With your help Chris I am finally getting somewhere with my watercolours. I’m a reasonably confident sketcher but am still struggling with painting my sketches as that’s where it all kinda goes wrong. I see now that I need to relax and play rather than worry about painting and ruining good sketches 😂 Thank you from a struggling potential artist over here in the UK 🇬🇧

Thank you, Chris, for this wonderful tutorial! I really enjoyed painting along with you, and love the results of my work, and tomorrow, I will probably do this one again for practice! I am hoping one day to be able to paint for my own photographs, and seeing how other artists simplify a scene, I hope will help me get there!

Thank you so much. I really love this painting. The lighthouse, the beautiful colours, the summer sky. Thanks to your super clear tutorials my lighthouses look less like nuclear reactors and more like what they are supposed to be. 🤣My Saturdays are so pleasant now that I have subscribed to your joyful channel. You are the best!

Lovely painting, kind of reminds me of a lighthouse in Marblehead, Oh, a few miles from where I use to live. There use to be a painter that did a lot of Lake Erie / lighthouse painting of that area, you should check it out! I really like the light, airy, look you achieve, mine is overdone but looks nice ....Thanks, Chris!

I have a question. At the beginning of your tutorials I’m seeing you painting plein air at an easel. The easel is tilted. When you’re painting in your studio it looks as though you’re painting on a flat surface. Aren’t those two types of painting very different? Flat painting doesn’t have gravity as part of the painting process. I hope you’re seeing a question in my comment. Thanks!

Great questions Teresa, when painting with less water the paper at either angle works somewhat similar. If we use a very wet wash,... it tends to run down the paper at the steeper angle quite quickly. 👍😎

@@cpetri766 First I’d like to say how kind and encouraging you are in your tutorials. Your suggestion of taking breaks is a great on for many reasons. So thank you for that! Now back to my question there are some watercolor artists that always work on a tilted board and consider gravity as part of their process. Switching back and forth seems like you’d need have two different styles. When your easel is tilted gravity makes your paint flow. Do you ever work on a slanted easel indoors? Also you were talking about how much you loved your needle point brush. I looked around on line and started wondering what brand yours was. Thank you again.
