Yes grind is important as you stated and I appreciate your comment.👍 I’m not a pro but am a bit of an enthusiast having roasted my own coffee for my Rancilio Silvia machine and doserless Rocky Grinder. A “cowboy” coffee in the woods hits the spot with me! Cheers☕️

I love cowboy coffee too...it's the best tasting coffee. It's very similar to the taste from a french press because the coffee flavors have had time to absorb into the water. I have made this in my kitchen for years, but now i more than often use the french press. Thank you for not doing the whole 60 Kochanski's...i mean really! LOL Last night we put some of those coffee packets in our Mors Pot filled half full of boiling water and let it sit all night and this morning re-heated it over a fire. Delicious!

I do measure out my coffee...but your times have worked out the best for me so far. Two tablespoons coffee, bring just to a rolling boil, reduce heat to a slow boil for 60 kohansky seconds, I set aside for two minutes and tap with my knife. Cold water may work in summer (also reduces temp of drink)...but I like the tap for all seasons and does work. Thanks for getting me into Cowboy Coffee that I finally like!

Keep the grounds and dry them out and store them dry. When you go to smoke some meat you can use them in the smoker with the wood, just damp them a little. Let me tell ya, smoked meat with coffee grounds, yum!

@@VRGPICTURES No worries I'm quite happy to answer any questions. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jdaWfptpudKbYpc.html This video speaks about flint and steel fires. Char cloth is what captures the spark and allows it to be transferred to a tinder bundle. A natural material like cotton or punky wood needs to be charred in a low oxygen environment and that's why I put the cotton in the tin and then in the fire. Hope this helps you out👍

i will have to try this! for the record, our uncle roy had a different cowboy coffee. he would run water thru a percolator, and then dump those grounds and run the coffee thru fresh grounds!!! he would always say "saves on going to the bathroom" ah, we miss uncle roy.

This is how it was taught to me years back.. well we boil for about 5 minutes instead of 60. I bet the method itself wasn't new except perhaps to 'cowboys' but picked up and passed on. The US is/was a country of immigrants. :) What is the other method of cowboy coffee?
