I have 2x RAM 3500's and I just ordered a new F-450. Maybe I need to keep all 3 so I always have something that runs. CP4 needs additional aftermarket filtration and fuel lubricates. On of my RAMs I use a FASS fuel filter system with CAT filters. Works great! You are going to have this problem again. Also look at the S&S 6.7 Disaster Prevention Kit bypass. Keeps the metal fragments from passing through the fuel system after the CP4 blows up!!!!

The first thing you said was about the cheap Banff fuel you just put in it. Run quality fuel or good additives, change fuel filter every 10k-15k max, drain your water separator every month and you won’t have a problem with the ford CP4. Has to do with the different fuel system design (even though same pump) vs dodge and gm. Not near as many problems vs the others and this is why ford hasn’t recalled them.
@lucasholmes64102 жыл бұрын

The cp4 is in dodge and gm trucks also. And ford has far less problems than the other two. And boy your luck they covered it under warranty. You need a s&s disaster prevention kit to protected the injectors and fuel rails so it’s only the cp4 that needs to be replaced.
@Itsa_Mea2 жыл бұрын
RAM only used the CP4 in 2019 & 2020. They are now in the process of replacing them under a recall for free with a version of the faithful CP3. Ford is doing nothing about their trucks from 2011-present that use that poorly designed CP4 pump. Bad news for any Ford.owner out of warranty.
@insaneTrout2 жыл бұрын
I mean unless you got a 2021 cummins getting a ram would be pointless as it has the cp4 for 19 and 20 models. Then they went back to the cp3 for 21+ you should have gotten the kit that keeps you from having to rebuild the entire fuel system. It puts a metal screen in line after the cp4 to keep any shrapnel from making it to any where else. If you were smart you'd have the shop put it in while they are doing the work. And if it's already finished and already back on the road you should really order and have it put in. No sense in gambling with that much down time again.

advice, never run low on fuel, never bellow 1/4 because low diesel level cause pump heating up since there's little ammount of fuel in the tank to dissipate the heat of the returning fuel. for increase diesel lubricity 0.2% of 2 stroke marine oil (marine one because didnt create ash, since ash damage DPF) its perfect, add 0.2% of acetone for keep fuel cleaner and increase cetane number (since oil reduce a little bit the diesel cetane)

CP4 again!! Hey "install the bag the metal" mod for $400 Since its debut in 2016, the original S&S 6.7L Power Stroke CP4 Bypass Kit (Disaster Prevention Kit) has safeguarded thousands of injectors from CP4 debris. In fact, it works so well that it has been copied by multiple opportunists within the aftermarket.
@timdehoogh84417 ай бұрын
if you have a low fuel in diesel that is trouble for the pump which means you have to fuel back up prime the pump and hopefully it will work. maybe next time bring additional jugs of fuel or have a transfer tank that you can have it gravity feed into the main tank that you could switch on. thats why Class 8 trucks have dual tanks might want to consider one suggestion.

There is SO much that is put into these new diesel trucks. More power means more maintenance. The main reason these new trucks have so much fuel pressure is to reduce noise. Each injector fires 8 times from BDC to TDC and that takes ALOT of fuel pressure.
@kaydenchristensen5011 Жыл бұрын
Hi, I’m kind of a new guy in the diesel world, and I know the new trucks are getting much quieter and they can tow insane amounts. But could you explain how the increase in pressure and more injector firing decrease the noise?
@JamesDavis-jo9tk Жыл бұрын
@@kaydenchristensen5011 well I guess the easiest way to try to explain it is this…rather than having one massive ignition at near TDC you have several stages of fuel delivery prior to TDC that adds to chamber pressure as the piston moves up and as a bi-product you get noise reduction.

Also for the weight you pull only towing 100KH If you ever go RAM 5500 go with the 4.88 gear. that's what we use. Its a beast.

Better do everything…. Rails, both sensors, fuel lines, fuel supply lines, fuel filter housing, injectors, and fuel tank. Once it sh*ts the bed one time you will always have issues unless everything the fuel system that it uses or is connected to is replaced. I know a company that has had their 2 duramax’s in total of 6 times in less than 4 months totaling close to 70k in fuel repairs for 2 CP4’s a piece as well and entire fuel system R&R but no tanks… but every time either truck went in the sensors were replaced first and not correctly fixed which is gut the entire fuel system and start all new. Everyone says you can flush a tank out…. You can’t get it all.. that is the source and start of failure. Cut the filter part you will most likely find fines on both sides of the paper

You might want to get a air dog lift pump. If you don't have one.
@andyradlgruber53152 жыл бұрын
Did it fail because of the DEF that you had in the tank? I recall you tried something to "fix" it after that and thought it worked. I bought a used 2020 late last year from a dealership that I swear knew it once had DEF in the tank, and they tried to resolve it without replacing everything. When they sold it to me they pushed hard for the extended warranty, knowing what was likely coming my way, but never told me. No record of it either in their warranty or service history, well played Ford. Anyway, long story short, when it did fail I was able to claim it through insurance. Ford found crystals on the pressure regulator and knew right away what the problem was. Could have been vandalism, or just a mistake. Either way insurance paid the bill, thank god.

They're still paying out for expensive lawsuits from the 6.0/6.4 failures. The trial against Ford included gobs of internal emails showing they knew of those engines' problems and continued replacing parts with known bad parts. Now they're screwing people with the CP4. I don't care how good or comfortable the ride is, fuck Ford. There are much better options.
@REEFTANKGENIUS2 жыл бұрын
I think a class action lawsuit is in order. Planned obsolescence should be illegal. They do it on purpose.

Did you use fuel additive to increase lubricity and seatain

2 stroke marine oil increase diesel lubricity, also never ever run the engine with low fuel level, i never sentiamo bellow 1/4 of diesel tank for this reason, one every 2 tank of fuel i had some bardhal top fuel

3:50 Yup. Look into S&S Disaster prevention kit. If you have a Ford 6.7 out of warranty you're crazy not to have their kit installed.
@DangerIndustries2 жыл бұрын
Will certainly look into it more. if it works 15% of the time, its worth the effort
@Itsa_Mea2 жыл бұрын
@@DangerIndustries I don't know where you're getting 15% of the time thing, but you should watch their latest youtube video where they purposely made a pump fail. The system they offer caught ALL of the metal so all they needed was a new CP4 pump saving atleast $10k (American $). You cannot stop those junk CP4s from failing but you can drastically lower the repair costs when it does by using their filter return kit.
