This video was released around 2018, but was temporarily hidden from view due to rights issues.
I remembered those days and tried to upload it.
I would be happy if you could watch it.
I made remake of the $ 3 speaker.
I attached it to an enclosure made by hollowing out wood.
The type of enclosure is backload horn.
【Sound quality】
I could hear the bass while the sound path was as short as 80 cm.
Wood utilizes laminated rubber of rubber available at a relatively inexpensive price.
It is harder than the MDF board, so the sound sharped.
Although the enclosure manufactured with MDF was a feeling of being caught, the sound has become more vigorous by using rubber laminated wood.
【Design of enclosure】
Enclosure designed with spreading constant 1.2
The throat cross section is 10 cm ^ 2
The length of the conduit is about 80 cm.
The sound path is optimized to match the calculated value as much as possible.
【Production】
The enclosure we made this time can be produced with trimmer and saw blade (using band saw for animation), drilling.
The tree block is ordered on the net. I had you cut it to the specified size.

Another fantastic project ... I'm not sure I'd have created the internal baffle in the way you did, but we all do things differently ... cracking looking cabinets ... could also do this with more expensive drive units and get an even better sound 👍

Don't forget to mark the terminals on the loudspeakers. Red and black. If you change them on one speaker the stereo sound will be "out of space" and not in the middle.

I've built many cabinet using experimental ducts and chambers whose performance was nothing short of amazing. In my subwoofer cabinets, I build a box within the box that has ports tuned to 25Hz, 35Hz and 50Hz that remain chambered in the internal box, which I call a band-trap. It fires the lowest rumbling pitches straight into the body of the vehicle, and vents around 60-80Hz into the vehicle atmosphere. *The best performing cabinet I have ever built did this and with a $35 subwoofer and $50 monoblock amp, was one of the hardest hitting sub systems I have ever built and owned, until I spent major money on a competition grade sub.* That speaker alone was more than 2x the cost of the previous build it replaced, and only 30% better performance upon completion. That brought the build cost up to easily $400.

I don't think this complex and beautiful work resulted in a significant improvement in sound. It's hard to expect anything good from such a small speaker. And this was done without calculating the bass reflex.

The sound comparison wasn't giving me much. I could hear there's more depth and color to the built-in speakers over the originals, but I believe the sound must have been more vibrant for you, too. Maybe it's due to editing, maybe it's YT, but definitely I'd expect more difference.

Making this speaker it allows the sound expand within the box. The original black speakers have thin shells that vibrate as the music is playing. The wood vibrates but the air pressure from inside the box flows through and there is no back pressure. Think of blowing up a balloon while pushing on it with your hands. That is the little black speakers. The wood speakers sound fuller and more pleasant to listen to the music.

Yes, showing the music at the beginning and the last, is fine. But when you are building things; I like the ONLY sound to be; is you using your tools.❤💯 For one of the things that makes your channel is NOT noises, etc! (Glad we have a muting button on the PC)... Otherwise kind Sir; you are Truly one of THE greatest DIY'rs I have ever seen, on KZfaq. Keep it up "cut-above" Genius! 💯for sure!

This project is expensive because of the cost of wood that gets routed away. Only a little of the supplied wood ends up retained. So arguably it would deserve a nice speaker driver. Visaton, Vifa, Peerless, Tang Band, Dayton - range $8-$30 per side. But then it wouldn't make a clicky thumbnail and title for KZfaq. A conundrum.
