So perfect how JR ends this clip. He is told to get out and yet he manages to turn this to his own favour and insult his brother.

I always thought JR wanted Gary and to a lesser extent Ray to compete with him. It was his way of interacting.

I agree. He liked competition but he loved to be able to play dirty. I think that life would've been boring af for JR if he didn't have Bobby to compete with.

JR and Bobby knew they were an unstoppable team if they were on the same page. JR just wanted Bobby to play dirty sometimes, and Bobby wanted JR to be more fair. In the end, they always had each other’s backs when it mattered

This is like me and my brother who's the oldest, he's always tried to stick it to me, and my middle brother was always the one who protected me from the "evil big brother" but about 10 years ago, I saw my oldest brothers true colors, where he took the rap for me to keep me out of trouble, when he sat me down and told me, he wasn't always the best brother he could have been to me, but told me that the things he did was to protect me, and that Xander was always thinking he was out to get me, after all those years I realized that Mark never wanted my demise or to ever harm me, but he was protecting me, albeit the way he went about it was not always ethical. Since then me and Mark have been very close, and I thank him for making me become the person I am today. Had it not been for been for him, people would have walked all over me, sometimes good intentions are masked with bad actions, and we don't see the good intentions. For years growing up I hated Mark, I never wanted him to be part of my life, I did everything I could to be successful and to show him that i would be better than him, but now Mark is part of my life he my confidant, I owe him all my success in life, and I love him very much, funny it took years to realize that, but everything he did was for me and my best interest and protection. I love ya Brother. Always will.

@@jasonraczkowski6001While there may be an element of that, JR also did it for sex with Abby, the chance of causing trouble in Gary and Valene’s relationship, the chance of getting his hands on Sid’s engine and to make sure Gary stayed on California and out of Dallas.

@@donnn-sg4mk No. JR considers Gary above Ray in Five Dollars A Barrel and also just before the reveal that James is JR’s son. He considers Gary to be a Ewing and Ray to be a half-breed. JR even tells Gary that he is starting to act like a Ewing and that he is proud of him in Knots Landing: Community Spirit. Plus JR admits to Abby that Gary is a danger to him.
