Alright, welcome to our video: "Toshiba Satellite Ram Upgrade -- C855D 8GB Memory Upgrade". We hope that this video review will help in finding out whether or not upgrading your Toshiba Satellite Laptop with 8GB of Ram is the right choice for you.
I've been using my Toshiba Satellite laptop for a little over a year now. It has been extremely reliable. For the most part, I've been using it to do website related work. Part of that is also the video editing and producing. As you probably know, working with larger video files takes up a lot of resources, especially a computer's internal memory. My Toshiba Satellite C855D came equipped with a total of 4GB of Ram. The problem with that was, whenever I was processing a video file, all the resources got allocated to this task and I was not able to use my laptop until the task was finished. That's when I decided to treat myself for a Toshiba Satellite Ram Upgrade. I went with the 8 GB module to get to a total of 12 GB.
The installation of the 8GB memory upgrade for my Toshiba Satellite laptop was very easy. I just flipped the laptop over to get access to the underside. There was on one screw that I had to remove. The Toshiba Satellite C855D come with two Ram sockets, so I was able to install my 8 GB Ram module in the second and spare socket. The whole process took me a couple of minutes only.
I then started several applications in parallel, such as Camtasia and MS-Word. I could immediately notice the difference. To be clear, it's not that my laptop is any faster now. However, I am now able to do work on a an application while in the background a larger video file is being processed. That's a huge difference and tremendous time saver. Clearly, my Toshiba Satellite Ram increase was well worth the investment.
The price for my Toshiba ram upgrade was $80, so not super cheap but in my opinion definitely money wisely spent. And as you could see in my video review, the installation itself is super easy. I am really not a super handy person and I'm definitely not a computer geek. Yet, the installation of my Toshiba Satellite Memory Upgrade module was not a problem at all.
Alright, that's it. One last note: make sure that you don't fall for cheap memory upgrade copies. Only buy from trustworthy manufacturers.

I have a c855d-S5106 and editing shit in Sony Vegas is a piece of cake as long as I'm using AVI files. 4GBs of ram. I plan on making it 12 gigs as well, so then maybe it doesn't take 12 hours to render out a 1 minute video.

I'm far from an expert or even a techie on the subject, but this is what I have read over the years. This Toshiba is rated/suggested to have a "maximum" of 8GB Ram and prefably in two sticks of 4GB. So you have now installed a mix match and have 12GB and it seems to be working ok!! So how has it been working over the long term? Any issues's ??? Is there anyone else watching this video that can provide clear, genuine, positive and accurate information regarding this?????

I am in the same boat. I also have the Toshiba Satellite and maximum upgrade is only 8gb from 4gb. I was waiting for a price drop which I can afford now lol. I'm deciding to buy one SSD for OS/Apps and HDD for storage music, videos, etc. I found a way to how so waiting on parts to deliver and will go from there.

Hey Tony, you must learn some basic electronics first. NEVER REPLACE A COMPONENT, SPECIALLY RAM WITH THE BATTERY INSTALLED.

Hi great video my laptop is a c855d also and it came with 4gb, I would like to upgrade to 8gb but I was wondering if I can just buy a 4 and use it with the same one I had preinstalled, you see you used an 8gb and a 4 but Ive been reading that if you want to use the dual card feature then both cards should be identical pairs, how has you laptop been since the upgrade? thanks for the video

Hi there, unfortunately, I can't speak to the dual card thing. However, since the RAM upgrade, there is a noticeable increase in performance when it comes to running multiple applications in general. In my opinion and for my purposes, it was worth the investment.

Those questions about expandable Random access RAM.... the word is Random, it will randomly distribute the memory and allocate flash storage within the circuit board. dont ask silly questions just install as much memory as possible. get two 8gb sticks and valdavoogan that machine, alien it on the fastest Internet access around the world, run windows 8.1 ... virtual desktop it with redhat and free bsd ... and most importantly play graphics intensive games. and swallow back , when it over heats and dies ... cry a little like a 10 year old girl and call a good friend, hurl abuse at them, then tell them myToshiba laptop computer is dead and the wife left me, and now I cant find cheap nasty bitches anywhere, hangup the phone and then go online to buy an Asus laptop computer and repeat the process

Replace the 2GB module with a 4GB module. The max supported ram seems to be 8GB. Pull the ram cover and remove the ram and take a picture of the module with your phone of the sticker of the 4GB (the label side). Get a matching stick with the same part number and specs. I usually buy a used matching part number on ebay. If you install the free program Speccy, it will show you the ram and when you click on the Ram, it will give you more details. If you are lucky, the part number of the RAM will be in the specs.

Hello Tony. Please help me, there is something that I don´t understand, because on the web page for Toshiba says this: maximum expandability : 8,192 MB (8 Gb). and you had upgraded until 12 Gb. How is it possible? www.toshiba.co.uk/discontinued-products/satellite-c855-1tv/

Lol,😂😂😂,i see you really know nothing about your computer,you now have 12 gb installed,8 and 4 cards,mot suppose to do that,cards suppose to match,8-8,4-4, lol,computer most likely still running on 4,lol
