Awesome! Thanks for the point in the right direction. Yes, absolutely... the dream starts with a vision, and although the journey may sometimes be frustrating.... overall it’s a fun experience and quite rewarding when the finished product looks back at you in the garage.... been there prior projects. Can’t wait to share the progress with others...

Awesome mods You did to this Mark!!! I have an 01 CB750 Nighthawk in black,where I maintained the stock exhaust,but cerakoted the entire exhaust in black! Looks awesome. I also upgraded all turn-signal lights to LED's and the headlamp is also LED,and put on a Dark-shaded Mohawk windscreen and red aluminum levers and handgrips with a soft black rubber with red aluminum ends!!! Also stuck a Lithium battery on it to decrease the weight even more. Nice video Mark!!! :-)

Now time for an 836 kit, high compression, head work, and "1/4" or "1/2" race cams(old terminology). There's a nighthawk in my area for a good price. I want it. And now seeing yours, I want it even more and want to do about the same to my would-be one.

Thanks for replying. Yes, I know we can’t get them here. I’ve been looking online but I haven’t had any luck finding a good source. Kinda funny..... I’m trying to source parts before I even have the bike.... lol. But, I know I’m getting a NH. At 48, my hooliganism is far behind me, and I really don’t see myself attending any track days anymore either, so no more crotch rockets. But I want something sportier than a cruiser, classic styling, and affordable....hence, the NH. Once I find the right Hawk, I’ll build it up little by little. I like that bike as she sits, but the lines of the RC42 has already reeled me in. I wondered if the Euro tank would mate up to the side plates of the US Hawk. Your bike is the only one I’ve seen with that configuration. My plan is to convert the NH as close to the RC42 as time and money allow. I know the tank and panels will cost me. I’m prepared for that. It’s the front end that I know I’ll Have to save for. I like the dual rotor set up. The CB750, NH, RC42..... whatever ya wanna call it.... this bike has a lot of potential (as you already know). As with a few other owners I’ve spoken to online, I’d like to check in with ya for tips advise and overall”nighthawk-ism” once I bring one home. Great job on your bike, sir.

Tim Seymour that's the most fun part, dreaming and picking parts out. You need to go to ebayUK to find them. Usually 3 or 4 on there at a time. You can find all the rc42 parts there. The rc42 oil cooler is a direct bolt up and gives you twice the cooling ability.

Don't know about OP, but with these mods 120 mains would be appropriate. carbjetkits has a calc for the cb750 that u might find handy.

Love your Hawk. Hey, how did you get that Euro/Jap tank? I absolutely love that look. The NH has always looked great IMO, but I really do like the lines of the RC42. When you were looking for the tank, were you able to locate the side plates and rear as well?
@Irillus
@Irillus 6 жыл бұрын
TS7 getting that tank is certainly not a cheap thing. You're going to have to order one from Europe or Japan. They never made it in the states. You will have to do a little custom work to get your side panels to snap in but it's just a little bit of grinding with a Dremel tool. The tail unit for the RC 42 I believe mounts right up to the existing mounting points. I really thought about doing the rc42 side panel and tail but the cost just got too high. The side panel tail tail lights and seat would have ended up pushing me over my budget.

You also have to mount the rc42 tank in order to safely Mount the better-looking low-rise Superbike bars I have fitted. The stock Nighthawk teardrop tank requires high rise bars.

Great work, I always wondered if the tank would bolt right up. Will the RC42 wheels and brakes bolt up? I'm interested because the have discs front and back.
@Irillus
@Irillus 2 жыл бұрын
The RC42 tank bolts right up, but you need to trim about a 1/4" inch off the fronts of the side fairings to make them match correctly. Unfortunately as the RC42 has a disc in the rear and dual disc's up front. You would need the rear swingarm and front forks from the RC42 to do the wheel conversion.

Wow Great bike! Can you give me the link or part number for the 3 lights and their switches that you installed on the front?
@Irillus
@Irillus 6 жыл бұрын
Jay Ruiz the front signal/side road lights are two whay yellow signal and white driving light. The flexible signal is mounted to a custom cut aluminum frame that wraps around the top of the fork arms. That custom aluminum frame is bolted through the top triple clamp bolts as you can see in the video at 3:18. Not sure about the switches just get on eBay and look up 7/8 in LED toggle switch. The light below the headlight is a high-power off road spotlight that I custom modified to mount to the bottom of the headlight I installed. The headlight comes from kapscomoto.com. The standard low-power bulbs are replace with high power LED units.

good day. how to install speedo meter? I have same one.But rpm does not work properly. Could you tell me how make it working? thanks in advanced
@Irillus
@Irillus 6 жыл бұрын
yangheon Lee that was the biggest installation nightmare of my custom motorcycle building career. It is a huge ordeal to try to fix the sensor so that it will read RPMs. You will need to get a combination of capacitors and resistors. There are several forums that discuss how to do it. You just have to create a small circuit with a resistor and a capacitor in order to alter the frequency of the signal being sent from the engine itself. Don't try going from one of the spark plugs it will not work as the Nighthawk uses a special spark system that does not translate to any other type of tachometer. It's one of the reasons night tachometers are insanely expensive online period is because nothing else works for them. Like I said sit down for a couple of hours and use Google to search "Installing cheap eBay tachometer". Tons of people have face the same issues we have. And there are a couple smart electronic guys who figured out how to alter the frequency by putting small circuit in between the signal line in the new tachometer. After a year of trying to install the tachometer speedometer correctly I finally got it to read between 2000 and 8000 RPM correctly and the speedometer was absolutely dead on with GPS speed. Once you actually get the tack sending a RPM signal you will have to start to decipher how to actually set the tachometer. Setting the tachometer correctly allows it to read the RPMs correctly and the speed correctly from the magnetic sensor. That will take you a few days of playing with as well. I would just have your phone on top of your gas tank with a GPS speed showing write it for a little ways see how close the speed is and then pull over and adjust and keep doing this till the miles per hour match what your phone says. Good luck, and feel free to ask me any other questions you have.

Can you describe where did you connected the circuit to read RPM signal? To the coil? What values of capacitors and resistors did you use? I assume that you build a filter... can you send me a link to page with diagram? I tried to connect filter circuit to ignition coil but with no luck.

Yea I agree, whats the digital speedometer and tachometer?
@Irillus
@Irillus 6 жыл бұрын
Jaime Althoff not sure of part numbers but if you just search electronic speedometer / tachometer on eBay you will find this one quickly. I do warn you it is an absolute nightmare to install and took me over 8 months to finalize. Going back I would have made a different decision. It looks super cool and has all the functions that I want but it still was not worth the pain in the ass I went through. I'm running low rise Superbike bars. The gas tank is a Japanese / European Honda RC 42 gas tank which you have to have in order to run the low bars on a Nighthawk. The RC 42 gas tank bolts right up to the Nighthawk frame because both bikes shared the exact same frame internally. The headlight is a slant front Cafe Racer Style from Tapsco Moto. You have to do serious modification in order to mount the non side-mounted headlight. The horn also has to be relocated to the right side of the engine as you see in my video. This is so you can mount the headlight low enough to make it look right.

Totally different bikes. The last gen Nighthawks were good bikes with one hell of an engine. Always enjoyed riding mine, and it kept up with much more aggressive sport bikes.

No no no no! You can' not just start the engine and show off all the mods. You can not do this. You must explain all the mods. What worked what didn't. What you really like (about the lights for instance). or Maybe compair the gauges from the stock to the one that you've got there. What is going on here? These things must be explained. If you speak Spanish that is all good. Whatever. This video is just wrong! As a 1995 owner with some thoughts about my own mods , how am I going to respond to this demo? No words? That feeling i get every day when I spend time with my bike. No No No No! Bad Bad Bad. This video needs a redo. Come on now. I know you can.
