Maybe not quite the update you were looking for, but here's an update on the MK5 AWD conversion none the less. The project has taken a turn for the better so please be patient while we make this thing even more unique then it already is.

Hey guys thanks for the videos. I will be doing a quattro conversion on a mk2 octavia vrs tfsi (same platform as mk5 golf) and I have managed to get my hands on an A3 quattro tfsi for £300 with all the running gear.... Nice to see you doing this as gives me a heads up on what I will need to do. I belive that on my car I won't be needing to chop the spare wheel well as it sits a bit more backwards compared to the golf so fingers crossed.thanks

Technically they will work in the MK7. We just haven't had a car into to test how it fits with interior. That's the only reason we don't promote them for MK7s.

I’ve been lookin for that information about the angle drive bolting up to the fwd trans for years where do you find this stuff!! Also who makes the straight cut gears? I got a dsg and was just gonna dsg swap my mk5 cause I couldn’t find anything to build these trans besides the obvious golf r shift forks

We can supply the gear sets no problem. As for "where do you find this stuff" It's called working with them day in and day out and doing tons of homework comparing parts.

Great video, I’ve said before I’m trying to manual swap my 18 Passat GT with a 09 Audi tt 3.2 manual transmission, and AWD swap it it with a 14 VW cc 3.6 4 motion haldex, drive shaft and gas tank. Can you guy have syvecs write me a a stand alone program to make her fly… lol drive?????

Can you explain the differences between the haldex and 4 motion difference. I see some people boosting vr6 4motion. I want to know before I pick one up lol

The difference is some vehicles were labeled 4motion and had a more traditional torsion based AWD, and some were labeled with 4motion but had Haldex AWD. VW/Audi just confused people by doing so. In short, in a VW or Audi if the engine is mounted transverse and is AWD then it's Haldex based, if it's mounted longitudinal then it's completely different.

In this car easy, we're running Syvecs and a standalone controller. However we have another build coming that will be using more stock stuff in regards to the AWD.

You guys make really enjoyable videos. I own a 2017 VW Jetta GLI with a upgraded CTS turbo .I am at 400 hp now. So I guess that you guys are shooting for 550 or 600 hp?

@@COMotorsports It has a stock engine. I just had my guy install the turbo for me, the turbo was so big he had to drop the sub frame to get it on. Gonna do the meth kit next. Eventually I am gonna have ta build the engine.

Does that trick work with the mk4 trans as well? I thought you couldn't use the lsd with a syncro/haldex rear.

If you're referring to a 5spd no. But the 6spd 02M should have the previsions as well.

Hi guys - Great set of videos and info. Ever got this project finished ? Iam From MaxTuning Israel and am actually going about this the other way on our Shop's MK6 GTI - already have 800hp Engine build, Syvecs tuned car - and now looking into converting it to AWD. I was wondering about the Electrical aspect of things - especially with the syvecs on. Coding everything to work with the secondary fuel level and haldex harness stuff... Where can i contact you about some information. Thanks

You'll find another video on our channel of a MK6 GTI we did the swap in a weekend. That's my daily. The issue with the coding and stuff all comes down to the modules that are in the car, and it's different across the board so there's no straight forward answer. Fueling we just pinned into the cluster, however the ABS module needs to be able to be coded for AWD. The one in my GTI is not so even though I can get it to accept the coding I still have a light on.

So does the system behave like a normal haldex ? i.e when there is no slip its FWD and when it detects slip the AWD comes in - or you have it setup to be always in AWD mode ? About the fuelin - what do you mean "just pinned into the cluster" ? Anyway , sourcing all the parts needed at the moment - will probably buy a donor car. Would a S3 8P work ? Thanks

hello guys, is the same conversion possible with a dsg 6 dq250 gearbox I have the rear axle and the axle, the driveshaft and I'm missing the gearbox differential and the tank.what am I missing for a complete conversion.for golf 5 gti.merci pour vos reponse.

The FWD version likely does not have provisiona for the angle drive so you'd need the trans and angle drive as well.

Looks like they are running standalone. You can run with or without basically anything on that.

Any 4cyl Audi trans will bolt to any VW/Audi. However there is true quattro (longitudinal mounted) and Haldex (transverse Mounted) which are completely different AWD systems.

Sure with the right money. However you will spend way more making power on a 2L 8v then what you could easily make swapping in a 1.8t. But for reference, the bottom end in my drag car is actually a MK4 2.0L, and we made just over 800whp the last time I had it on the dyno.
