Making a new birch handle and touching up the teeth on my Sandvik crosscut handsaw. I'm no professional and I don't have anything to teach, this is just me, sharing my thoughts and my work. Join me as I'm learning fine woodworking!

I have a handsaw like this, very rusty and I'm thinking of doing a Japanese handsaw with it ...

Thanks! Same stuff as the planes but I'll drop the info here as well: I use sewing machine oil for both lubrication and rust protection, just a very thin coat applied by Paul Sellers-style rag-in-a-can. I don't think there's anything special about sewing machine oil but it's colorless and thin and seems to work very well.
