I purchased a Dakota Lithium 36v 60 ah battery to run my Minn Kota Ultrex 112. This is a day test and review of the batteries performance along with my experience purchasing the battery. I was very happy with the performance of the battery and have had it out on the water multiple long days now. I will update everyone if anything negative with the battery occurs.
Whenever I have a negative interaction with a fishing brand or company (customer service and shipping time with this battery, multiple negative interactions with boat dealers, and service centers) that sponsors BASS events or sponsors pros that I watch it makes me question their integrity. Supporting the companies that support bass fishing is a consumer responsibility. However, there is a responsibility to the consumers from the professional anglers and companies pushing these products as well.
Note: The battery took between 3-4 hours to charge (at 8 amps per hour) after my ten-hour fishing trip. That means at max I had used 32 of the available 60-amp hours of life of the battery.
Note: The trolling motor is only drawing (significant) amps when the motor is engaged. 4 amps per hour on power setting 3 (1.1mph), that is if the motor is on continuous (not on and off) for 1 hour it should draw 4 amps from the battery.

How many days a week do you fish? All batteries are only good for so many charge cycles.

Nice video well done and first person review for the day of fishing. I have the same battery on my Ulterra, 36v 60AH, for a Ranger 223FC (fish and cruise) tri-toon. I charged the battery beginning of summer, rough calculation of 8-10 hours of usage over 2 months (just retired, so more time next year). Small cheap voltage monitor from Amazon always shows 39.9v and never changed, same reading after coming out of storage from winter in Minnesota and less than an hour to charge. Took about 4-5 hours to recharge for this years usage. This was my first real test of this battery, which I purchased for level, consistent power, plus longevity in providing power to the the big Trolling motor, moving a large pontoon. Works well thus far, as you mentioned time will tell on how it will hold up, however good thus far. I have been looking at other company’s producing Lithium batteries, now producing ‘Starting/Deep Cycle dual purpose”. One nice feature being added is Bluetooth to the companies app, for providing the battery condition for temp, voltage and remaining power. Very nice to be in the know for recharging or just battery information. Very interesting technology. Good Luck.

Thank you! Keep me updated on how your battery is doing, I plan on doing another review on it at a year. So far it has exceeded my expectations, mine never sits for more than a couple days so it would be interesting to compare the life cycles of both. A bluetooth feature would be a nice edition!

Hope you’re still tracking this video. I enjoyed it. I question how this single battery will perform on my 20’ Xpress in bay/near offshore, with a new Garmin Force kraken motor. My boat is light, so I figure moving to a single 36v60ah from a dual Dakota 24v54ah(112ah total life) will be overkill, but also save me battery life being too powerful for my lighter boat…what do you think?

I'm not super familiar with exactly how much current you're fighting or with the Garmin force trolling motor. Dakota lithium now makes a 36v 110 ah battery though. Having more Amp hours never hurts, in my opinion. However, I have run mine in light river current and still can't kill it in a single days use. Hope this helps.

One word....YES !! Lithium is maybe one of the greatest developments in fishing in years. No longer do I need to "watch" my trolling motor usage. No more do I have to use "Spot Lock" carefully and only when needed. I run a 19' Lund with Ulterra (24v) and twin Solix 12's. I have two lithiums (100Ah) for the trolling motor, one for the graphs (100Ah), and one for my cranking (125Ah) . It frees you up to worry ZERO about energy on your boat. I LOVE these things !!!

One question I haven’t seen many videos talk about is the amp hour ratings of their old 12v batteries versus these new lithium 36v batteries. I get the whole weight savings deal but do you get a longer run time out of the single 36v battery? My way of looking at it is all about the run time. I’m not that concerned with the weight because these boats were designed intending to install all those batteries in it. It would be cool if guys would show an amp hour per dollar figure. I have a feeling the regular old 12v’s are probably on the winning side of that figure.

I can't kill my 36v 60 amp hour lithium in a day of fishing. I just did 13 hours in la Crosse Wisconsin, lots of weeds and lots of current (used about 40 amp hours). A brand new set of lead acid batteries would have struggled to do that, even though they have a much higher amp hour rating. I don't understand why that is. IF the battery lasts even half of the 11 years they say it will it's worth it. I'd go through a set of lead acid's about every year.

You can get 3-12v individual batteries and connect them to make them 36v. I purchase the single battery version because it saved me several hundred dollars over purchase of the 3 battery setup. All depends as well where you can put it, this single battery is long, where the 3 battery setup you can position them differently as long as your can connect them together. The run time would be base on how many AH of each battery added together for total AH. You can run the lithium batteries to a much lower level of capacity than lead acid that is why ‘littlerefishing’ can get so many more hours from his setup, before recharging.

@@littleredfishing 11 years!!…Holy Cow. I see why you question that number because it is unheard of for batteries to last that long. Like you said that is a definite reason to go with them. Even if you cut their number in half that would still be a nice life span. Thanks for the response.

only a year out of interstates? Isn't it a 2 year warranty on interstates?
@littleredfishing
@littleredfishing 9 ай бұрын
It's a year on most of their batteries now. It's all about the cycles a battery is rated for. Lead acid batteries are good for a little over a hundred charge cycles. I fish well over that a year.

You are wrong it’s a year on the battery you bought at academy or Costco. But if you buy the green top from interstate they are two year warranty. I’ve got almost 6 years out of mine
@littleredfishing
@littleredfishing 8 ай бұрын
@@winstonrocco1981 they have changed their warranty on most of the batteries, I spoke with a rep from a sales store when mine started going out. They are fine batteries for a weekend angler but will not hold up for years while fishing 4+ days a week.
