I don't have kids yet. But me and my fiancée have been talking about our future children for a while now. Watching this video gave me butterflies, made me giggle in glee by the thought of having such experiences with my future kids. Thank you a lot, man. This is just so sweet.

My daughter is 5. I started playing an old favorite of mine, Phantasy Star on my Switch. The Sega Ages version. I was describing to her how one way to heal yourself in the game is to buy and use burgers and colas. She thought it was hilarious that you had to eat hamburgers and drink sodas to keep yourself healthy as I've told her in real life, they're not necessarily the best things to consume. She now wants to snuggle up with me whenever I play it so she can watch along. Having these moments to experience this important game to me with my daughter is priceless. I appreciate you bringing this topic up.

I am still single and early 20's, so I don't know about raising a child, but I have a little nephew at age 8 and when he comes to visit he likes to play the Lego games I have. We played the Lego DC Villains one and it was fun because instead of just focusing on the quest like I am conditioned to do, he just wants us to chase each other and was laughing all the time. Shows how different playing a game is as a child to how I play now and I have a brother (very close and 5 years difference), but I experienced the same feeling I got when playing with my brother when we were little. These games out of my comfort zones are so fun, like I am enjoying Splatoon and Sonic Frontiers, but now I have other games for when he visits.

Gosh this is the side of gaming I love. The dads that love gaming but want to be there for their kids as much as possible

Gaming isn’t something my parents were/are into so I don’t have those moments with them but I do have those moments with my daughter

The highs: "Daddy, can you join my Minecraft world? Here's your bed. It's right next to mine! Do you like it?" The lows: "Can I have robux, please? Please can I have robux?! I want to adopt the neon mega dragon and it costs 400 robux!"

I agree 💯. As an adult gamer who been gaming since a little kid . As a kid I liked the more mature games like MK, GTA ,CoD but now I play a lot of Zelda , final fantasy, Mario and more chill games like ssbu lol 😂 I still play apex and cod and MK but not as much .

With studies on negative effects of screen time for young children, I suppose perhaps the amount of TV/game time given to them may matter more than the screen time itself. Maybe it’s about having a controlled environment for them to enjoy this medium, but ignoring the potential negatives like delayed learning, anxiety, and more shouldn’t be dismissed (not suggesting that that’s happening here). I wonder what others think about screen time and kids: important to consider, stupid, some mix? I understand well the desire to share this experience with your kids, but at what potential costs if not carefully considered?

Well this gives me some ideas for my neice in a few years!

I’m playing 2 player with my son on Mario wonder as I upgraded to switch oled and he uses joycons on controller and I use pro controller . He’s 6. It’s a good experiance , I’m training him up lol. Best way to train by trial and error.

I wish my 3 almost 4 year old daughter would cuddle up to me while I’m playing Mario next to her on the couch. I try but instead I get random toys shoved in my face… 😅 so now I just play video games when she goes to bed.. and the wife gives gore to watch tv. If I’m lucky I get 5-6 hours a week to play
