I have a Yeti and a Shaper. Shaper is generally the go-to for most of my needs for smaller items but the Yeti is fantastic for the big set it and forget it projects. I love that I can stash it away when not in use. Having a full sized CNC without losing the space is a garage saver.

Looks like an extremely accurate CNC, but much slower than built by hand with a track saw and a router (and an accurate measuring stick...). Great for lots of repetitive parts, like the corbels or if you wanted to do production runs for cabinets.
@NeilBlanchard
@NeilBlanchard 6 ай бұрын
Very interesting take on a CNC - I have just ordered a more conventional machine, that is 32" x 48". A key feature it has is closed loop stepper motors, which act as error-checkers - if they sense that a step has been skipped, they stop the machine. So you don't continue a bad cut, and you can then restart it at that point. Does the Yeti have this feature? Or, does it avoid the need for this with its spindle load sensing, maybe? The other thing about the machine I bought (it has shipped, but I don't have it yet), is it can cut as quickly as 400 inches per minute; which is bloody quick! On the cabinet boxes you cut in this video, what is the kerf for the edges of the panels? I am going to be cutting the panels on a table saw for smaller kerf, and then using clamping jigs to hold them during cutting.

I hate being negative but everyone talks about CNC machines saving so much time & I can see that if you're making a production run of in this case cabinets or parts but in one off deals I'm thinking you would have more time programming the computer then if you were just make the cabinet the old school way. Nobody ever says how long it takes to get the program ready to start making chips

I almost bought one of those BECAUSE of the portability. But when it's all said and done, out the door price with the right features, so you aren't lacking... The dollar amount totals more than a full steel import machine, larger spindle (ATC upgradable) with vacuum table. But I really, really love the idea of being a mobile 4x8 capable router. I'm not counting it out, and I just might pull the trigger, if I'm needing to spend money before the end of the fiscal tax year.

You guys are always entertaining together. How much time would you say that thing saved you over doing it by hand, if it did save you any time? Since it is a router, any straight cuts are going to be much slower than using a table saw and drilling a hole, plus you have to set up all the software, etc.
@donavanshomes
@donavanshomes 6 ай бұрын
There is definitely time savings doing it this way. I can design a complete custom kitchen in about 15 minutes with Mozaik with complete parts list to be cut by hand or on the CNC. As far as cutting to parts out with all of the holes for shelves and drawers plus the half blind dados I use no one and do all of the joinery as quickly and as accurately as the CNC. I can now do the same work in a fraction of the time.
