crosstrainingenduro.com Basic clutch skills with an emphasis on cross training - trial technique applied to dirt riding. Let us show you how to ride dirt bikes using enduro techniques and dirt bike techniques. Graham Jarvis says clutch technique is a key fundamental to extreme enduro riding and we agree. Here are easy clutch slipping techniques to learn which should help with all aspects of your dirt riding technique and clutch control on hill climbs, mud and slippery terrain. Become a subscriber to this dirt bike channel, Cross Training Enduro, for extreme enduro training tips vids with techniques from Graham Jarvis and Tim Coleman on traction, wheelies, pivot turns, clutch control, and other critical skills for learning how to ride a dirt bike videos for beginners or enduro racers... and when learning how to slip the clutch on a dirt bike. The clutch is just used for taking off and changing gears, right? We got the hang of that when learning to ride, but many of us don't move on from there. Clutch work is one of the main reasons why so many of the top extreme enduro riders like Graham Jarvis are former trials riders. Trials riders learn to use the clutch almost constantly for many of the advanced techniques, and these translate across to dirt riding, at both slow and fast speeds. What do all the world's best extreme enduro riders have in common? Almost without exception they are former trials champions who applied who have applied trials techniques to their dirt riding skills to tackle some of the world's toughest events - Wildwood, Erzberg, The Roof of Africa and Hells Gate... and when learning how to slip the clutch on a dirt bike. The growth of extreme enduro, endurocross and hard enduro events leads to cross training enduro - trials skills changed to dirt riding on enduro bikes. Almost all the best extreme riders are previously trials champions. Balance in your dirt bike riding also means you can spend more time standing on the footpegs in tough terrain instead of sitting - so you will have far more control. And they use their clutches a lot! Anything you can do to lighten your clutch will make these techniques easier. Enduro training tips are based on techniques from Tim Coleman, Chris Birch, Graham Jarvis and other hard enduro riders. So get into it and learn how to ride enduro bikes - our vids range from basics for the beginner dirt rider to advanced hard enduro racing for experienced riders. The growing interest in extreme enduro has seen a resurgence in trials riding riding internationally, and many dirt riders are now joining trials clubs to improve their overall clutch skills for basic dirt riding or hard enduro events and endurocross. These enduro training vids cover many dirt riding skills and dirt bike techniques for improved off road riding. Cross training applies trials to enduro techniques. Man what can I say.... this should be training video #1, thats one thing I love to play around with, and practicing clutch and throttle control has made the balance exercises easier. I'm always pissed that I can't GO somewhere to ride, but doing these drills IS riding, and then when the dirt bike gods allow me to ride some trails, I'm better for it!

Thank you so much for posting these videos! I'm a new rider and have been integrating the techniques I've learned from them. I recently upgraded my stock clutch and friction plates and the springs with a higher-quality stiffer Hinson kit. I converted my cable clutch actuator to the Magura hydraulic style. Huge difference in both grip and ease of use! I've been practicing my ability to slip the clutch. With this technique, I've been able to conquer more technical terrain on the first try and have incurred less bumps, bruises, AND bike damage in the process.

I've mastered the one finger clutch on my trials bike a huge step forward in control for me. In this video you mentioned you've got a separate video on how to drop the clutch and, "zapping"? Could you point me towards that video? I'd like to know more basically exactly what you do to the clutch when you need to ride and slip the clutch like say going uphill and stuff. Like do you always have to start at full engagement whenever you apply the clutch, or can you also do partial engagement of the clutch?

Love these vids, great information for all of us. However, not everyone myself included can do the 1 finger clutch operation bit. Just like The Donald I suffer from smaller hands and while I can reach the clutch lever with 1 finger my poor index finger is just not strong enough to pull it in. I suspect that Clake clutch lever would be the ticket for me but holy crap they are spendy, mine as well get a Rekluse aye?
@crosstrainingenduro
@crosstrainingenduro 7 жыл бұрын
problem i found with the rekluse a few years back was those heavier springs made it really hard to pull the clutch in for gear changes etc, not sure if the current models are still the same.
@GeneMcEntire
@GeneMcEntire 7 жыл бұрын
Yea I've noticed that with some of the different models and bikes. I've had a few different types on multiple bikes and have noticed that myself. I run a Core EXP 3 on my 450 XCF and it feels 100% identical to stock. Had a Z start pro on my 09 300 XC and that made the clutch an easy 1 finger pull, super light. I had a reg z-start on a old 300 and that was really tough to pull but it was not meant to even be use able and they were right, it was not! Wish we had some re-sellers of that Clake here in the US, would love to check it out...!

I was wondering if you could mount a camera to you handlebars that would film your fingers to show your clutch control? I think it would be another interesting way to see how often the clutch is used. I've been riding motorbikes for years now but never had the confidence and money to do my test. I'd always put it off or sell my road bike and spend money on my motocross bike lol. Then redo my cbt buy another road bike and never do my test... Nows a different story, i got the money and 5 bikes but no liscence to legally use them on the road, so I went and done my test. I done it all perfectly except for I done it all too fast so i failed haha. The only thing besides speed tgey commented on was my fingers. FINGERS!!! They don't like you having a finger or two on the clutch and brake levers. "FINGERS FINGERS!!!" "I can't help it! I can't break habbit!!"😂 So during this course I done for my test I was know as 'fingers'

I've got that dropping clutch is the thing that you rev a bit and simply dropping clutch fully. And now slipping clutch is the one that I should use when RPM gets low on hill climb right? So I apply a little amount of clutch for short period of time as I rev up, then power will come up again right? Then is it like very short time applying clutch? I heard many around me says I will wear out my clutch if I keep using slipping clutch that long time. How about you? Do you slip clutch short period of time and as RPM comes up you fully drop it? So many questions! Please give me some advice dirt bike professor.
@crosstrainingenduro
@crosstrainingenduro 8 жыл бұрын
+Youngje Shin i never liked slipping my clutch because i thought i would wear it out too fast. but they are incredibly long wearing, i have never worn out clutch plates, and i don't know anyone who has replaced theirs. i think motocross guys would wear theirs out fast, they slip them a lot at high rpm out of corners, but for our sort of riding, they will last for years. when do you slip the cluch for a long time? any time traction is poor e.g. mud, creek beds, wet rocks. advanced riders will slip the clutch up hill climbs (we'll do a vid on that soon).
@aswedvxc
@aswedvxc 8 жыл бұрын

billy leverton ??! we know almost nothing about good riding, and even less about weight loss lol. all the usual tips i guess... avoid fad diets but make permanent lifestyle changes. avoid crap food, eat healthily. exercise. ride as much as you can. keep meals smaller. scrap all foods with a high glycemic index e.g. avoid sugars and simple carbs. focus on foods that your body takes longer to break down.

You pull the clutch lever in slightly. Pretty hard skill I guess.

if i raced still i would use a rekluse as it is beneficial in so many situations. howerver, i ride for fun and feel like it is more fun without it. some uphills are still challenging to me that my buddies with the rekluse aren't even sure what gear they are in. i dunno. we go round and round about it. i think they are cheating little bitches lol ;)

Imma argue with you real quick. 2 fingers are fine for clutchwork

sure a few of the top competitors still ride that way. and plenty of clutches are heavy enough to need two fingers too.... :)
