Could The Khaenri'ahn People Really Be The Hilichurls? || Hilichurlian Cultural Customs | Audiobook

The Hilichurls are a deep mystery in Teyvat. Even the so called "expert" of the hilichurl appears to overlook information which appears clear to us as the players when given the information. That said, despite this text having been written by the aforementioned expert, it is still full of details that provide little misdirections which foreshadow a bigger reveal at a future date. Afterall... we know the people of Khaenri'ah did become monsters but, which ones exactly has not yet been expressly outlined.
Check the book, and decide for yourself. I hope it helps you form a more complete picture as it always has for me.

That's the thing I like about our mostly Silent Protagonist. They actually have a character and actually hide things from us like the fact they knew about Khaenria.

Who is the traveler? Why were they traveling across worlds? Funny how he doesn’t say anything about himself to anyone. Only the archons know who he is but don’t pry into it

Do you think that the “Musk Family” will play some kind of role in future quests? They have been clearly trying to establish communication with the hilichurls, and if they really are Khaenriahns, and become able to communicate with humans, they could reveal a lot of info about Teyvat and potentially more…

They've already established communication. In Mimi Tomo you have entire conversations in the Hilichurl language. It revealed some things about them, like the fact that all hilichurls are connected and know about other hilis far away/even make friends from other regions.

Here's hoping we can meet a friendly hilichurl npc that has somehow learned human languages and is able to communicate with people. If it's the chief of a friendly tribe that would also be a welcome addition

In the event Mimi Tomo you do chat with a bunch of hilichurls. They have their own language and you get a handbook for translating it. Not a single thing was said about Khaenri'ah because the Hilis are implied not to remember their past.

Let's not forget that Kaeya implies that he speaks their language, too. After we defeat Stormterror he tells us that he interogate some abyss creatures. Paimon asks him how and he answers that he has "some lingustic talents". During Windblume festival he once again implies that he speaks their language and Paimon even says something alomg the lines "is no one questiong why Kaeya speaks the language of the Hilichurls?" With his help Ella's progress would be so much faster 🤔

What happened in Khaenriah was not an isolated event, but part of a cycle that’s been happening for thousands of years. Whenever human society advances to the point where it becomes a power that rivals the gods, Celestia acts and and destroys said civilization. This happened in Khaenriah 500 years in the past, and we have the abyss order as a result. But Teyvat is full of much older ruins, suggesting that there were other advanced civilizations before. My guess is that Hillichurls are the deformed descendants of this civilization, in the same way that the Abyss order comes from Khaenriah. This would explain why they use the same writing that is found in the ruins.

I can’t help but think what happened to Vanessa. She “ascended” to the heavens but in the manga it showed her body being sacrificed, possibly to preserve the world of teyvat? Is that why Lisa fears the notion of having a vision? Could it be that obtaining a vision makes you a candidate to be sacrificed to preserve the world?

Thank on this new patch we now know they are khaenriah. Also we know they are much older and advance civilisation before khaenrian.

Hilichurls worshipping the element itself is absolutely understandable because Archons of respective element is like a god having absolute mastery over that element but they aren't the element itself, nor they are elemental creatures. The elements are not limited to any particular archon. In short, the archons of respective elements can't beat the respective slime. :)

Just Khaenri'ahns? I think not. I believe that every surviving human whose civilization was destroyed by Celestia were cursed to become hillichurls or "monsters" as many people in current-day Teyvat would refer to them, and Khaenri'ah is just one of them. There have been records of hillichurl sightings far long before Khaenri'ah was destroyed 500 years ago. This supports the claim that hillichurls could be survivors of ancient civilizations cursed by Celestia, and could explain why there are hillichurls even in secluded areas such as Inazuma's Tsurumi Island where an ancient civilization used to exist long before Ruu and his people inhabited the same island.

While some Hilichurls most certainly could be former Khaenri'ahns, it is stated in the basic Hilichurl archive entry that there's records of them from over a thousand years, meaning they don't specifically comes from Khaenri'ah since the great calamity was 500 years ago.

It could also be though that the corrupting force that turned people into them has been around the entire time Khaenri'ah was a thing. It may just be related to the corrosive effects that the abyss is said to embody mode like what the abyss herald claimed.

Khaenriah was probably not the only civilization destroyed, if the theory of cycle destruction is true, they’re were probably ancient civilizations before Khaenriah that were also destroyed by celestia.

Ok now here’s the thing; hilichurls were here way before khaneri’ah was destroyed. There’s a girl in mondstat that said that the hilchurls just appeared out of no where like a great calamity. But after khaneri’ah was destroyed, the population of hilichurl increased. What’s more interesting is how the hilichurls are able to manipulate elements without a vision. As we all know there are 3 tribes 1. Sleeper tribe 2. Meaty tribe 3. Eclipse tribe Out of the 3, the eclipse tribe is extremely mysterious because all they do is draw eclipse symbols every where they go. Didn’t khaneri’ah have a dynasty called the “eclipse dynasty”? And dainsleif was a part of it. The eclipse tribe is somehow related to the eclipse kingdom which is khaneri’ah. Realize how all the other hilichurls tribes are never interested into ruins, but only the eclipse tribe is interested with ruins. What’s also interesting is that we can only find electro samachurls in Inazuma, but we can’t find them in mondstat or liyue. The same goes for cryo samachurls as well. The archons are kinda sus because venti has been here for over 1,000 years so he definitely knows what the hilichurls are and zhongli as well. The dendro archon died 500 years ago when khaneri’ah was destroyed and the new dendro archon has been an archon for 500 years hmmmm… not sus at all. And tsaritsa wants to destroy Celestia because they took away all the people that she loved which were all the civilizations in teyvat…? My only guess is hilichurls are creatures from every nation that khaneri’ah destroyed in the past. It’s a continuous cycle that never ends and hilichurls are nothing but innocent victims to Celestia’s selfish desires. The abyss has lumine to lead them, but the hilichurls don’t have anybody to lead them, instead lumine and the abyss are using the hilichurls as there shield. Something tells me that when the war arc between teyvat and Celestia begins, the hilichurls will join teyvat and help teyvat beat Celestia.

Yes, thank you for bringing this fact, that there are mentions about hilichurls being much more ancient. Quite disappointed that video is not presenting and considering those mentions and sources. How we can consider origins of hilichurls without reaching to the past as far as we can? I would have also a small remark about manipulating elements, in the video it was said it's something special. It's kinda funny, cause initially in the game it is presented as something special, yes, but in fact we see that's it's simply COMMON. Not only hilichurls, but even simple and poor bandits like treasure hoarders, have their ways, same with fallen samurai in Inazuma, mutated plants and animals etc. Really, it's not a big deal at all. From what we see in Teyvat now, it would be more surprising if hilichurls were some force in the world that don't use elements at all.

@@user-vr8qd4hk6y that’s a good point, the kairagi do use elements without visions. But treasure hoarders throw bottles that have elemental energy stored inside. They don’t manipulate elements they use elements like gadgets. The kairagi were once samurai’s who had visions but the raiden shogun took there vision. The fatui use elements like gadgets as well, they can’t manipulate it. Hilichurls however call upon the elements. And they can actually manipulate it, like vision holders do. And it was confirmed in the game that the history books are all lies and the full truth isn’t written down. That’s why paimon was confused when dainself mentioned khaneri’ah. Nobody in teyvat knows the full truth.

Childe's Foul Legacy form also bears some morphological similarities to the various hilichurl types: horned mask with a single eye, hair tuft, spikes, etc.

I actually got really sad when I saw the dead Hilichurls at Tsurumi island. The ones that had been killed by rifthounds. Even wonder why they disintegrate when you defeat them, but Treasure Hoarders get to disappear ninja smoke-bomb style?

Honestly this is a theory that I've been interested in ever since Lumine (canon lost sibling) told us about the khaeri'ah people becoming monsters, sadly I didn't actually make any progress in my own research due to others just giving me the "NO" and saying that it's just the abyss and not hilichurls so I'm glad that you also came to be interested in this type of theory. Can't wait to see what other theories you make when Enkonomiya releases which will probably have more lore about khaenri'ah (possibly) due to the abyss enemies actually being there.

My boy Zhongli would be rather, displeased... Don't know why this was even a debate though as this is the follow-up to a game about the multiverse.

I'm still even more curious about how the abyss order fits in with this Are they khaenrians who only got partially transformed? The ones who escaped to an abyssal dimension and were eventually mutuated? Is there any connection between the fatui abyss order and hilichurls? Are we the bad guys???? I know we're definitely not the good or worst guys but dang

I think the abyss order are members of khaenriah and past extinct civilizations who remember being destroyed by Celestia. Unlike the Tsaritsa who wants to topple the divine, the abyss order wants to destroy everything. Probably why dainsleif wants to stop them. They are no longer humans but monsters who seek only to destroy

Yes, but their numbers grew immensely after Khaenriahs destruction. The already existing hilichurls are most likely results of other erased civilizations, like Dragonspine’s Sal Vindagnir
