I’m 25 and had never taken the supplement prior to September and my blood work showed perfect scores for creatine previously (not too high or too low). I’ve been vegan for 8 years and vegetarian all my life prior to it. I had read that creatine can be found in tofu and avocado. But maybe it just helps create it. I take creatine now because I’m studying for state exams and working out 3-5 times a week and I have noticed that I don’t get tired while working out and I’m able to do more (more weight, more reps).

Fun fact: Our bodies produce our own creatine and many other nutrients. We synthesize creatine primarily in the liver, kidneys, and pancreas using three amino acids: arginine, glycine, and methionine. The body typically produces about 1 to 2 grams of creatine per day. Another fun fact: Creatine is not well absorbed via diet, at least not from animal products anyway. Creatine supplements seem to be effective.

I’ve been plant based since 2015. Started creatine 2 months ago along with lifting weights. I’m seeing positive benefits 100%. Noticed memory improvement along with an energy increase. I started working out at the gym for the first time ever at the beginning of 2022. I’ve maintained the same routine and now that I’m on CR, in just a couple months I’ve spanked my ‘22 gains like it was nothing. Surpassed them by a significant amount.

So if you supplement with creatine, does that down-regulate your body’s own production of it? If so, what happens when you stop supplementing with creatine? How long does it take to return to “normal” levels of production? Probably studies looking at that haven’t been done yet. But it’s something I’d like to know.

I took creatine years ago because I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and some research suggests it might help with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, and it did seem to help some, but ultimately resolving my IBS symptoms seemed to do the most in actual dealing with chronic pain. Recently I've gotten back into taking creatine and hydroxymethylbutyrate because I've taken up strength training to try to get a bit leaner. The evidence does seem to suggest there's a small effect in increasing muscle mass when combined with exercise. Another thing that's really good for muscle gain is getting enough dietary nitrates or arginine, mostly found in leafy greens and roots. It also helps reduce muscle soreness.

I'm 74, vegetarian almost vegan, and I take a gram of creo monohydrate a day mainly to support calisthenics which I took up during the lockdown. I used to take more but I developed symptoms of renal failure so I stopped taking it. At the time I had 4 muscle ups. When I stopped the creo my performance dropped from 4 MUs to 1 which I managed to maintain for a year, then I couldn't do it at all. So I went back on the creo at a low dose and a different supplier. I had blood work done to check kidney markers and they were all fine. I'm back to 3 MUs now and I expect to get to 5 before the end of the year. Yes it's slow going but it's fun and it's great to feel strong.

I believe the myostatin protein slows muscle growth. I'm coming to this after taking 5g of creatine for the first time yesterday 30 minutes before my workout. I am vegan, been vegan for about 7 years, been gymming almost a year consistently and I was sort of reaching a plateau with some workouts. I don't want to seem like I'm hyping the stuff, and obviously 1 day is barely statistically significant, but Whoa!! I had never had the mental gas and resilience to push myself like I did yesterday. I pushed harder on the bench, pushed way harder on the bicep and tricep workouts, I literally didn't want to leave gym. On top of all that I was just full of good vibes and a lot more conscious as I interacted with people. It's too early on to make any conclusion off that single burst in energy, I'll be on creatine for the next 2 months and perhaps will come back with an update on my progress if any.

@@89Rutger Day 1 on creatine is pretty much my norm now! I'm way more productive in gym. I struggled to go passed 50kg on bench, now I'm pushing 70kg without need for a spotter. My body has benefitted a lot from the extra kick I get because I push more on all workouts. I have a lot more gas to push to failure often, and I don't suffer immobilizing DOMS anymore. I know this well because I can now push my calves more without fear that the DOMs won't make me fail to walk. Previously every time I'd push my calves a lot, I'd fail to walk for a day or two. Now I feel the soreness but still go about my days normally. In general, It's been amazing and has offered me good gains. I recommend it.

Plant based eaters tend to have lower creatine levels in their bodies, as was mentioned in this video. And looking at blue zones most of the centenarians are eating predominantly plant based so i think the low creatine is just a marker that they were eating a healthier diet while higher creatine is a marker that someone is eating more meat so they die sooner. I dont think it's the cause of longevity. I dont think there is any data on whether supplementing creatine increases or decreases longevity in humans because i highly doubt most older generations are supplementing at all. It's all diet related. Studies in mice though showed creatine supplements increased longevity. We aren't mice, but it would take decades to do a similar study in humans, so for now, that's all we have.

you know all your immune cells and the slime in your nose, renewing your damaged tissue, etc. it all takes up protein? i used up 24 packages of tissues when i had the flu (or covid, i didnt test because idgaf) for a week last month. im on keto diet to lose weight, works so far, but i made an exception to drink some honey milk for my throat when i was ill. i always tend to throw in what my body tells me to when im ill, if i know its not smth im addicted to because of chemical abuse from industry. long story short, i was feeling fine (ill but fine), had high fever, epsiodically felt really cold, ate my normal food, arms and other extremeties felt weak (when making a fist e.g.) but overall body told me "its fine, just wait it out". on the fifth day i felt really down somehow and had insane cravings for meat. ate 750 grams of shrimp :D (only thing i had in the house since i freeze some of them for bad times) immediately felt better. you body can store vitamins (some up to 6 years), fats (body fat), sugar (glykogen or in the end also fat), but protein? only thing that could be considered a "storage" is your muscle mass and the body rarely touches that unless it has to (if you skinny to begin with, welp). so yeah, make sure your body as enough bioavailable protein if you get ill and or dont get better afterwards. it most likely has everything else. PS i know its a vegan video and you prob not gonna eat meat but at least stuff more of the high protein value veggies in you. daily (since it cant be conserved).

I've taken it for periods of time and definitely notice a difference in muscle with no extra effort and it's really cheap. It's basically the only more or less harmless fitness shortcut I can think of, so don't knock it 'til you try it 😅 It's like drinking fine sand, but fine sand that makes the effort of exercising pay off more 🤷‍♀️

15:03 - it’s probably the small sample size that’s the cause (42 subjects, so assume around 10 people per group), but the the “before” measurement of “veg creatine” vs the “before” measurement of the “veg placebo” (which should have no difference) is of a similar size to the “after” conditions of the 2 creatine groups. The larger increase for veges is interesting enough that you’d want someone to try to reproduce it with a larger study, but I wouldn’t draw any conclusions from this study on its own - a single hyper-responder could throw the numbers out in any group.

It sounds like you were obese & now you are fasting, & that's why you feel better. Beyond that, you're experiencing the same kind of high anyone does when joining a cult, only your cult harms & murders innocent animals needlessly. All you really need is self-control, & to overcome your tendency towards gluttony. Eating only meat is satisfying your gluttony in the short term. 45 days is too short to prove anything. You could have eaten nothing for 45 days, lost even more weight, & felt even better. The only problem being your gluttony levels would have been going through the roof. Perhaps you should ask yourself, why should animals suffer & be slaughtered, just to feed your out of control gluttony? It's your problem, not theirs.

I don't remember creatine being labeled a nootropic, but I can def believe that some obscure tiny study exists that shows an absurd amount of it injected into rats makes them complete mazes quicker or something. Usually where claims like "creatine helps ADHD" come from. Try nootropic compounds like uridine, phenylalanine, L-theanine, L-tyrosine, etc.
