It is all about your muscle memory. Just go with the flow of the truck and don't let your brain battle itself when steering. Never over correct, just lift up your foot off the deadman pedal and once stopped, correct yourself.

@@darrylwashington5548 After 6 months, I can confirm it's all muscle memory as NKY DIY stated. Once you get comfortable with the opposite steering, it will feel natural. It's terrible at first because you think it's the opposite of what it actually is for steering. You'll get better

I drove a stand up high reach crown for 2 years back in 2007 Tomorrow I'm being interviewed to see if I can drive it I think it's second nature for me , once you start again it all comes back I found these took a while to learn in training but once you learn it's really a nice lift to operate, you can become very proficient at it and it's a valuable skill to have , it gets you a higher wage I talk with employers and apparently it's very hard to find stand up drivers They are in demand I'm.not sure why more people aren't training for this position It can be difficult to learn these , good luck

Wow that is messed up! You made a good choice in your circumstance. Really, if you aren't comfortable you should never drive a fork lift of any kind. @mrsantana9094

It actually does drive like a car, if you are traveling backwards, turning the steeler to the right causes the truck to back and left, a car does exactly the same thing. I think the big problem with this version of the truck is that there is no tire angle indicator like you have on other machines so you really don't know how much your tire might be swinged to the right or left which, can be potentially dangerous if you're inside a truck, experienced drivers turn the steeler in one direction until it bottoms out and then the other way a number of turns to re-center the wheels so they can get their bearings ... I have seen drivers at my facility who have been driving for over 4 years and they still have close encounters when operating this machine, as a matter of fact, at least one driver looses their license every few months due to over steering mistakes ... the other problem with this truck is how you move forward and backwards, you have to push on the joystick and pull to go back ... if you're not careful you might apply upwards pressure and accidentally raise the forks when going backwards with a load, the rookies do this a lot and before they know it, their forks are several feet in the air! The tilt feature on this truck is also retarded, you press the bottom bottom to tilt down and the top to tilt up...that might seem like good logic but it is not, the bottom button should tilt up and the top should tilt down perhaps this analogy comes from me flying airplanes where I'm used to pull back on the stick to raise the nose of the airplane and pushing forward to tip the nose forward. It will take an individual on average from 1 to 4 months of continuous operation to learn how to really drive this machine well. If you work at companies like Amazon who will take your license for virtually anything, you are in for a roller coaster ride ... Amazon will take your license if they see even a single box drop from the top of the load. I remember when I started operating order pickers and I lost grip of a coffee box, I lost my license for dropping a box that weight absolutely nothing and had no damage ... when it comes to fork lifts, if you work at Amazon, they will take your license even if you lightly tap anything in the facility ... paranoia to the max where most drivers think it's so childish they have literally turned in their licenses ... drivers here loose their license on a weekly basis for the dumbest shit.

I'm training on this model, its not that bad, but you need to get used to the controls. After a few hours, I can probably do anything slowly, but need time to think about the controls. Basically the best advice is to get trained, and keep trying. It is just a system you have to learn.

@NKYDIY

I think I meant or said never tilt your forks lower while in the air. This is how you tip a forklift when you tilt forward with a load in the air.
@michaeldelguidice1683
@michaeldelguidice1683 5 жыл бұрын
Yes he meant never tilt the forks forward with a load in the air. The pallet will slide off your fork and fall off. Even if you are able to correct your mistake quickly. Tilting forward in the air shift the weight of the load, and like the comment above says. If it's a heavy load it could even cause a forklift to tip over. Either situation is very dangerous, and could get you fired, or you could destroy company property and get fired. Injuries and destroying or damaging products or machinery is a serious mistake, that could result in all kinds of repercussions

This setup is one of the most asinine setups I've ever dealt with! I'm a rockstar on a sit-down lift, but these stand-ups make me feel like I'm on "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride!" Yeah, the "reverse" steering setup blows a*s, but those fork controls are beyond jacked. One should have to pull back (push down) on the joystick to raise the forks, and push down on the toggle switch to tilt the mast back (toward you.) Subsequently, pushing up on the toggle switch should tip the mast forward (away from you), and pushing forward (or up) on the joystick should lower the forks. Am I right?! Apparently, more new hires at the company I work for, walk out over these lifts than for any other reason. I don't know that a company that won't even let its FORKLIFT drivers "sit down on the job" is worth working for!
@jimsox881
@jimsox881 Жыл бұрын
No shit . Drove a sit down for over 9 years . Learning this one now . Yikes . . I'm over 50 years old and I have all these youngsters racing around me and rolling their eyes at me they seem to hop right on and pick it up. Aggravates me. Added pressure due to 150 of them zooming around opposite directions horns blowing.. etc...4 days and I'm still a little apprehensive.. . Reverse steering is made even more difficult due to a little twist control not a steering wheel. Which uses your thumb to perform all functions . While facing sideways. I'm slowly learning individual moves but still cannot swing in while raising the forks simultaneously, Although it is physically possible I can't haven't been able to perform that yet they give you a 4 weeks. . So I'm not stressing it.I know it's possible . Someone mentioned another videos I've seen to just relax and feel the string for which way you're going you're just not used to the reverse steering because of muscle memory. I'll get it. Not for others. Just to prove it to myself. BTW how do you hold the joystick while pressing the tilt button?. Thanks
