Nice one Shane, I absolutely love Cotswolds. I'm not a massive sherry fan but you've hit it on the head with Arran Sherry. I like both of these whiskies which show how balanced and well made they are, instead of one specific type of sherry dominating everything. Cheers 🥃

Great review Shane! I haven't tried this or the Edradour Caledonia, but the Cotswolds is cheaper than the Edradour in my market. I have the Arran Sherry and Ardnamurchan Sherry and I like them both. Cheers!

If you like Arran sherry then I think you'll like this too. In fact I prefer it by a narrow margin. Cheers 🥃

I do prefer older whisky but compared to that Arran Sherry I find the Cotswolds has more character and depth, certainly good casks. The Arran in comparison feels like a sherry overcoat and is basically sweet and spritiy.

I think you're right. They're both good but this is better. And that's a massive achievement for Cotswolds Distillery to be beating the equivalent product from Arran 🌟

Great review and I love you're passion for the brand but I guess you know my problem, when it comes down to price Edradour 12 Caledonia £61-00 Glenallichie 10 c/s £66-00 Bunnah 12 c/s £ 82-00 Cotswolds nsa £69.95 I think I know where I will spend my money and here lies the problem for the new distillers, I am aware as I have Filey Bay 20 mins up the road.

Valid point and the situation probably isn't going to change any time soon for Cotswolds with their oldest release so far being around the 6yo mark. I think this release is about on par with Caledonia 12 and Bunna 12 though despite being younger. I'd even argue that it's more intense than the former and more balanced than the latter. Based on the 1st release of Bunna 12CS that I had anyway. Based on quality alone it makes sense that these are a similar price. Hopefully Cotswolds will give us some age statements in a few years. Nice review! I still haven't tried any of the Cotswolds whiskies yet. Maybe I start with the Signature, but I am a sucker for sherried whiskies so I'll need to try this one too!

If you like slightly dry and spicy sherry but still with good balance then this would be a great one. Very well made and presented 👍

I had the founder's reserve and while going through the bottle finally admitted that I enjoy the STR wine gum note when in the right mood. I want to buy another Cotswolds, but somehow not very attracted to either of the ones you presented. Have you tried any of their harvest series? I am a sucker for the pretty packaging 😅

You LIKE the wine gum note? How could you?! 😂 To be fair I used to really struggle with quarter casks and virgin oak and now I don't mind it in moderation. So perhaps by 2035 I'll be able to appreciate STR too 😉 I think I tried one of the harvest editions at the distillery. To be honest, I think the bourbon and sherry cask strength expressions are the best of the current range. Which is why I'm reviewing them. Because I bought them 😉 but I've liked EVERYTHING I've tried from Cotswolds. Which is pretty rare. No duds at all. Cheers 🥃
