USTF/Peek Traffic? They were one of the first signal companies to make a "uniform look" LED countdown pedestrian signal unit. Nowadays virtually all the big LED traffic signal manufacturers make them (I mostly see the ones made by Dialight, GE and Leotek in my area.)
@kenlacey6781 Жыл бұрын
I believe they did, but they were changing around 450 a module while the other companies were charging under 300, cities didn't care if you saw the led diodes or not when they had to buy a lot to change out

Is There A Voice On The Crosswalk Signal Because Do Some Intersections Have Crosswalk Voices
@kenlacey67812 жыл бұрын
Some intersections have these talking buttons due to visually impaired live around that area, there are different beeps emitted to let them know if crossing east/west or north/south, the talking gives them an idea as to where they are (street name) if you hold the button down it will tell you your location, the button also vibrates and let's them know it is working when pushed or vibrates longer when the walk comes on

How did you integrate the switch into this setup as far as wiring? I have a signal and a sequencer that has an option for a crossing button input. Some buttons I've seen online have multiple connection terminals, so I'm curious what wiring I would need to do to make it functional. Thanks!

This style button uses another box inside the cabinet to control the functions of the button, makes it talk and beep once it senses the power from the walk signal, if you look at this video you will see a blue box up on the top shelf on the right. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nt53qrejv5jNY4E.html You can find these style buttons on ebay, but it is rare that the blue communication box show up, I looked for 3 years at a cost of 700.00 this hobby cost me a few bucks The sequencer you are talking about is a small board? If so you will need a standard mechanical button with a microswitch or Reed switch, polara bulldogs will not work, I started with one they are good, I still use one on a pedestrian signal not this one
@jamesnicklas25962 жыл бұрын
@@kenlacey6781 Ahh ok makes sense about the switch that's needed. Yeah the sequencer board I'm using is the Galak Electronics VG-306C. It has a mode where it waits for a button press at the input on the board (Mode 2). I have it on Mode 1 where you set the cycle time and it just sequences between Walk and Don't Walk during a set time period. This paired with my GE GTX module with countdown it goes through one set of hand flashes to learn the countdown time and then displays it the next time around.
@kenlacey67812 жыл бұрын
Oh ok, I see how that one can work, the one I have can't remember who made it can control a traffic signal and a pedestrian signal, it will run through it's cycle but if you push the button it will advance it to walk and cut out the timer to get to walk, then flashvthe don't walk, it's not bad, I just use it on my 3M 131 pedestrian signal not any of these signal setups, I grew into more and more and more as the years go

@@kenlacey6781 Very cool! The hardest part I think is getting a housing for the module. Most distributors don't like dealing with collectors but luckily I found a company down in Iowa (I'm in Minnesota) that will sell to me. I'm going with a McCain housing in yellow with an egg crate visor. Originally I wanted the tunnel visor but apparently Minnesota is one of the only states that orders tunnel visors so they don't keep many if any in stock. I did the rough in for the power connection so I'm ready to get everything hooked up when the housing arrives. I'm running the pedestrian and traffic signals off of a smart outlet so everything turns on and off automatically on a schedule.

Just looking at the ped buttons now on ebay and the prices have jumped, here is a nice one that will work with your setup if your looking for a button, it's mechanical, gte made some really great buttons, I have a couple of these, Dade County use to have them all over in the 90's, there also out of NY www.ebay.com/itm/GTE-CORP-PB-3-1000-BLACK-PEDESTRIAN-PUSH-BUTTON-/324267597950?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0

This was there 2nd generation one, unfortunately you can't change the audio like the 3rd generation ones, you had to order a small board that plugged into the button inside, it's a shame cause I like the saying and they didn't make the audio file available

How do I program that modle? Is it usb like the EN4? Or do I need the navigator
@kenlacey67815 жыл бұрын
This one was there first design which used a small audio board that plugs in, to change times and audio levels you need the navigator communicator hand held unit, the yellow one I have in another video has the USB port, both of these are EN2, if you have the EN4 with usb download there program on polara's site

@@kenlacey6781 also one more question. What sequencer did you use for this?
@kenlacey67815 жыл бұрын
I am actually using a Siemens M60 traffic controller to run the pedestrian signal, you can see it in one of my other videos, if you are looking for a small sequencer Lights to go has one www.trafficlights.com I use to have 1 and it will work a countdown ped, also www.tscontrolsonline.com has a ts12 controller which is good for ped and signal working together

@@kenlacey6781 I just got the button today. I notice there are separate wires for the button and for power. Does this use 120v like normal household electronics or does it need some kind of special voltage to it?

Kyle Miller thanks! I got it off ebay a few years ago, it was a demo unit for a sales man to show off, it was mounted to a flat piece of metal with the ccu behind it, it is the old style button with the voice module board that plugs into the button
@TheTrafficTech6 жыл бұрын
Ken Lacey Interesting! I'm liking the dual voice setup. I tested that feature with Spanish since there were some preloaded sounds in the program. I still see a couple of these models around the city.
@kenlacey67816 жыл бұрын
Kyle Miller it does have the spanish language too, but i like the Japenese language better, if you havebbthe simular model turn off second langage and turn on third languge as far as i know this one only worked with 1 of the 2 turned on (second or third languge) , didnt work with all 3 turned on
@TheTrafficTech6 жыл бұрын
Ken Lacey Mine only has support for two languages since it's the EN 4. It does pretty much everything else though (except preemption). I may do the second language in French, being Canadian haha. I think the Japanese language is cool for this though!
