Spinning can only happen with DC current because it moves in one direction only. But the city power you used is AC which oscillates at a frequency of around 50/60 Hz which causes a switching in the magnetic field and basically results in a push-pull effect and results in a net zero force and does'nt cause the spinning of the spinner.
@ThatGuy-nv2wo
@ThatGuy-nv2wo 5 жыл бұрын
also it looks like the wire welds onto the body, stopping any of those small oscillations
@CatNolara
@CatNolara 5 жыл бұрын
Not true, just look at universal motors. You need a stationary magnetic field that provides the force to make it spin. It has to oscillate in phase with the rotor field.

They could have turned it into a single phase induction motor, with no starter winding a gentle flick would have brought it close enough to synchronous to continue gaining speed by slip torque. I actually really would have liked to see that :) Please Kreosan!?

2kA * 2V gives around 4 kilowatts. 4 kilowatts * 1 hour of continuous(!) smelting shit gives 4kWh. If your computer drains 400 watts while playing The Witcher 3, then 10 hours of playing it will take same amount. And it costs less than 1 USD.

Hi guys .. your videos are amazing and entertaining. But also give some explanation as to what are your currents and voltages and how much time it takes to melt , the diameter of the wires used, the type of material which are melted etc. Also like why did you change the secondary coil of the transformer etc. I have watched some other videos of yours, while they are very entertaining and fun, they lack explaination of the phenomenon you show . It would also make the vedio very informative .. thanks and great work and please be careful..

Why, this is not using a lot of power.... plus it is only for a short time. Let's say 6 minutes at 2000W load. That's consumption of 2kW x 0.1 hours, which is 0.2 kWh. If you pay 40c per kWh, then this 6 minutes costs 8 cents.
