Yes it's a great honour for them and it's great to see them getting some recognition. They have won a few awards before but I feel like they're still quite overlooked compared to some other English Whisky. I hope the latest Whisky of the Year award generates some sales for them 👍

Tried lots of whisky from this distillery ..by far and away my favourite was a bottle of chapter 15 heavily peated bottled at 58.4 per cent which I had in 2015 cracking bottle , not the case for the chapter 17 you’ve reviewed today which didn’t score very well for me and I had the 46per cent version and the 56.7 version but wasn’t a fan of that either ..win some/lose some. Good to review the distillery though as they do have some really great whisky ..chapter 17 is not one of them in my opinion. 😊

Chapter 15 was great. I had a lot of bottles from the chapter releases and tried all of them. I think I reviewed Chapter 14.... although honestly I forget what I've covered at this point 😂 The only dusty EWC remaining on my shelf that I can think of is a cask strength Chapter 9 which I remember liking a lot. More than Chapters 6,7,10,11,12,13,14,15,16&17! I hope I won't be disappointed when I get around to opening it... I do miss Chapter 15 and the younger Chapter 11. There's something about young, raw, heavily peated whisky that is lost with the older peated EWC releases that were getting now. The current peated stuff is great (reviews coming soonish) but I wish they'd still offer occasional 5yo peated stuff. I also miss that they used to do a cask strength version of pretty much everything. Although they do seem to always have at least a couple cask strength single cask offerings lately when I visit the shop. Agreed that Chapter 17 isn't one of their best. I like it. I don't think it's bad. But it's clearly inferior to the newer Triple Distilled Small Batch and most of the other current releases. It is very nice to see a distillery improving though. Makes a nice change from distilleries making excuses and cutting corners. Cheers 🥃

😂 a lot of the early EWC products (like this one) really were. The newer batches are much improved though. Even when the age is the same. Would love to know how they did it.
