This was the era, man. ABs v Wallabies was unmissable theatre, a divine sporting contest. I shudder to realise that 20 years have suddenly gone by since then. How??

+Jackolantern Gaming can you imagine what sport would turn in to if everyone played by those morals... Need to have some ethics in the game for there to be any respect between fans, players and in between the two. NZ are the best rugby team in the world but you have to call their culture in to question with some of the stuff the team members and fans do.

@izzyvulaca in reality its totally the other way round - tripping is usually only a free kick in football - in union its at least a yellow and usually a red - all that saved carter was his reputation and possibly the colour of the shirt on his back
@joedennehy3862 жыл бұрын
And the fact that the ball wasn't in play and gregan milked it
@ninjahstef5 жыл бұрын
The reason why it wasn't a yellow is because the referee isn't an arrogant power tripper and I give him props for not over reacting like most referees do these day's.
@jackflashskitchen67822 жыл бұрын
That’s ridiculous. Fair play is fair play.. something like that could prevent you from scoring a try. Ruining the game like that out of bad intention defeats the purpose of the game.. which is to win without any unfair advantage.
@mjribes4 жыл бұрын
I'm flabbergasted that Carter was penalised. He was usually allowed to do as he pleased and protected by the refs. Him and McCheat too.

pretty sure thats a mandated yellow card. The most amazing stat i can think of in world sport is that no all black has been sent off since colin meads. Not the guys who tried to rearrange jpr or phil de glanvilles features with their boots. Not jamie joseph when he tried to break someones leg. Not buck shelford when he punched huw davies from behind in front of the ref. Not the two goons who dumped BOD on his head. Nor andrew hore who straightarmed bradley davies in the neck from behind. These are only the ones against NH opposition, god knows what they have got away with against SH opposition.
@normanno85149 жыл бұрын
***** im not sure how much more serious you can get than stamping on someones face or dropping them on their head or straightarming someone in the neck from behind - maybe you could enlighten me to as an offence that you consider to be worthy of a red card

I'm mostly concerned with the ones Joubert deliberately didn't pick on. For the sake of his own physical integrity and comfort for the next few years, I presume, knowing all too well how kiwi fans can behave... It's one thing to make an error, but a totally different one to deliberately refuse to make a call. You too have definitely sensed that his judgement was biased that evening, as well. Thanks anyway for that contribution.

@Cedericoco You mean that in 2007 the All Blacks weren't on the receiving end of some bad calls, even though they were the clear reason that we were knocked out aka the forward pass that lead to the try the sealed the win for the French? The French should have won this game, they didn't take there opportunities well enough which is there own fault.
@angstBali8 жыл бұрын
That's a yellow card - it's very simple. It's a nothing yellow card because it was stupid and unnecessary but it's a yellow card nonetheless. Anyone who thinks otherwise should read the rule book (which contains the laws, there's no such thing as a law book in common parlance...)
