I love it how... In the start the couples were talking big things like wanting personal space and knowing too much.. And as the years proceed... They talk about silly things like.. Bed and meals

That makes sense to me actually, i imagine when you first get married, you are still settling in and organizing your life with another person so you have to get the big issues out of the way. Once you've been with someone for more time the more things have been settled and talked about and then find other smaller things to talk/argue about lol

I actually don't think the meals issue is a 'silly thing'. That woman is talking about the way women are expected to carry two fulltime jobs--work all day in paid labour, & then come home & work another fulltime job doing unpaid labour of cooking, cleaning, childcare etc. That's a serious issue, that assumption that ordinary women carry a superhuman burden but also get no credit for it.

@@johnnydtractive If I got paid for all the jobs I do as a stay at home mother, I would be freakin rich! Daycare provider - $9.40 hr Teacher - $28.37 hr (I'm not homeschooling, but I'm making sure to jump-start his education) Cook - $15.19 hr (unlike the others where I'm using the average, for this one I pulled the lowest number of a head cook bc, let's be honest, I'm no gourmet chef, lol) Maid - $11.04 All unpaid and yet totally worth it to be able to spend as much time with my baby as possible!

Another way to look at it is that those in long marriages found the right person to marry which meant it lasted for such a long time. People should avoid staying in a bad marriage under the impression that it magically will become better with time. That being said you can of course work on problems in a relationship, married or not.
@amor4895
@amor4895 3 жыл бұрын
Skeppsvrak there is no “right person” to find. That right person has to be made and there has to be compromises and constant character building on both ends to keep up a marriage

I’m going to guess that since the wife stated in another video that she proclaimed she knew she wanted to marry him when she was only 8th grade age (around 12-13 years old) that they may have gotten married shortly after high school. If they’ve been married for 22 years, that’d make them possibly in their early to mid-forties. People don’t look THAT old at that age yet, so they don’t look exceptionally young or good to me since most people at around that age don’t look overly aged yet.

I believe there was an article I read that mentions (being married) you tend to develop a lot of the same habits such as what you eat, how you act, how you live, what you do, Etc. Which tends to make you continue to age in a similar way. Because your environment is the same as well as your habits.
@ToastieSimmer
@ToastieSimmer 5 жыл бұрын
In the couples that have been married longer they actually develop the same facial expression over the years. We can tell the emotions of others by mimicking their facial expressions (so subtle you don’t even notice), so in couples that have been married for a really long time they actually they would be use to Mum king each other’s expressions they would slowly morph into one.
@taylor-ow4cr
@taylor-ow4cr 5 жыл бұрын
Well the more you hang out with someone, the more you start to look like them, develop the same habits, facial expressions, etc. plus, usually, people tend to be attracted to others that look like them.
@TunnelJumper
@TunnelJumper 5 жыл бұрын
Naturally (and I guess, subconsciously), we're attracted to people with the same features as us, to ensure that we pass our features onto our offspring. Now this isn't the case with each and every single couple here or in real life. You can be attracted to how someone speaks another language or has a crazy amount of common interests with you, their money, their shape, their ability to sing, dance, remain cool under pressure, pick you up and throw you around the room (in a loving manner, I would hope), literally anything you want and it doesn't have to follow this rule, it's just something that happens much more often than not. I only found this out a year and a half ago from a psych major friend and it was really eye opening to know that I wasn't actually making it up in my head that I have "a type." My first celebrity crush as a kid was on Liv Tyler. Surely enough, our faces are structured really similarly. I met my girlfriend shortly after this revelation too. She's half Polish-Jewish/half Australian, has a long thin face, high cheekbones and dramatic slanting eyebrows. I'm Chilean (of Spanish descent) so my skin is a bit more tanned and in comparison to her green eyes, mine are brown, but we're both a bit taller and long-limbed and have issues taking baths together or getting a good night's sleep together. I was mowing the lawn at her mom's place couple of months ago and a neighbour she was chatting with asked if I was her brother lmfao

I feel like I got so lucky in my marriage. It really has been an easy ride. There is not a single day when I would prefer to be by myself rather than with my husband. We rarely fight and our personalities bounce off of each other well. One in a million I know. I've heard it all, but I promise you, everyday feels like it's the first day of marriage for us. Love these videos. We've been married almost 20 years. Time flies. My best advice? Find someone you are 'compatible' with, whatever that means. Just find it.

Do you have any advice for me Ms. Christina? Ive dreamed and I'm working toward being the best person I can be and getting as close to God as I can Before im in a relationship But Ive dreamed all about marriage since i was a toddler. I don't want it to be too good to be true, but I want it be like yours, ik im just a random stranger but i really relate to your comment even being single, any advice would help :))
@peachyshortchuts
@peachyshortchuts 2 жыл бұрын
@@myagirl1997 Hello Mya Girl - I do! Despite the belief that opposites attract (which they can), I find common values (including religion), education levels (affects respect and communication), and goals (includng financial) helps to strengthen relationships. When you hear opposites attract, it could mean personality: one person is soft-spoken while the other is loud(er). Whatever is the case, in couples that I know and in my own, I can attest that having these common bonds helped make coming together much easier. Values for me were religious. It brought us closer as we could share more time together and certainly less fighting when bringing up children. Education - we were of two different but professions but equal in levels. It offered unconditional respect throughout our marriage as we valued each other as equals. Lastly, goals! There are so many variations of this. We both wanted children. We both wanted a house with a yard (and neither of us were driven by money). Here is my advice to you, therefore, taking into consideration all of the above. Here's how I did it. 1 - Write down a list of what you want in someone. 2 - Go out there and meet people. 3- Because you know what you want, you're more likely to be drawn to those people with traits you've mentioned, 4 - Be patient and realistic. The list is a guide of what you want, but it is not a creation of a perfect person. 4 - Don't settle, but absolutely be realisic, 5-This doesn't have to be a long process but it can be a long process for some. 6- Everyone has someone, e.g. "soulmate", in fact many in this lifetime. Earth is just to big to have one one. REMEMBER: Similar values, education levels, and goals. These will make your relationships feel smoother. Lastly, don't laugh: use the chinese zodiac to find the animals you are compatible with in love. I know it sounds crazy, but it works, not always, but many times. I hope this helps. Yes, anyone reading this would say I'm crazy. It's just one perspective :) Good luck to you. You deserve love! ;)

Cheesy but the accommodating thing is very true. But when you find your person, it’s not “I have to”, it’s a “I want to” situation because you care about the greater whole of the relationship, rather than just yourself.

We'd say - finding the balance between being DEPENDANT and INDEPENDANT. We both have strong personalities and sometimes we like to do our thing, but it's hard when one person is feeling "needy" while the other is trying to "spread their wing." It helps to plan time together - and then plan time apart. ❤️

Relationships are hardwork meh thts why I don’t like them. I’ve never agreed to be in a relationship my entire life because I realized how much of myself I’m gonna have to give to the other person. Real talk ppl are needy so are we at times. Uh my guy and I had this talk the other day and he said the same, ‘I’m gonna watch wat I say or how I say things amongst other ppl bc of how it might affect you.’ Part me felt cool he was being considerate. Than again, I felt sort of guilty like wat kinda sucker am I to control how this man speaks or act around other ppl?’ I know how much I enjoy my own freedom so whom am I to sort control another’s person sense of independence to do whatever he likes or as long as it is safe? Idk. He text me and if I take long to respond, he doesn’t like tht. If I don’t call he doesn’t like it. It’s a lot. Relationships is really a place you go to give. And if you are anything like me, pls don’t pretend tht this is something u want
