My character is a ranger who's father was a warlock, and eventually subclasses into a necromancer warlock. This is the PERFECT ranger type for her, and I can't wait to fix this in her next iteration.

Eladrin Horizon Walker seems like a sweet concept.

I have this concept of someone who went through Horizon Walker training, and used it to cross between the Prime Material and the Feywild in order to grow more bountiful turnips.

as a ranger that shunts between worlds and planes i found it kinda dissapointing that they wouldnt have blink as an expanded spell (at least in the UA) it seems to fit sooo perfectly and its one of my favorite spells

one player i played with was allowed by the dm to flavor their H.W ranger by not actually turning ethereal, but instead making his arrows and his weapons temporarily ethereal so that he could shoot through blocks such as walls, shields, and even armor but depending o n what he's trying to shoot through he has to make a wisdom check (dc raises on items closer to the target such a shields and armor). as an example, if theres a man with a shield and heavy armor he can roll to hit like normal and if he rolls something such as a 13, higher than the persons natural armor class but lower than the armor class with their shield and armor then he can use one of his Ethereal Charges, rolling a wisdom check to see if he can time the Etherealness perfectly to shoot through the armor but still hit the man. if he fails, he just hits the armor and no damage is taken like a miss. if he succeeds, he does damage as if he hit. tldr: homebrewed horizon walker can shoot through armor as a flavor instead of walking through walls for 30 feet.

Take a drink every time he says "flavourful"

I personally liked the 3.5e teleportation mechanic of once per 1d4 rounds, but that was given to a druid subclass.

I love Horizon Walker. Such a nice addition for Ranger. It's so much fun. We changed Etheral step to add more flavour. I can end up being in several different dimesions when I use it and get small advantages and disadvantages depending where I pass through. Nothing super OP or super dangerous but Its really fun.

I do like some of the ranger subclasses, in particular the Gloom stalker. But I'm quite annoyed that The Beastmaster hasn't been revised. One of the things that I like best about the ranger was having an animal companion who wasn't going to die if a goblin archer got lucky... In my experience The Beastmaster is very under-powered.

Horizon Walker + Seeker Warlock sounds like an awesome combination for an adventuring travelling scholar

Ohhhh YASS! This is exactly what I have been hoping for.

I plan to pair this ranger conclave with an eladrin. I love the idea of a ranger that can teleport.

Took my horizon walker to hell in Decent into Avernus, since horizon walker is all about protecting the material plane from other planes. Then I found out Ethereal Step, my entire level 7 feature, doesn't work in hell. RIP.

Wait, when did the change resistance? Ive played for years and its always stacked

If I am a horizon walker and I cast haste on my self how many times can I do distant strike? Because when you cast haste and you have extra attack you get four attacks, so does that mean I can use distant attack four times?

Does resistance stack with halving a spells damage on a success, I.E. Tiefling succeeding on a save against a fire ball let's say the damage was 20 does that mean half from success so 10, then half fire resistance 5 damage

We gonna get Wildshape Ranger at some point? Like take off spell casting and give it Moon Druidesque wild shape. Maybe at 4/5 to 1 instead of 3 to 1 CR Beasts. Not every game allows multiclassing now that it's optional and even with it you'll still only get CR 1. Maybe throw the naturalist over martial ranger builds a bone. Thanks for putting Misty Step on the list even though I'd rather see it X times per long rest with X being Wisdom mod.

People be wanting to put the eladrin into this build. I mean...yeah go for it...but by level 5 you'll be able to do the same thing, you'll just not be using a spell slot to do it. Which is fine...just within the other few elf races, you'd be getting a super good hiding ability, any wizard cantrip, or a bunch of other magic options than just one spell. That extra SS can be a lifesaver though, so who am I to judge. I just like extra action options

I personally would ban this subclass in a Planescape game if it tells you any additional information about the portal. Finding the portal to exactly where you need to go and the key to using it is a constant adventure hook in Sigil.

Sigh. I just want a few subclasses that don't use magic. Is a ranger that doesn't use magic such a burden to ask for? I mean, throw on some of the monster hunter manuevers, some system for making nature checks to gain advantage against foes, call it a day. The archetypal rangers are Legolas and Aragorn, where's the subclass for building THEM? But, I kind of have to accept that I'm mostly alone when I ask for LESS magic.

Still don't udnerstand how the Horizon Walker was the one that made it through...well at least it's not the Monster Hunter....

This sounds like the least ranger ranger ever... Like in what way is this a ranger? If anything I'd make this like an any class subclass. Anyone can go be a horizon walker by studying portals.

Until they make the Animal Companion a useful option, I have no interest in Rangers.
