Got it working right away, at first I copied the wrong file and the printer started barkin at me, when I retried everything worked well after a few seconds. Quick and right to the point thanks man!

Thank you! I've been searching all over for this! Nothing worked! I had to use a different bin file (the one for 4.2.7) but once I did that, it worked like a charm!

mate you don't know how much you saved me. I was searching through half the publically accessible internet for a fix because when I tried to update the firmware for it to work with OctoPi it just started beeping and I couldn't do anything to fix it. Thank you 1000x

I’m new to 3d printing so I bought the BL Touch and had the black screen issue when installing the firmware. This helped a lot I grabbed the DWIN_SET file from the download you showed (which was not on the BL touch firmware download) and put it on my SD card with the BL Touch firmware and it worked perfectly. Thanks!

Did you just do the DWIN_set on its own, I have the jyers firmware on the machine and only got a screen issue. I don’t want to revert the main board back to the factory firmware.

Doesn't work for me. Mine stopped shortly after starting the print. Screen froze. After power-cycling it just gave me black screen. First 3kg of fillament went through just perfectly.

Little late to the party, but it's worth noting for anyone else that stumbles across this in a panic (like me): After about 3 hours of searching for why these instructions didn't work, I found a curious little note stuck on a Reddit discussion that made these instructions work flawlessly. Apparently when loading firmware the Ender's mainboard may have issues loading firmware with a large capacity card. Use an 8GB (or smaller) card to do the firmware load, nothing larger (the one that ships with the Ender is 8GB). I was using a perfectly good and brand new 32GB card to no avail...switched to an 8GB card and boom - these instructions worked perfectly.

Thank you for your video. Definitely saved my printer. I can't actually believe it. I couldn't find the factory setting anymore so I downloaded the latest software. Then as you said copy the files to the card. Insert and turn on. Much appreciated man🍻

@@yurimeijer4269 according to my other comment I basically just ended up restarting the entire process and it worked. Just have to make sure after the firmware is on the main board you update the screen as well by plugging the SD card into the back of it. Hope this helps

Thanks so much! It worked. For anyone wondering which file it is on there website as of RIGHT NOW, its: Ender-3 V2_Marlin2.0.8_HW_V4.2.2_SW_V1.0.7 Worked for me and I'm happy that my black screen dissapeared! Side note, when I put in the SD card, it did take like 30 or 40 seconds to turn from a black screen to the new firmware!

Hello everyone, I'm encountering an issue with my 3D printer, the Ender 3 Creality Max Neo. The LCD screen on the printer isn't displaying anything, even though the firmware has been uploaded. Initially, the screen appeared a few times but then went blank again, and now it's completely off. Is there anyone who can provide a solution? Thank you.

If you're like me and somehow messed up updating the firmware on your own and now you're terrified because your literally brand-new V2 ended up stuck with the Creality logo on screen forever, this works for that too :) Absolute life saver, thank you so much

@@Chrishuff1 Oh no... Try formatting the SD card so ALL the data is off of it and try it again. I think it took me a couple tries to make sure everything was right

I followed your steps and still have the same issue. If I turn on the printer without the micro sd card in, everything is fine and I can change the settings etc.. but once I put the sd card in and turn on the printer, I get the black screen. Any idea what it can be ?

How does just putting files on an SD card and putting that card into the printer do anything? When I tried this nothing happened. Wouldn't you need to, idk, do something? Put the files form the SD card onto the main board?

Which board do have, my original board was 4.2.2, I upgraded to 4.2.7 and was having issues. I tried this fix with 4.2.7 it didn't work but it worked for my 4.2.2? 4.2.7 does not come with DWIN but the 4.2.2 does

@@Julian_Aa I just fixed mine. 1st cut everything from the original SD Card, do not reformat the card unless you can format it for FAT32, Windows 10 only does exFAT32, ned Download DWIN_SET folder and place on the empty SD card (original card) disassemble your screen and put the card in the SD slot. After 30 or so seconds the screen turned red. Turn off the printer and remove the SD card. Delete or place in a safe folder DWIN_SET now you will extract the original firmware for 4.2.2 or 4.2.7 on the same SD card. Place in printer SD slot replug all cables and turn on after 30 or so second you should get the Creality screen. After that you can update to the correct firmware. I leave the firmware name the same except I put a number right before .bin

I"m on a mac, formatted my micro sd card for fat32, but the download file from Creality is not a zip file but a .bin file. It also downloads only an .rar format. Can't find the remainder of the firmware as that .rar file is all you get. Any help?

Kinda confused, the forum link in the description takes me to a page that looks just like the one in the video, but it only downloads the .rar file, no .bin and no dwin_set. any idea what's up with that?

Yep download the .rar file it’s the same as a zip file so you need to unpack it

Hello is your printer stock? Or modded does it have the board that came with the printer ? If so download the .Bin file on the website and follow the same process

The firmwares are no longer on the site like that. Instead it redirects to a google drive folder with only 3 files. None of them says Factory Settings

@@TheRealSamPrentice could only find that file in different languages on the cloud. Tried installing the Jyers firmware instead and it flashed onto the machine fine but it aborts my prints after heating up

Did not work for me. I've followed your video and 20 others like it and nothing is fixing my printer. It refused to do anything but the creality screen. I've tried renaming, using origin card, everything. If someone could get on a video call with me or something I would greatly appreciate it.

How the screen can work flawlessly for weeks and suddenly stop working requiring a firmware update is beyond me. What could have changed the screen operation in between? If no one fiddled with the firmware before, I don't get what kind of screen fault happening overnight can be fixed by a fw update... Can someone explain that? Thanks!

@@TheRealSamPrentice Yes, but all the problems you mentioned look like hardware faults... Do you mean that they could also corrupt the firmware? Because that's the only way a fw upgrade can fix the problem, did I get right?

I downloaded the firmware from creality's website but it only contains the .bin and nothing else. Flashed my printer and now it doesn't move. But I see you've provided a different link to the forums and that fixed my printer. BUT it didn't solve the issue that caused me to flash. Meaning that my settings on the printer are lost after restarting it.

That’s all you need - make sure you wipe the sd card copy the .bin onto it and wait for a few mins let me know how you get on

@@TheRealSamPrentice I don't know but the printer just didn't wanna move if I flashed it with just the .bin on sd card. I took the DWIN_SET folder from the download you provided because it wasn't attached with any other firmware downloads that I found and used it along with one of Jyers/Marlin custom .bin as I couldn't find stock firmware more recent than mine. Now my settings are saved, underextrusion fixed, and on top of that I have more controls. Thanks for the download

You are only flashing the printer firmware though, the display firmware is not being flashed this way.

That’s correct you’ll only need to install the DWIN folder onto the screen IF it’s not previously worked.

I simply don't understand how my printer won't work. It is fresh out of the box. I mistakenly tried to update firmware and the power in our house went out mid upload. The screen is black when I restart. I tried so many combinations of uploads and files and bins and rars and dwin sets. I am just so frustrated as this was a gift for my son and I may have ruined a machine that is not cheap. Help.

It is still not working, I have ender 3 v2 with 4.2.2 mainboard. sd card is formated fat 32 I donwloaded the exact same firmware as in the Video and even with a long wait still nothing Thanks for any help

What size is your sd card ? When you try this and put your sd card back into your computer does it still read as firmware.bin? Or .CUR? Next try calling the file firmware1.bin and try again

@@TheRealSamPrentice I tried it with an 8gb and a 16gb sd card, files are still firmware.bin or firmware1.bin etc tryed it again and still nothing

@@xxmawe0xx573 okay well if it doesn’t turn to .CUR after the “flash” it’s not taken it. Can i assume that the printer was working fine then just went black ? Sometimes you need to try a couple of times but you’ll need to wait a few mins. Is the screen reacting at all?

@@TheRealSamPrentice yeah the display just went black and i tried a couple of times now and still nothing. The screen turns on and just displays black and doesn´t react.

is the bin supposed to be outside of the dwin_set folder?

They are two different sds needed one for the motherboard and the dwin for the screen

After a few hundred prints, working fine, I just made a small print, turned it off, took the print off the glass, turned it back on, and it was BLANK...... So, here I Am.

Make sure that you reformat your SD card and try again

i updated the firmware and then put it back on the factory firmware and then it worked
