Hi, got one of this back in the 80's paid 125.00 dollers for it. It look brand new when I saw it. Holster was like new came with cleaning rod and two 12rd mags. They are stiff I must have thousands & thousands of rds through this gun . Never ever a failure of any kind with this gun. Can't say that about GLOCK!!!! Thanks Ham&egger

Some points to add to your very good video. @3:45 The hammer is blocked from being able to hit the firing pin until the trigger is pulled. The lower the hammer SAFER, hold the hammer with your thumb or free hand, pull the trigger to release the hammer, then RELEASE the trigger as you start to lower the hammer. The hammer block will re-engage and prevent a discharge should you drop the hammer for some reason. Not the safest operation, but for many generations that was the only way to de-cock a semi-auto pistol. @10:33, the leather on the old military surplus holsters will shrink over time. Get some leather conditioner and work it into the holster and it should loosen up. @11:34 The recoil spring on many of the surplus CZ-82's are worn out. They use a 16# spring. These can be purchased from several part suppliers for springs. Wolffe Springs is one I have used. With a worn spring, the pistol is much more 'snappy' than it should be and will hurt your hand after awhile due to recoil forcing the grip back into the web between index finger and thumb. Further, the pistol will eject brass 30 feet away. Most people who have this pistol and complain about the recoil are having that experience because of the recoil spring being very worn. Get a new spring and it is really a lot more comfortable to shoot. @11:40 Another neat safety feature on the pistol is that IF you reassemble the gun and forget to lock the trigger guard back up into position, you CANNOT insert a magazine as it will be blocked within the mag well. Push the trigger guard up and lock it, and then you can insert the mag. Lastly, the grips on the CZ-82 will crack if you overtighten the grip screws. The grips for the CZ-82 are no longer available from CZ USA. However, the CZ-83 is a nearly identical pistol and the grips are identical EXTERNALLY. The CZ-83 grip panels are a thicker plastic and to fit them onto the CZ-82 there are two places that will need some of that plastic removed in order for the panel to fit flush. Once you have done this you cannot tell the difference between the old and new grips. Awesome video. Good quality recording and resolution. Very professional in appearance and sound. Keep it up.

I like mine a lot -- couple of notes to help new owners. Buy and use a magazine loader. The magazine will hold 12 rounds, but the spring is STRONG. This pistol is really finicky about magazines. NOTHING BUT MALFUNCTIONS with the pair it came with, so I bought six of the best quality mags I could find on the Internet and tested them ruthlessly. I need to depend on this pistol, so ONE malfunction meant the magazine went into the trash. I now have THREE with 100% reliability. Also, I polished the feed ramp with my Dremel Tool -- the pistol works perfectly now. Oh, and it fits in Makarov holsters. I carry mine inside the waistband in one. It's small, sturdy, unreasonably accurate, and equivalent in power to a .38 Special, with a baker's dozen shots before it runs dry. I practice with it. I like it. perfect CCW for me.

I picked 1 of these up online several months ago for about $250 bucks. The finish was ruff, a little worse than yours, but it was a tack driver! Absolutely love the fit and feel of the CZ on my hand. I just had a friend cerakote it flat black, and now she's looking brand new again, however the tolerances are so tight on this model, I actually had to buff the cerakote down in a few areas to make things fit back properly! And BTW, if anyone out there gets the bright idea to completely disassemble 1 of these, do your research... it's a BEAR to put back together... there's a few good vids on KZfaq you can use for a tutorial, it saved my ass!!! But Overall, it's back together and shooting great! LOVE my 82!

Yes I bought one from gunbroker and the hammer kept following home. I watched those videos and the leolani takedown tutorial to disassemble it. The guy seller cerakoted it gray and while reassembling didn't know he missed the sear spring. Lets say the seller could've learned a thing or two from those videos.

12 rounds of the CZ82 vs 8 rounds of the Makarov make the choice obvious. Not to mention the Makarov safety goes against modern safeties.

Wrap the gun in saran wrap. Wet the holster good with hot water and force the wrapped gun into it until it fits. Set them aside and let the holster air dry. The leather will form fit to the gun much faster that just using it.

It is easy to safely decock because it has a hammer block mechanism. Place left thumb between hammer and back of gun, squeeze trigger while easing forward hammer with right thumb until hammer rests on left thumb. Release trigger which will put hammer block back in place. Remove left thumb and then ease hammer forward the rest of the way. This gun will not fire if trigger is not pulled all the way back which moves hammer block out of the way and allows hammer to strike firing pin!

Try replacing the spring
@jshicke2 жыл бұрын
I know this is two years old, but castle31 is correct. The main spring on many of these surplus pistols needs to be replaced. Wolffe springs has them in 14, 16, and 18# strengths. First time I fired mine, I thought the hammer had bit me. It hadn't. The recoil was slamming the grip into the web of my hand so hard it just felt like it. Put a new 16# spring on it and it will be fine, AND you will stop ejecting all your empty cases onto the other side of the shooting range. Also, CZ-83 grip panels are almost identical. They look the same externally, but some of the plastic will need to be removed to make them fit flush. Once you do that, you cannot tell the difference between them and the CZ-83 panels are going to last longer because they are thicker and not 30-40 years old :-)

Tokarev. The cz82 is snappy
@timkc16382 жыл бұрын
The tokarev is snappy ? Lol first of all I love both of them. They are two totally different types of rounds. You’re not really comparing an apple to apple here. I love the tokarev it’s one of the best handguns but I also love the CZ 82 in 9x18 Mak. 7.62 x 25 tokarev is hard to compare to 9x18 Makarov. The Tokarev rounds destroys the Makarov in velocity and penetration. They’re not really meant for the same application.
@jshicke2 жыл бұрын
CZ-82 has more recoil than the Tok does. The Tok has a more modern recoil system. The CZ-82 is a blow back design and the only recoil mitigation is that big spring over the barrel, the heavy slide, and your hand. Not saying the CZ-82 is bad. I even carry mine, but the Tok is much more controllable and the round is screaming fast compared to 9mm Mak.

So.. this is not CZ-82, such thing does not exist and only stupid importers call this gun with that name. It is ČZ pistole vzor 82 = pi. vz. 82. = pistol model 82 Carrying this cocked with safety is not a good idea, because that safety does not hold on place securely and is only meant to be used when you put that gun down on shooting range or so. It was designed to be carried with loaded chamber and hammer resting on block for first DA round. That holster is police holster btw. These guns are still used by czech army and were used also by czechoslovak police. Some slovak police units still use them. Magazine release operated by index finger ensures, that soldier does not touch trigger. Slide release is not slide release but rather slide catch. It is there for manually locking slide. To release slide after loading new magazine soldier is supposed to simply rack the slide back. No decocker is needed. When you lower the hammer half the way, you remove finger from trigger and let hammer go down. It rests on block that is blocking hammer unless trigger is fully pressed.
