The People's Court

The People's Court

Күн бұрын

The plaintiff has managed hundreds of rappers and agreed to represent the defendant’s son. He says he hasn’t been paid and is out tens of thousands of dollars, so he’s suing. The defendant says her son is very talented. She says she and the plaintiff agreed on a return on the profit, but she hasn’t received a dime. The defendant argues the plaintiff will get paid once she gets paid. She’s countersuing for jewelry and the cost of a laptop.

If she was innocent, she would have her son in court. That was a dead giveaway, she played it off, as her son was so traumatized, he just could not bare any more pain. O please.. She sure wasnt a very good drama actress, nor to bright to bring in that expensive fur coat.. A slap in the plaintiff's face. She was the con, in my eyes.

Well, maybe if JM wasn't cutting him off every 10 seconds, he would. Plus he seemed to have more evidence when he was in the hallway but I think with a case like this it's going to take more time to sort out than one episode would allow. That's basically why JM didn't give him much time to explain it and dismissed it with prejudice.

True enough. I really think the judge should have given the man more time to explain his side. Professional music contracts (and the music industry in general) can be very complex. He seemed like at the end out in the hall he had more evidence to present, but the judge just quickly brushed him off. I honestly think she did that because his case was going to take more time to sort out than one episode would allow. But it's obvious to a blind man that the defendant was shady.

She didn’t give a clear answer but it’s probably correct. My daughter went to an online school for 1.5 years during high school that was offered by our school district. It had a specific name that was very generic sounding and kind of a mouthful so we usually just shortened it to “E-learning” because that was part of the name. A lot of people in the program just called it “home school.” So if somebody asked any of the parents where our kids went to school they sometimes got vague answers like “home school”. She definitely should’ve named the actual online program. But her un-specific answer doesn’t mean she was making it up. Edit: I just re-watched that part of the video. She answered “His school…Inspire”. So “Inspire” is the name of his online school.

I think if he actually answered her questions that she was asking he'd understand she was trying to get the lingo and people's names straight. But he was so stuck on the mom keeping money from him that he'd ramble and JM would get frustrated because her questions wouldn't get answered. He just thought he'd say they owe me money and the judge would give it to him. Plus he took the album off of Spotify and iTunes or whatever so how does he expect the album to make money so he can get paid. All in all it was on him to provide evidence and a signed contract alone in this case wasn't enough because of the dollar amount and all the people he claimed were apart of the scam and all the people he claimed said they didn't know anything about a contract. He pawned earring that didn't belong to him and the police have them. He did so to get paid by any means necessary but he might end up doing time because of how much he received. The truth will come out soon enough. It always does. But that boy should continue to make music and use the sources he already has, kurupt and the dog pound. When he turns 18 he can drop his mom bc it looks like they way she does business is holding him back!!!

@@HangOnSloopy...she is an extremely bias judge. It is her responsibility to under the basis of how a record label contract is created and who would be involved in signing cuz she is the deciding judge. She had time to review the cases because she has explained how she looks over submitted court docs. The Defendant couldn’t even make sense of how her son is homeschooled but the school is handling it. That’s not how home schooling works smh the judge didn’t even question who is going to hack an email to send a second contract to the Plaintiff. The mother, if anything, should’ve been pissed off of a possibility of fraud but she wasn’t..that’s an obvious red flag. Judge didn’t ask what the husband did to afford a fur coat, the daughter’s jewelry costing so much.. Judge was instant,y convinced that the mother didn’t know how to upload music to Spotify/iTunes when she orchestrated how her son got his alleged music deal and Whitney and Bobby following, etc.

The plaintiff didn't do a good job of presenting his case. He came across as confused and not on top of things. It’s so odd the A&R guy writing him telling him cease and desist from contacting me. I wonder was the plan to use this guy for his contacts and ability to get all these artists on his album and now they just don’t want to pay. She said he’s on the charts which means the music is generating revenue…where is it? Clearly this guy doesn’t know what he’s doing and has gotten played, luckily she dismissed the case without prejudice so he can go do some more investigating and find out where the money is going…the way her demeanor changed after they left out of the court room I think she sitting on some money she either getting it directly or they got some kind of shady way they’re receiving the money and he doesn’t know it. And why she up there cheesing with all her grill out I hope she know he can re-file and bring her back to court as soon as he get his ducks lined up. She too calm for somebody who ain’t been paid if she was waiting to get paid like she claims, she would be just as mad as the plaintiff is.

Who thinks a handyman in Lancaster can launch a rapper’s career? I mean, I’m sure he has some experience, but come on, lady. 😅

To be fair, I think they are referring to Lancaster California which is just north of LA where a lot of music does take place.

"Why isn't your son here?" "He's depressed, and he's in school. He sees this man like an uncle and not seeing him has him in a depression" She never answered a single thing, would always pivot to how saintly her son is. If he's homeschooled, he could've appeared but the mom knew her son is too stupid to keep up the lie and would've cracked the same way she got called out on the fur coat then suddenly "Everything else is costume jewelry".

She’s not worried about her outfit because of a fashion or flattery reason.. she was testing her as far as trying to determine if she actually has the money. If the judge definitely believed she didn’t have that money, she would have made a final ruling against the plaintiff instead of dismissing without prejudice. She made the right decision because I believe that woman has that money!

It's unfortunate, but from what I have been hearing, the music industry is very corrupt, especially with rap. I can see from the defendant she is really looking forward to her son becoming a superstar - ka- ching!

You are correct but it’s all genre’s, fortunately for artists these days with all of the available platforms they don’t get ripped off by management nearly as much.

I just wish the plaintiff took this high profile case to a real court. WHY the People's Court? Hire a lawyer and take it to a REAL COURT. Who sues for only $10 K's when you're supposed to be paid over a 100 k for a job?? In the music business???

I think she ABSOLUTELY colluded or just committed the fraud herself. I also think the jewlery was real. I think she lied once she figured out where the judge was going. I don't know if the judge heard, but the contract was sent from HER SON'S e-mail. WHY would some random person do that??? The ONLY ones who benefit from that fraud is the defendant and her son. What the plaintiff needs to do is get proof, via subpoena who arranged for, and received funds from Spotify & iTunes, etc.
