The famous "Dallas" theme that opens this episode is beautifully orchestrated, I just love it. It shows us how "Dallas" was at its peak at that time, and that the whole world was talking about the show.

Well, if by the whole world you mean the part that wasn't in the Soviet Zone. Not only did I ever get to see Dallas more than a decade after it started, by the time the rights to Knots Landing were bought, the airing of Dallas has ended, so I'm genuinely seeing this for the first time.

@@akosbarati2239 I do recall Gorbachev saying recently the fall of communism and the U.S.S.R. is in part because of the popularity of Dallas which was shown in Russia because some people got past the blockers that stopped non-authorized programming to air in Russia but the way the Ewings lived got to Russians apparently that there was another way to live and that was capitalism with all it glitz and glamour and that is why Gorbachev believes the show Dallas led to the collapse of communism and the U.S.S.R. ttps://deadline.com/2020/10/mikhail-gorbachev-dallas-soviet-union-collapse-david-stewart-1234604449/

I never understood why they always overlooked visiting Lucy every time Gary & Val came thru Dallas. Lucy was their love child. The writers never really treated Lucy like she was an important part of their lives and that infuriated me. She was their first born for God’s sakes.

There was a scene in this episode where Abby runs into Val in the lobby of the hotel in Dallas. The intercom says there's a call for Mrs. Ewing and Abby and Val both go to get it and run into each other. Abby hadn't married Gary yet, but she was staying his suite.
@caseyl3789

The first scene with Abby driving up in a taxi, that is not even a hotel. It is a luxury high rise condo building in Dallas on Northwest Hwy, near Preston Road. It's called Preston Towers. I live in Dallas, and it's always so much fun to see actual film locations in Dallas, on Dallas and in this case, KL. It's still there but looks quite dated now. The downtown Dallas looks quite dated as well, many more buildings now. I think this was filmed in 1982. And why was Abby in a taxi, and not a limo? lol....I figured a taxi would be beneath her.

Some fans of Dallas, said that when it ended in 1991, it should have been JR finding out, that he was Digger's son and Cliff was his half brother. However, what if it was, that Gary was Digger's son instead and that's why Jock resented him and never verbally mentioned this to Ellie. Possibly JR had his suspicions , that's why he drove Gary away. Imagine if that was the case and Cliff Barnes crossed over to Knots Landing and vice versa. That would have made an intriguing crossover plot. Lucy finding out she's Digger's Grand daughter instead of Jock.

Gary shouldn't be upset that he was only given a Percentage. He never worked at Ewing Oil nor did he contribute to the success of Southfork like Ray Krebbs did. Some Families wouldn't have left Gary Two Of Nothing. Even if Jock didn't take care of him, Miss Ellie may have. I had no idea that Michael Sabatino was on Knots Landing. He like a lot of Soap Stars appeared on Dallas. He also holds the distinction of appearing on Soaps on All Three Networks. NBC (Days Of Our Lives), ABC (All My Children) CBS (The Bold & The Beautiful) and he and his Wife Crystal Chappel created Open Book Productions that did a series of Successful Webseries most notably Venice.
@laminage
@laminage 4 жыл бұрын
@Anthony Thompson It was more out of guilt than love. As for Lucy not working at Ewing Oil, The Women were never encouraged to work there. Jock Ewing was very sexist and territorial when it came to The Business. Remember how he wailed on JR after Leslie Stewart ruined The Deal with The Cartel and he said "A Woman's Place Is In The Bedroom, Not The Boardroom!"

Agreed. Gary was lucky to receive anything from Jock. His behavior didn’t entitle him to any part of Jock’s fortune. Instead, Jock leaves him the same in total assets that Ray received. As you noted, Ray had worked on Southfork since he was a kid and was the ranch’s foreman when Jock passed. It’s always overlooked that Gary (and Ray) received 10% ownership of Ewing Oil. That’s where the true fortune lied, with the value of Gary’s share being 20 times the total of his trust fund. I wonder if Jock put conditions on Gary’s share of Ewing Oil. He would be due 10% of the company’s profits and could have sold his share of the company for $200 million if he was somehow in need of money.
