3D printing is a very cool technology, but it's always perhaps been a little too much on the "techie" side of things with machines being tricky to setup, or calibrate - as well as a whole slew of software to learn. But with the Sermoon V1 Pro, Creality are saying you can take it out of the box and print with - and you don't even need a computer, you can use your phone! Will this printer deliver, let's jump in and find out.
You can check out the Sermoon C1 Pro via via the following links -

For an out of the box printer that is amazing. Great to see you reviewing a 3D printer. Wow the old one!!! Creality have come on since my Ender 3. Great video Wayne, thanks.

Yes, it was a pretty cool product to be able to review - I've felt quite behind the times not being able to make things out of TPU... but no more!

No nothing about 3D Printing... But now I'm interested..one of your most interesting video's with your usual great presentation and explained in a way that a complete novice to these Printers can understand... Personally I would like to see more from you on this subject which i feel would make me want one of my own...which at this point is about the price of a decent Quad.... As someone else says... I've learned something today... Thanks for a great video.

One thing I mentioned that I'd like to do is make myself something to install my Open.HD ground station on a tripod. Hopefully using a mix of PLA and TPU - and I have to do a few things to get a Pi Zero installed nicely on a quad - so you should be seeing some more from this machine.

Just received & set up my 1st printer Creality Sermoon V1 today. The printed user Manual’s font size was too small for me to read. However the digital version I could zoom in to read easily! In a couple of hours I printed the Whistle supplied on the SD CARD from Creality. Right out of box simple to use. Admittedly a few years ago at Make Nashville (Tennessee) I had taken classes to use to learn to use older generation 3D printers. I am very pleased with the ease of use of the Sermoon V1.

I'm glad you actually got the SD card... it was just poor old me that missed out :D It's nice when something just works out of the box isn't it. It gives far more time for you to get on a create something. I don't even have to think about it now, I just hit print and ignore it for x hours until it's done. No issues at all so far

Fantastic review, Wayne! Thanks a bunch! 😃 I still didn't buy a 3d printer... Let's see when I can change it. 🙄 But this one seems REALLY interesting! I liked it a lot! Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

I was looking into a printer. This looks like a great option, not having a do a lot tweaking to make it work every nice. Nice review sir. I'm going to into it
@CurryKitten
@CurryKitten 2 жыл бұрын
Yes - the not tweaking, and in fact just pressing print and walking off and completely alien to me. I had about half a reel of 3mm PLA left on my old printer and so I decided to print some more quad wall mounts to use it up. In the printing of 6 of these, two end stops have broken, the filament stopped feeding and gear tension had to be adjusted, one print just locked half way through and I've had at least 4 print attempts that didn't start right and had to be aborted and restarted. I'm not going to miss the old one!

Perhaps so - the stepper motors can still navigate accurately to a 3d space, so there's perhaps a future project to think about

Great review. Lots of useful detail. Would be good to have added what the bed dimensions were, what settings you used for TPU, and how you connected your desktop to the printer.
@CurryKitten
@CurryKitten 2 жыл бұрын
I thought I mentioned at the end that this was 175mm (so slightly smaller than the usual 200mm) specifically the bed can do 175x175x165. The TPU settings were to many to go into, hence talking about the video you'd follow along and make the changes they mentioned (although it would have been more useful to have it as a preset). The desktop isn't connected to the printer - I'd like it to be. It's a case of using the Creality Print software (which is very good) and then moving the gcode to the SD card and then printing from the SD card

@@CurryKitten It is fine being able to cloud-connect from an App, but for full features and a proper user experience, the priority IMHO should be desktop access. At the very least by USB, ideally Wifi/Ethernet. I think remote/cloud printing is an interesting conundrum, because if you are not physically present to remove the last print from the printer bed, you cant print anything else. I think it is a gimmick. Great video all the same, thank you.
@CurryKitten
@CurryKitten 2 жыл бұрын
There's no USB port or an ethernet port. There is a webserver from the Creality Box that's internal to the printer. However, I was unable to get access to the camera (despite guessing the admin password (hint: it's admin) it's also running a telnet server, where I thought I might get access to the file system, but I was unable to work out the correct user/password combo to check. It seems like this COULD be opened up for a desktop machine, but they want to push the app

great video! Do you think the pro version with the camera and pausing open door feature worth the extra $140 vs. the v1 non-pro version?
@CurryKitten
@CurryKitten 2 жыл бұрын
In a word no... although I suppose you could say "it depends" I've turned the door sensor off on mine, and the camera is only accessible via the cloud app. I'd love to be able to make my own time-lapses without the app but that isn't an option. Perhaps the door sensor will be useful if you have little ones that are going to open things (although it should still be noted that the hot end takes a good few minutes to cool down) so it doesn't protect as much as putting it out of harms reach

I know this is somewhat off-topic, but does anyone know if this printer would be good enough to make a decent job of printing tabletop gaming miniatures? I've had half an eye on one of the low-cost resin printers for a while, but don't want to have to deal with the hassle, mess, and ancillary expenses!
@CurryKitten
@CurryKitten 2 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean - Creality actually offered me a resin printer to start with - but resin (aside from the hassles of curing/cleaning/just using resin) isn't particularly good for the sort of prints we'd use in RC. Resin would be awesome for minitures - but as you say, there's that extra hassle to go with it. How good the prints are depend on the model. PLA for really tiny details can be tricky as you are dealing with filament that might not be cooling enough before the next layer goes down and there's probably a lot of retraction and temperature to play with to remove all the stringies. I've printed little buildings out for a friend for a tabletop game - which came out really well and looked awsome after they were painted, but figures are quite a step up from that

Hi, I would like to know that how to get "Sermoon V1 Recommended Printing Slicing Parameters for Filament and Machine State Requirement" this file? (Time: 21:50) I can't find it from Creality official website. Thank you.

That's not available on the website (for some odd reason) it only comes on the docs that are in the enclosed SD card (which my one was missing)

can i change the bed with a glass bed?
@CurryKitten
@CurryKitten Жыл бұрын
Yes in theory - although you'd need some way of securing it where the print head didn't run into whatever you hold it on by. The print bed it comes with is magnetically attached, so doesn't need any clips or anything to hold it in place

Is it better than Ender 3 Max Neo?
@CurryKitten
@CurryKitten Жыл бұрын
It really depends on what you are looking for. I don't have the Ender 3 Max Neo, but the main basis of that printer is the much larger build volume it has, so if you are potentially printer larger than 175x175x175 then the Max is the one

Yes - to be fair, I got it for free. But if I was buying, faced with this and something that I'd have to tune and mess with the settings - I'd be tempted to pay more. Time is something I'm always short of and it's becoming more valuable to me
