Literally killed his first wife because he was unhappy with the marriage. People reacting shocked he'd hurt Rhaenyra is like those people being shocked that Homelander is 'suddenly evil' in the 3rd season of The Boys as if they never watched an episode of that show in their lives.

Love the daemon fanboys and girls here defending him with their lives. Wether you like it or not, this is him. He has always been like that. Terrible people don't draw a line on never hurting their family. It may look like they do but when they loose control, they do harm the ones they love. Also they are crying over this "change" in his character when it has always been like this with him in the books too but when we talked about how they made aegon a rapist which was just a rumor in the books then we are wrong. The double standards of the team black is mind blowing.

The Prophecy is exactly the type of thing Daemon always wanted to know, protect and to be part of. Since the beggining of his life (and the show) he was after the thrill, the magic and the glory of being a Targaryan, but he lived in a time of relative peace and his brother Viserys was too indecisive and too peaceful. So when Rhaenyra told him about The Prophecy, it was almost as if he was robbed of his dream glory life, as if he was robbed of his real Targaryan purpose.

I've been going back n forth over n over with the confusion I feel from this scene. Obviously rhaenyra is able to forgive daemon with everything that is going on in their lives which is a lot right now and that's even an under statement. I truly understand his pain also between his brother his daughter and I'm sure this brings home laenas death to him and the child they lost together he's going through his own pain and grief which he's entitled too. But as for me personally I'm done with shipping the two I have my own personal baggage of my own to be okay with what he did and to me that is a true loss because I was in love with loving those two. But all good things must come to an end their's just happened to be sooner for me rather then later when rhaenyra dies. 😢💔

Again, it's an incestuous groomed relationship which people only seem to be ok with because of the "they're targaryens" excuse. That's moral relativism and outright luciferian in the greater context of this occult, satanic series. Nowhere else would it be acceptable, it's not even acceptable within its own fictional world. It's only so because the author said it and because of the dragons = Satan worship ("Lord of light" whose gift are the dragons).

I wonder if the show is going to make nettles and daemon a couple since they have the ability to change small things from the books. And why make things bad between daemon and rhaenyra if they didn't plan to put him in a new intimate relationship? It's just so sad he spent rhaenyras whole life wanting her, he looks happy while married to her, now this? All for someone else or should I say the need to make a plausible reason for someone else by saying he wasn't happy with rhaenyra anymore so he moved on? So many questions and no one knows until the show actually comes out. Yeah it's okay to know what the book says doesn't mean everything is gonna be in it so till then... speculation it is.

The choking scene came out of nowhere, as Daemon has never shown any signs of physical abuse towards the people he loves. On the other hand he has always been hard with his words, whether with those he loves or hates. The only exception being Rhaenyra. So the course of the argument should logically give us a Daemon who for the first time is verbally harsh with Rhaenyra, thus shocking the viewer. (by the way, in the original script there is simply mention of an argument that leads Daemon to insult Rhaenyra for being weak, a nod to the scene with Viserys in episode 1 no doubt, which would have been much more logic) But no, instead he smothers her. The biggest paradox in this scene is that he is physically violent, but not verbally. He doesn't raise his voice, says logical and realistic things in a calm way, and even seems to have tears in his eyes. There's a disconect in this scene that I can't fully grasp. There is no reason for him to be physically violent with Rhaenyra, yet he is. He has every reason to verbally rant, but doesn't. I will always argue that this fight should have been verbal, nothing more. Already because it was consistent with Daemon's personality and his way of being with the people he likes in general. It would still have shocked the viewer because we had never seen her speak in such a way to Rhaenyra specifically before. Also, it would have put the characters on a completely equal footing, like in episode 7 and 8. Not to mention that so far the series has apparently (in my opinion) often shown Rhaenyra dominating Daemon by his words. Examples of this: the confrontation at Dragonstone in episode 2, and the confrontation at the wedding in episode 5. (Ah, and who can SERIOUSLY associate the moment Daemon grabbed his face with a sign of physical abuse, or would it be a harbinger of that?! Wtf?!) She shut him up more often than he did for her, when we know that Daemon has a sharp tongue, can say things hurtful and poignant. The choking scene, really, doesn't make sense to me, and is gratuitously shocking for nothing. There is no use trying to judge this scene by Daemon's violent actions having been shown OUTSIDE the inner circle of people he loves (the people he loves the most being Viserys and Rhaenyra) because yet another time, it's not the same context. Daemon with the world is not the same as Daemon with the people he cares about. Daemon has never been physically abusive to people he loves / cares about, that's a fact, and there was no suggestion he could act any differently until then. Clever writing would have suggested it as it goes along, this is not the case. Mysaria, Laena, Viserys and Rhaenyra. Never was it suggested/shown that Daemon had been, or could be physically violent with them. Yes, the Daemyra relationship is twisted and has a toxic aspect, (that's also why we love it / on the other hand, no, there is no grooming, we have to stop with this bullshit) but physical violence does not just didn't leave. There's nothing to justify Daemon's behavior other than bad writing. Daemon is not a perfect human being, far from it. He's not even specifically a good person, like most of the characters in this series for that matter... He's an unpredictable character, who doesn't care about conventions, twisted and above all chaotic as fuck. He kills people. He is also violent in a physical way, yes, but that side of him has NEVER been enforced towards the people he loves and that was ultimately the whole point. He had his limit. Daemon is morally grey, which is how he is characterized by the author in the book, and the directors and writer of the series. I'm not saying Daemon's reaction doesn't make sense to some degree. He loses himself in his madness, preparing for war after Rhaenys announces that Viserys is dead and the Greens are coming for Rhaenyra and her children. He wants to protect Rhaenyra, her family and their legacy. However, he can't do it the way he wants with Rhaenyra who has a different point of view from his, and even considers giving up his throne to Aegon II. (Wtf Rhaenyra?!) For the first time, they are not on the same page, and I understand his frustration. I understand his anger. His brother he loved so much is dead, he is even convinced that he was killed. There we are clearly in denial... The greens have stolen / usurped Rhaenyra's birthright. They are in danger. He and Rhaenyra have just lost their baby girl. Also, Otto literally offers to give up their sons as hostages. Well yes, what do you think it means in medieval language to have places of choice in the court with the situation in which Rhaenyra and Daemon find themselves? That Rhaenyra wants peace at this point, to see her throne ceded, baffles him. Shouldn't she be angry like him? Aren't they meant to burn together? Didn't she partly marry him to fight the Greens? She reminds him of Viserys, a weak monarch who ended up crushed by others for always wanting peace, and pleasing everyone. Not to mention the aspect of the prophecy that Daemon ignored, showing that his older brother never really considered him his heir. Daemon's rage/madness at this point (remember, Rhaenyra says he gets lost in his madness early in the episode) is justified, yes. Another human being much less chaotic than Daemon might have just as easily cracked up the same way he did with all these events, and while that's not a good thing, it doesn't mean that loves Rhaenyra less. However, Daemon is not a real person, he is a fictional character, with characterization, arc, and evolution/development. In fiction rules must be respected. Nothing should come out of nowhere. Daemon has had countless times when he could have been physically abusive towards the people he loves, he never has. Even when Rhaenyra literally dared him to kill her, he didn't think for a second of hurting her. My argument being that it needed to give viewers hints that such a thing could have happened between Daemon and Rhaenyra specifically in the future, and there I would have accepted the scene. (after all, I like toxic couples much worse in terms of violence) Out, the series as it is delivered to us, never insinuates such a thing between them. On the contrary, Rhaenyra was even the person for whom Daemon had the most gentleness. As I said before, Daemon could vent his rage and frustration in other ways. We didn't have to have that choking scene. No need for that to show the toxic aspect of their relationship. It doesn't need that to show that Daemon is a morally gray character. Oh, and to all those who think and have always thought that Daemon didn't love Rhaenyra, or that there was no love between them... I could say a million other things, but really, just read this: “Daemon and Rhaenyra - they're together at the beginning of my episode. Part of the thing that we felt was important was to believe that they were in love with each other. And not just believe it, but feel the electricity. I mean, I don't know about you guys, but I am very much in love with my husband, and I still have a crush on him. And when I see him, I still get chills. And I wanted to see that, I wanted to feel that from them. Because this was a delicate fleeting moment, as you know having seen the episode. We needed to feel the realism of that. And so the two of them [Matt and Emma] had a lot of conversations - even without me - where they were building their relationship, and building the chemistry. So I was really pleased when we got to shooting their first scene together, where Rhaenyra says ‘I need to go back home’ - just the way he looked at her…I just love that.” -Geeta Patel, director of House of the Dragon [1x08] It's downright denial at this point.

@@user-zu6rd1vt3r Just because it happened doesn't mean it made sense. I'm literally short of paperwork at my college, I know what I'm saying. Even the actors did not understand this scene, that is to say. The mere fact that the directors had to go through a lot of trouble explaining its meaning is proof enough that it's stupid, out of nowhere, and doesn't work. Even if from an emotional point of view, the scene can be understood, it simply does not work from a scriptwriting and characterization point of view. Either way, Daemon isn't the only character to suffer from consistency or characterization in this show. After all, everyone has their own opinion. We can like this scene or not, it's not a problem. I find, like many (and there's a reason for that), that it doesn't make sense.
@postesurtout5904
@postesurtout5904 Жыл бұрын
@@user-zu6rd1vt3r If that's your view of things, good for you. Daemon was never that in the book. And just because Daemon killed his wife (in the show let's face it because it never happened in the book) doesn't mean he would hurt Rhaenyra. Rhea Royce and her have literally nothing to do. He had literally no connection to his wife, except on paper. Not to mention that he hated it, and that this hatred was probably mutual. Other than that murder, we've never seen Daemon engage in physically violent behavior with women in a specific way, hence the scene with Rhaenyra shocked almost everyone and made no sense. Rhea Royce, again, is not a reference point in his behavior with the female agent, since he hated/didn't care about her. To think otherwise simply shows a lack of understanding in terms of fictional character characterization. Just remember Oberyn Martell. The red prince of his generation. A bloodthirsty and cruel man with his enemies. A man who beat women and used poisons. Still, Oberyn is a man who respected the women in his life, and would never lay a hand on any of them. Oberyn was ready to die to avenge his sister's death and he did. Maintaining a loving, passionate and healthy relationship with Ellaria Sand. True to their love and happiness, they raised their daughters, fucked with men and women, doing it all together. Oberyn raised her daughters with the goal that they would be strong enough to face the world and defend themselves against its cruelty, that they could achieve their goals, their pleasures, motivating them to seek freedom and their own satisfaction. In the series, we even see him posing to write a fucking poem to one of his daughters. So fuck you with the example of Daemon being a woman abuser just because he killed one he hates, because that means literally nothing. And this is literally the first time Daemon has done something like this to Rhaenyra, all out of grief/sorrow and anger. I don't think that's enough to qualify him as a woman abuser.
@postesurtout5904
@postesurtout5904 Жыл бұрын
@@user-zu6rd1vt3r That Daemon killed his first wife, and suffocated Rhaenyra, doesn't make him a PARTICULAR woman abuser. He had no connection to Rhea Royce except on paper and hated him as a person. She could have been a man, it wouldn't have made any difference. She was his wife on paper, not emotionally. For Rhaenyra, it was literally the first time he lost control with her and it was in a time of grief/grief and anger. I'm not saying that it justifies it or that it's good, certainly not, but the gesture can be understood from an emotional point of view. That still doesn't make Daemon a woman abuser! Precisely because Rhea Royce's sex doesn't matter in the case, and it was the first time Daemon lost control with a person he loves. There is not a single moment in the series, aside from these two occurrences having taken place over 20 YEARS, where Daemon is seen to have inappropriate physical behavior with a woman. So be violent. So even on the show, saying Daemon is a woman abuser specifically doesn't work. He has objectively hurt and killed more men than women over the course of the series, and no one calls him a man abuser that I know of.

Don't idealize Daemon. It's the writers' fault that they made the line with Rhaenyra more romantic, even though Daemon and Rhaenyra's marriage was actually a political decision. Very soon he will have a new love .... He is a wild dragon.

@@joshuaadams6565 Daemon is a terrible person, but he shouldn't do this to his family, who invented this scene is a complete idiot. He has a distorted moral compass , and he has to separate people . His family is on one side and everyone else is on the other .
