I'm glad someone else made that comparison. That was the first thought I had when I first learned of Mouse a few years ago. And how much I loved that storyline in SAO, and what it could do for the future, and humanity as a whole. We get inundated with examples of all the "evils of technology" and all that shit every day. But people often forget that tech allows a lot of really wonderful things to happen as well.

Speaking of SAO, mouse's situation is very similar to Yuuki. I think Yuuki also had a camera to interact with the outside world.

We're not there yet by a long shot, but it makes me overwhelmed with joy to see Mousey be able to ride around on a camera just like Yuuki does with Asuna; it's so life-changing for her and technology can be such a miracle. I don't care how much hate SAO gets; Yuuki's arc is so good and so important, and things like this show exactly why 💖

You shouldn't. He does want to buy her one but wasn't able to find one at all, and noted that it didn't seem like there were any. Mouse turned that on him with Buff to make it look like he didn't want to, just to get Buff on her side. That was a low blow. Thankfully Buff just lightly smacked him, but still she should have tried to confirm first instead of just assuming it was true, especially knowing her addiction.

That is true but it’s not like she wants it to be this way. She may now have privacy but thanks to her autoimmune disease, she’s never met any of her friends in person. The closest she’s gotten to hugging any of her friends is in VR Chat or as an ipad on wheels.

I don't think we need to rush the implementation of Fulldive VR, but I do agree that Mouse deserves really access to it if and when it comes.

Sorry to be the one to derail this notion, but currently humans are not mentally capable of dealing with a full dive vr experience, it's going to take a significant amount of training and a certain degree of evolution to be able to take full advantage of such a system, which I doubt is going to happen for at least another century at least.

I think it'd be better to make medical advances that actually allows her to be healthy instead

Some conventions already have a sort of VR portal which connects to VRChat. People can go visit the world it's connected to in VR and interact with the people at the physical convention. It's not quite the same, but still a great thing for a lot of people!

They'll get there eventually. Bigger screen means more weight and bigger battery needed, which also means more weight, which means you need beefier motors that take more battery, and are heavier which means more weight, and eventually we've got Mouse in the Vtuber equivalent of the Killdozer. Gotta work out the kinks and get better battery tech before you upscale these things. Better off to start smaller and more easily replaced/repaired until you get the tech down.
