Fantastic 1st day of the 2023 year. Went exploring with some new friends and found a bottle dump full of goodies. I also demonstrate how to layout a privy to determine size and depth before digging it. Hope everyone has a fantastic year and here we go.

I believe the uranium glass is a refrigerator dish and would have had a glass top that matched it. Used to store food back in the day. Great dig and great bottles. Loved the sodas with the horses head.

What a great way to start the new year! That uranium piece looks like the top to a butter dish, maybe? It sure is pretty, even with a chip in it.

The green square is a butter dish cover. Without looking I believe it is called Crisscross pattern.

That mustard jar is a Heinz or a French's who also made the squatty-sided mustards. The later bots of Heinz would have the bot number in the center and the maker's mark (i.e, Hazel-Atlas) with the H A would be post-1923 maker's ID.

The reason for the later ball tip concept. Created in Oregon in the mid-1960s by at least me and one of my father's bottle collectors. He saw me grinding the rod tip into a smaller tip point (faster penetration and super accurate sounding of metal, iron, aluminum, tin, wood, glass, pottery, stone (granite vs concrete, slate, shale, clay, basalt, breccia, mudstone, ...) by wiggling the rod sideways scratching of the surface, but also ground the sides back of the tip into a "V" shape so that it would have less soil friction on the probe - and pulling it out - as well as having some soil sampling. The friend devised a metal cap to put onto the rod tip, with a miniscule slightly larger diameter, keeping the very pointed tip, so that he did the same removal of the rod friction that I totally didn't get solved with my first invention. The semi-larger pointed tip allows the same metal rod to slide down the hole, the same as the outermost diameter of the ball to have contact with the front and sides of the probing matrix. Try just using a solid rod, same diameter all the way to the tip and see how much your push and then grunt having to pull out the impacted rod !!! ....

I have just retired after working for Anchor for 36.5 years. When I started there, we had drum machines. I have not seen a half missing middle finger in a long time. You cannot adjust on the fly. I brake for old bottles.
