Good looking fixed sites. Aren't those meant to face the opposite direction?
@2phast9 жыл бұрын
SneekySnakeOO Yes, in all the DD lit, they are opposite of the way I have them. I mounted these both ways and didn't really see any disadvantage except for some cosmetic issues. I cut out the overly long sections of the video where I swapped them back and forth. Should of mentioned that in the video.
@KLAYCO479 жыл бұрын
Ah i see, I dont see reason why they can be mounted either way. Great videos btw.
@2phast8 жыл бұрын
+Tucker Dale Yep, that is true and if mounted backwards, to lower/raise, you would be turning the opposite direction as well.
@kiltedarcher5748 жыл бұрын
yeah, I thought the same thing. the rear is essentially the carry handle sight without the handle.

2phast Tactical No. Up or down is up or down,unless you think you will mount your sight on the bottom of the barrel.

I put the Streamlight TLR-7 in front and protected by the DD front sight. Works great in conjunction with an MRO 1/3 (more like a 1/4) co-witness.

Just got a 300blk in a 7.5in barrel in 1:8 twist for a house/truck pistol. Looking forward to range time

Thank you for the review, Im so purchasing these sights for my AR pistol build. In my opinion its better to spend a lil bit more money on quality parts.

Use the same rear on my AR and the ser on my M&P 15-22. Excellent sights. I wont use anything else.

Great review! I run the same light at 12:00 on my AR, too, so I have been mulling over picking up those sights.

Mine stripped threads. Had to pack it with JB Weld to fix the threads.

I just ordered these today, for my first AR build I just got done with. Excited about getting them and taking it out to see the fuctionality of my first AR build. then i will decide what optic to go with Aimpoint, Vortex, or Trijicon anyone have any suggestions or favorite red dots they like to use?

What do you end up doing for optic?

Nice sights, but I went with the Sig flip up backup sights with the Aimpoint CompM4S mounted on my DDM4V11. These same Sig sights are included on my Sig 516/716.

Not sure if I want these sights for my AR pistol or folding sights. I will be adding an optic, a trijicon mro. I leaning towards the DD sights though. Anyone have any ideas...????
@2phast5 жыл бұрын
The DD sights are solid, well built and a good value for the money. If you can live with them being a fixed sight and always in your line of sight, they are a excellent choice. My preference is for folding sights that when flipped up, lock into place and don't move till you release the locking bar (Troy). All of my rifles use Troy sights now. Thats just my personal preference.

@@2phast TROY sights SUCK..they have too much wobble when raised--I sent mine back for a refund.
@the2Atreeclimber4 жыл бұрын
Just make sure you get a 1/3 cowitness mount for that mro and these sites will be the best you can get
@stacysid24 жыл бұрын
nice review. I ordered a set for my DDM4V7LW. Are you using loctite or no?
@2phast4 жыл бұрын
Many products on the market already come with a thread locker on the bolts but if you are going to add thread locker, I recommend using only Blue Loctite. Red Loctite is permanent and requires heating to remove, not suitable for firearms IMO
@stacysid24 жыл бұрын
@@2phast thank you
@notchagrandpa88753 жыл бұрын
If you're using Daniel Defense sights according to information on their website you don't need to use loctite, because they use a threaded steel helicoil rather than just threading the aluminum body of the sight. Just make sure to properly torque the screws to around 30 in/lbs, to much torque can damage the helicoil, to little can allow the screw to back off.

my cowitness is low in my md ads on AD absolute mount with a f marked front and mbuis pro because the mbuis prois .09 too low

What advantage do you get from mounting the front sight in reverse?
@2phast Жыл бұрын
Absolutely none.
@a69ninja Жыл бұрын
The rear of the front sight looks stepped to avoid glaring to better aquire your front sight picture. Why mount it in reverse? Why did you mount the rear sight in reverse as well? Wouldn't that mess up any windage correction on the fly if you were looking at your splashes and comparing them to the turn direction indicated on the rear sight?
@blainecolbry3192 Жыл бұрын
@@a69ninja Correct, he has both mounted bass akwards, 180 degrees off.

I’m wanting to purchase just the rear sight I already have a fixed standard front sight post. Will this sight work just fine with that?
@2phast6 жыл бұрын
It will if you have a F marked A2 front sight

Would the rear sight work well with a standard fixed A2 front sight?

@dsbiddle6 жыл бұрын
For 1/3 cowitness, do you need iron sights designes fir that? Or is that an adjustment made with supports for the optic? Or both?
@2phast6 жыл бұрын
For 1/3rd cowitness, it would require a specific height riser for your optic. That would allow you to use your irons in the bottom 1/3rd of your optic. Absolute cowitness would use a slightly shorter optic riser, that would put the dot from your optic right on the tip of your front iron sight.
@dsbiddle6 жыл бұрын
2phast Tactical I appreciate that - thank you!

Medium or high mount riser ?
@2phast8 жыл бұрын
+Mike Kaminski A medium red dot riser will give you absolute cowitness, a high mount riser will provide you 1/3rd cowitness.

Will Daniel Defense be making a fixed rear sight with elevation adjustments?
@CountArtha5 жыл бұрын
You can still do elevation adjustment on the front sight like standard M16 sights. There's no elevation drum on the rear sight for quick adjustments in the field, but I think that's a good thing because you won't be be tempted to keep changing your zero back and forth.
@Foxhound_J6 жыл бұрын
Anyone know if any other flip up rear sights work with the fixed front
@TurdFergusson3186 жыл бұрын
cheezyweezz I run a Troy rear flip-up sight and think it works great with the DD front. Originally tried MBUS Pro, felt it was I bit too high.
@wdpk8374 жыл бұрын
What prevents the front sight from being pulled off in the same way that you snapped it on?
@2phast4 жыл бұрын
There is a cross screw that when tightened down, clamps the sight onto the rail.
@wdpk8374 жыл бұрын
2phast Tactical That one definitely prevents it from moving forward or backward down the rail but I’m wondering about it being able to be pulled off in the reverse way that you snapped it on
@wdpk8374 жыл бұрын
Maybe mine is just machined incorrectly? I’m able to pull mine off in the way that I described, even when the screw is tightened
@2phast4 жыл бұрын
@@wdpk837 The bottom of the sight should have a type of hook design, both on the fixed portion of the sight and the movable piece. The "hook" will sit below the top of the rail, when tightened, it will clamp up tight to the rail. Since the top of the rail protrudes from the lower section, the sight should not pull off is properly tightened down
@wdpk8374 жыл бұрын
2phast Tactical 2phast Tactical I kinda see what you mean. I did tighten it down much more and it isn’t moving at all now, but seems to be the head of the screw pushing the metal of the sights snugly onto the rail, if that makes sense. Maybe you’re saying the same thing.
@ihategoths34876 жыл бұрын
That sure looks like a short rail for that angled grip
@the2Atreeclimber4 жыл бұрын
Well considering it's not a forward grip it's completely legal... That is considered a hand stop and about a hundred companies make them and they are fine to put on AR pistols. You training for the ATF?
@Tyler_Mattson2 жыл бұрын
@@the2Atreeclimber pretty sure he’s talking about the pic rail underneath the angled grip.
