Damon became her always. If it were always Stefan, she wouldn't have said, "I can't think about always." She knew Damon was facing Alaric. Had she told Damon she would've chosen him, he wouldn't have fought back. He would've laid there and died happily knowing she chose him. She wanted him to come home. In 4x6, Stefan tells her he can't do it anymore. He's been the second-string quarterback for too long lol.

I Hate Elena so much in this scene. Her decision to choose Stefan was completely biased because she thought everyone she cared about was dying back in Mystic Falls. She was just using Stefan as her excuse if you ask me.

stelena were always better fans begged for delena coz ian and nina were dating irl, and you could tell it was unplanned. first 3 seasons are amazing. 9/10 the next 3 seasons = 6/10 at best. and people only care about looks, that's why they like damon in this world, you cant make the mistake of choosing looks over personalty. ian and nina broke up in 2013. it didn't matter to them how each other looked. there are more important things than looks, and delena fans need to realise that
