My gecko is currently going through the exact same thing. She didn't eat properly for months but now she is and I'm so happy. I'm currently also feeding calcium nearly everyday to get her back on track. Thanks for the informative video.

A friend of mine got a leopard gecko a few years ago and hasn’t been taking care of it well at all it’s no doubt he has this disease:( she decided she didn’t want him anymore and wanted to give him away I took him for free idk how to help him I’ve had him for a few months now I’ve spent lots of money on him buying everything I can think he could need I feel so so aweful for him he’s tiny and although he’s gained weight his tail is still skinny he has almost no fingers left from shedding problems having no humidity hide his hands Are in his armpits he walks on his elbows and he is able to get around and get to his food and water he’s a lot better than before but I’m so worried about him I want to be a good mother for him but I’m not an expert I’ve watched so many of these videos talked to petshops and it’s very embarrassing they always assume that I did this to him it breaks my heart :’( I just want him to have his last years happy and not in pain .. I love him very much I give him his vitamins and I alternate giving him meal worms and wax worms to fatten him up a little bit I feel like I need help I just want to try to get him as healthy as I can I know he won’t ever look like a regular leopard gecko but I want to at least give him a high quality life if I can

When it comes to giving your geckos D3 vitamins, do you use a vitamin like repashy brand OR the UVB light?? I have a girl i adopted and i brought her to the vet because i knew she had MBD, i am in the process of curing her but i just want to know your opinion what worked exactly for the D3 vitamins
@OliveDeuce5 жыл бұрын
I use a calcium powder and a vitamin powder (two separate powders) the vitamins I use are multivitamin powder by eco terra, but I’m sure you could use any.

Some of his issues are based on the enigma gene. He definitely has some enigma in him which is responsible for his striking pattern and trouble aiming. If anyone reading this is thinking about getting a leopard gecko or other herptile make sure to do thorough research into not only supplements and care but also morphs and what some morphs can have trouble with.
@OliveDeuce5 жыл бұрын
Canned Goods he does not carry the enigma gene.
@cannedgoods58405 жыл бұрын
Thats surprising I wonder what morphs he is. Ive never seen a gecko with the signature crest and three spots that didnt carry the gene. I guess I should do more research.
@OliveDeuce5 жыл бұрын
Canned Goods I have no idea what morph he is, because I got him from petco :(. But he does not display any signs of enigma what so ever. Enigma has to deal with the cognition of leopard geckos. I have never heard anything about the enigma gene being a physiological trait, I always thought it was neurological.
@cannedgoods58405 жыл бұрын
It is neurological but it affects aim too. Most of his issues that u mention are definitely mbd but the aim made me curious. I got a gecko with enigma from petsmart and the first noticeable trait was aim but soon I saw her seize and she often cant find things in her enclosure. She also head bobs and circles. If your gecko isnt really doing any of those then it likely doesnt have enigma unless its the mildest case I have ever heard of. If there are geckos with the signature markings and little to no issues Id be interested in learning more about them.
@OliveDeuce5 жыл бұрын
Canned Goods yeah and the whole reason I disclosed him having enigma is because his aim is not like this anymore. It was two years ago when he had mbd, but not before or after
@TheYengirl6 жыл бұрын
Believe it or not my rescued red squirrel is getting treated for mbd too. Red squirrels in captivity are seriously prone to mbd. You would think eating nuts of all kinds p, apples and assorted fruits would be enough. It's not! Seems they do more harm than help. His back legs are still not working right but they said it could take up to 6 months to correct. Calcium calcium calcium!
@OliveDeuce5 жыл бұрын

I just got a gecko from someone else. I think he might have MBD. I’m not sure, though. He is eating, but he doesn’t eat a whole lot. I think 3 mealworms is the most I could get. He will eat super worms, but I don’t want to only feed him those. Anyways, I noticed he was shaking when he walked and I know tremors can be a side effect. Do you think I’ve caught it early enough if it is MBD?
@OliveDeuce5 жыл бұрын
Sarah Howard if he’s an adult leopard gecko, they should be eating at least 10 mealworms every couple of days. At least. If they are barely eating it could be due to prior shedding, late in the year, or MBD.
@OliveDeuce5 жыл бұрын
If you notice the pictures in my video here, when a gecko has mbd, their joints are almost rounded, they do have trouble moving around and almost don’t want to, when my gecko had it, she just stayed in her hide all the time, depressed, because mbd weakens the bones and joints.
@OliveDeuce5 жыл бұрын
If you are dusting it’s food with clacium or vitamins every feeding, you should be fine, this is the only way to 100% prevent mbd, because the only way it can be caused is by the lack of calcium. If you are doing this, there should be nothing to worry about. I am not an expert what so ever, and I haven’t done much research on tremors, so I recommend you do that in your spare time.
@OliveDeuce5 жыл бұрын
Sarah Howard but tremors are in fact a huge symptom of mbd

Hey, I just figured out my leopard gecko Calvin has mbd. His joints look like they’ve gotten limp and his aim is also terrible. I also kind of never really put to mind that calcium was vital as a juvenile. He’s in his adolescence stage now but I’ve been feeding him liquid calcium everyday now. Can this help restore him to how he once was?? I also spray his meal and waxworms with the calcium as well but he doesn’t really eat. Or when he tries and aims bad he gives up. Please help! Or just lmk if Im helping him.
@OliveDeuce3 жыл бұрын
Princess Rodriguez this is the same exact situation as I was in. Please watch and listen to the video. I’d recommend calcium dust over liquid, it’s most likely more concentrated. Watch what I did in the video, if he’s not eating he will still lick. Put calcium dust and once in a while vitamin dust on your finger and let him lick it off everyday, multiple times a day, until he eats again
@princessdaughterofGod3 жыл бұрын
Olive Shupe thanks. I took tips off of your video. I started with liquid calcium and he does drink it but if calcium powder is best I’ll definitely purchase it
@OliveDeuce3 жыл бұрын
Princess Rodriguez i would recommend it, it’s only about 5$. Hope you have a vitamin powder too, those are used less often but still needed

@OliveDeuce5 жыл бұрын
Oh No No i am no expert, so please seek veterinary help. But as you can see by the video, my gecko wouldn’t eat either so I would let him lick reptile calcium and vitamin powder off my finger so he could have it in his system. I would always leave a bottle cap of calcium in his tank too. After that he’s slowly started to have the drive to eat again. But I did this everyday until he would eat again.
