Pensive Thoughts: I fell asleep 😴 💤 while this 33 min video was rendering via iMovie last night and that is why it wasn't published yesterday, my apologies. Here is the 3rd Draft of my film and there may be a 4th... That being said, yes, this was my honest review of the reMarkable 2 e-ink tablet between days 46 and 48 of using it every day. And if my son asks, nope, it was not a sponsored video. Oh yeah, there were two days I wasn't able to use it fully for I thought it was actually broken until I replaced the marker tip, yeah, nothing like a $1.48 fix.
If you want to find out just about sending bookmarks - here is the shortcut to my other video: • reMarkable 2 Four Days...

Hello again! As it turns out every company has a different customer experience. I just got an email back from reMarkable about a stylus issue I was having last week. They quickly sent a reply back saying, "we are very busy right now... here are some FAQ links" Lots of organizations do this in hope that you, or me, the User/Customer will be able to resolve our own problems and leave them alone. Well, as it turns out they were right. I replaced the nib and the brand-new reMarkable plastic tip fixed the issues. However, there appears to be something off with the stylus and reMarkable Support Team now wants me to make & send them a video to further explain the problem - what? I am taken over 40,000 phone calls over the years working as a Support Representative working with many companies. I don't recall ever asking a customer to "send me a video or we cannot help you..." Now, I am not upset, just a little surprised. Am I being too obtuse here KZfaq & Social Media Realm? Do I dare make a public video and send it to them in that fashion? Should I go all out and hire a videographer and shoot the video in a studio with excellent lighting, a producer, and sound engineer and in 4K quality? To be continued later today...

Some more input on “who is it for” - students - I’m a grad student in astronomy and astrophysics and something like this is very helpful not only because I fill 2000+ pages of work a year, but this also helps keep it organized. Also, I have really bad adhd, and this having no other distraction and purely being for writing is attractive to me because I get distracted so easily, and the tactile feel of a pencil on paper is really the only way I can remember things from lecture easy. Pens on glass screens never work for me because they don’t have that feeling

Just wanted to note there is one more difference between the market and marker plus. The marker plus has twice the number of pressure sensitivity levels as the original marker. So for people that draw on reMarkable that's a big difference.

I have the reMarkable desktop app installed on my both a PC and a Mac and I can easily search for my notebooks by title. There was a rumor that reMarkable was going to add more features for searching notebooks and new organization functionality to their tablets later this year. If there were to add OCR indexing to hand-written text, and then allow you to search by those indexed terms, well then... you can could find anything just like Google has been doing for the past decade plus😃

@@PeterHerget Thanks for your VERY informative reviews & Q&A update videos etc on this Remarkable2. I am an OTR Salesman with record sheets I have to fill out every visit, every day. 2021 has brought with it a new ownership of our UK side of the business ... and we are now having to complete LOADS more visit data 'tick sheet' type boxes on A4 size paper forms and in very small spaces. NOTHING is digitally captured and every day we have to take a photo of the completed forms and WhatsApp them to H.O. whereby they are checked and 'red pen ammended' the next day and sent back via email or WhatsApp. I am 50 in July and I'm a massive gadget nut, with loads of devices and different OS experiences ... digital input into different forms and data fields is second nature (I am a massive EPOC Psion nut btw!). HOWEVER ... the vast (95%+) majority of the other sales reps in the company are sailing much closer to retirement age / do NOT like tech AT ALL / struggle with the most basic of things (like just being able to open a PDF etc). So I stand out as being almost the SOLE odd one out (that could EASILY grasp new hardware (tablets rather than small standard BASIC smartphone) and digital forms, company shared cloud storage and reporting areas etc etc). SADLY again, this is not the case for others. This has been often the case with myself at most other companies, with one exception (a start-up telematics company in 2000/2001). So anyway ... I had remembered ReMarkable(1) and tonight have been looking at ReMarkable2 and reading reviews and looking at videos etc. Do you think this device would enable me to multitask, search and update record sheets and forms in a way that I KNOW would make me a lot faster (vs. endless phyical folders and ringbinders of stuff) ? The attraction is being able to SYNC it all the time (thus ALREADY have a copy of everything on (e.g. my Android work phone), in order to be able to forward stuff to H.O. as if I had taken a screen grab or phone pic of the relvant filled in forms at the end of each day. Maybe I'll have another step first to convert it to Jpeg (or whatever way makes me NOT STAND OUT) from 'the others' sending it back by photographing the manually filled in pads ;) IN SUMMARY: Can this device, (just about) pull off being able to keep me WAY more digitally organised with everything to hand all the time (in front of customers too) .... whilst ALSO enabling me to co-exist in a current 'paper world' that the new owners might have to stay in for another year or so (before we get the same tablet hardware and software that the sales teams use in mainland Europe) ?? Sorry for the very detailed and specific posting :) MANY THANKS, Andrew ;)

@@PeterHerget That would be the fence lol. I used an ipad for a couple of years with the JustNotes app but it after creating many notes it just collapsed and now doesn't work, the app that is. I should let you know that for about 4 weeks I was getting a random restart with my reMarkable 2. I thought I reMarkable was going to have to replace mine and then a software update was released that fixed the issue. The nice part is that during those four weeks I only lost about 10 words. The data was still able to save itself before the restart 🤞🤞Hooray to the programmers that tested the “auto-save” feature more than twice 😀

I had no problem with sending email at all. I had problem with my wi-fi connection and syncing. I used later tethered connection from my iPhone and it began to work and upload. So I think it was on the side of my home wi-fi connection. Those mails were sent on my iPhones’ connection as well. For updating - I got an email from reMarkable team yesterday and on the end of that email was a part with “Software rollouts”. They work on new updates and roll them out for smaller groups of random users to avoid bigger bugs and to have the time to remove them in case there are some. It can take few weeks to appear on the device.

Some fun news... reMarkable just updated their desktop app for Apple OS - yeah! I just installed update 2.5.0 and it appears to be much less buggy, smoother, and a little faster when browsing the 150+ files that I collected/created on my reMarkable 2. Yes, reMarkable is still a growing a company and if they added the following features even more people would buy their tablets: 1. integration with the Amazon Kindle eBook Store 2. integration with Evernote or Google Docs 3. backlight, sidelight, just some type of light to read & write in dark rooms 4. bookmarks - the ability to dog-ear a page 5. OCR (optical character recognition) for notebook, PDF, and eBook content - it would nice to be able to search through one of my 30 page notebooks and quickly find key details instead of just browsing through all 30 pages to locate just one paragraph

As far as the paper-like experience, YES, reMarkable is truly fabulous and I have not missed carrying around large, heavy notebooks. Now, ink on paper or pencil on paper, yeah, it is hard to match that tactile experience. I have tried the Likebook Ares, iPad, Kindle books, thousands of paper materials, over four hundred computers/laptops, dozens of smartphones, and nope, the reMarkable tablet is the closest thing to paper. Their electronic paper writing technique is the best I have had in the past five years since I first began using a digital stylus pen with my first tablet - the Microsoft Surface 3. Oh wait, I did use a tablet back in 2004 or 2003 and I don't recall the brand. Yet, I do recall the tablet was more of a concept idea and had a ton of bugs. I purchased the first generation Apple iPad when it first came out back in 2010 and it was wonderful. I truly enjoy being able to hand my reMarkable tablet to one of my kids and not worrying about them just watching KZfaq or playing some mindless game - that in itself and the nearly endless paper option is wonderful.

@PeterHerget
@PeterHerget 3 жыл бұрын
You share a notebook, PDF, or eBook directly from your reMarkable. You cannot check your emails on the reMarkable for there is no email app. When a notebook is shared the person views it as a PDF and your handwritten notes. If you choose to convert your handwritten notes to text, then yes, the user would view text.

I have some questions regarding the eraser feature. At 9:07, you can still see the erased "GRAY" but it is really faded. How long does it stay that way / when is it completely gone? Also, does erasing impact the health and life length of the device? For example, if I would cover the entire page in black and erase and repeat, would it after some time leave damage/dark spots that will not be able to be removed?

For one reason or another when you using grey ink on the reMarkable tablet, yes it does act differently when your erasing text or drawings. There is very little ghost 👻images or text on this e-tablet. When there is ghosting or electronic dust... it varnishes within seconds.

I'm having trouble finding an answer to this question. I like my ReMarkable 2 very much, and I use it for note-taking. Sometimes, I write about multiple subjects in the same notebook and I realize later that I want to have separate notebooks for each subject. It doesn't appear that I can extract pages to new notebook files (e.g. remove page 3 of a notebook and use it as page 1 of a new notebook). Does this functionality exist? I've tried a work-around of exporting the notebook as a pdf, extracting pages in Acrobat, and re-importing it. The problem is that I can't add pages to an imported pdf. (Can I?) Help!

Dear Peter, Yeah, that is a tough one and a difficult question. It is currently a dilemma with many reMarkable tablet Users. However, is are the steps 1. choose your notebook 2. click on the bottom left-hand corner and choose "Page Overview" 3. Now that you're in the Page Over tool menu that exists for any notebook, select the page or pages you want to move. 4. After you select the page click on the "Move" button on the top of the screen 5. Hello! I have a question. When I open the stroke drop down menu, those circles where you pick colors, stays on the screen in faded way but still noticeable even after close the stroke menu. They completely go away after you close the document and open it again. Do you think it is normal or my screen defective?

That is one pithy comment - thanks Ozzy! I have a few questions to understand fully your question: 1. What version of reMarkable 2 are you running? 2. What stylus do you use? 3. What colour of e-ink? 4. What pen style? 5. Does the error happen every single time? 6. Did you join the reMarkable BETA program...?

Can you search for your highlights and notes in a PDF? In addition, can you share certain pages of a PDF or must you share the whole document?
@PeterHerget
@PeterHerget 6 ай бұрын
You would need to manually search through your notes on a PDF for there is currently no OCR (optical character recognition) for searching anything. There are tags and bookmarks, folders, and you can search the name of any notebook, PDF, or eBook. Yes, you can share just one page or the entire PDF and then same goes for sharing Notebooks.

If a custom template has transparent pixels it will cause eraser issues.
@PeterHerget
@PeterHerget 2 жыл бұрын
Dear Mark, what do you mean by "transparent pixel"? Many of the templates on the reMarkable 2 have preset lines and it has not caused any eraser issues or ghost text. I have seen a slight delay after erasing a lot of text or a ton of ink from a drawing/sketch and then the template lines reappear.

@@PeterHerget If you load the custom template in to an editor it may show the background pixels have no color. In photoshop it appears as checkered grays. These areas will appear to erase and then come back. Then if you leave the page and go back it finally erases. If photoshop flatten layers and the transparent pixels will be gone and save it.

I have a question for you, how many pages can the remarkable have with all of its GB
@PeterHerget
@PeterHerget 2 жыл бұрын
I read online that it is around 11,000 pages. I have been using my reMarkable 2 tablet now for 495 days, and I have over one hundred notebooks, dozens of eBooks, dozens of PDFs, and many of my notes are page after page of drawings. And I just checked my storage - 2.51 GB of 6.41 BD used, and that means I have roughly 3.9 GB free after nearly 1.5 years of storing my notes, thoughts, books, and documents. So... I guess by the year 2024 I may need to upgrade :)

How many pages can you put in a notebook is there a limit?
@PeterHerget
@PeterHerget 2 жыл бұрын
I just made edits to one of my larger notebooks and that one I have been editing some January 2021 and it just reached 127 pages in length. Most of the pages in this large notebook have 100 - 200 words, all hand-written notes and drawings.

@@PeterHerget Ok thanks I have over 600 pages of genealogy to put into the supernote when it comes in January.
@PeterHerget
@PeterHerget 2 жыл бұрын
Are your 600 pages of genealogy all in one word document are would you be able to upload twelve different 50 page documents? The problems with an import: 1. I have a 50 - 100 page Word document, export it as a PDF, and then it is easily transferred to my reMarkable 2. The once a Word document stays as a PDF and no further pages, blank pages, can be added once your PDF resides in the reMarkable universe. You can make edits, highlights, share your notes within that PDF, export the entire PDF as needed, yet no blank pages - your 50 page Word document, now a simple PDF on your $400.00 RM2 tablet cannot grow. Does that help? Post Script Yes, I have asked reMarkable to add a feature to allow Users to add a blank page to an existing PDF and that was months ago. Now, there is a workaround, before I export my Word docs as a PDF I simply add an extra 5 - 20 blank pages and I number them with the Word footer program thus allowing more pages to my PDF inside the reMarkable realm.
