ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZfaq and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

I feel like Danny Maude is one of the very few pros who actually want you to get better. Shawn Clement is another. Rather than put 1000 different thoughts in your head by showing numbers and percentages, he demonstrates in a very clear manner, what your body needs to be doing. The emphasis is always on motion and position rather than numbers and graphs and percentages. Thanks Danny.

My goal is to "think 2" inside 100 yards. When I am able to do this two things happen. 1. I put less pressure on my putting when I hit the green. 2. Be more aggressive with my chips. This is the key instructions for me to make #2 more consistent.

At the age of 65, I've been golfing since I was 5. My home course as a teen on the high school team living in Springfield, NJ was Baltusrol. With the reverse aging protocols that I consistently live by, I am able to maintain a +0.4 handicap from about a 6500 yard track (8-iron = 170 yards with no wind). The right elbow advice pointing out, which is something that I've mostly been doing unconsciously, is genius: so simple! And now that I'm conscious of it, look out! In addition, the water splashing concept makes so much sense from a practical standpoint. The other video that I watched, "What Nobody Tells You About Chipping Onto The Green," was also a gem, especially with the "under the table" concept. Thank you! Looking forward to more incredible nuggets of wisdom from your videos...

@@DanielMaude Instant results!!! So, as I mentioned, I watched only 3 videos yesterday: "chipping under the table," "core usage, splashing kids, and elbow out (which I used successfully in both chipping and putting as well)," and "using gravity pitching from 50 yards." I left early to have an hour or so to practice and somewhat incorporate these nuggets of golf mastery. Here's what happened: on the front 9, I hit all 7 fairways off the tee on the par 4s and 5s with a 240 yard average carry (= driver circles were very precise and powerful), I hit 6 greens in regulation, the 3 others I got up and down for pars, sand was never close to being a factor, my average putting length was only about 15 feet, and I was pretty easily able to shoot even par 36 from the blue tees playing longer than the 3273 yards on the score card (with the wet Florida ground). On our way to the back 9, the lightning warning cancelled golf for the rest of the day, but I am extremely pleased at these instant results that are only going to get more fine-tuned with continued practice and play. The round also included a 135 yard PW to 15 feet, two gap wedge shots from 122 yards each to 20 and 5 feet respectively, a 190 yard 7-iron to 40 feet which I then putted to within 1 foot, another 184 yard 7-iron to just off the green which I got to 3 feet with my 52-degree wedge from just off the green, and a 153 yard PW to 12 feet! Thank you!!! I will eagerly be purchasing your programs to learn more...

Great drill as always. A version of this drill I do most every day - "engaging" the bounce of the wedges around the yard. Even have some bare spots that one would call "ultra tight lies". Also your bonus #2 to use an iron instead of a wedge is one of my fave go to's. I tend to use the 8i as it closely mimics my friends' chippers at 36deg. Still the key is to not be afraid to figure out what is the best club - even if its not a flop shot wedge but maybe even a hybrid to bump and run the ball to the hole...

Great video as always, Danny! After my 33-year hiatus from golf, something really important that I've found, after getting back into golf this January, is conditions. It would have been great to have added in just how much the ground conditions affect your ability to use that bounce. Only now that it's drying up can I really use that bounce, but it's been a real learning curve up until now to work that out, because no matter what I was doing, it was digging into that soggy winter turf!

You are a genius in explaining the relationship between “how” and “why”. The “why” helps me remember the “how’. Example from driver’s ed from 45 years ago that still sticks: accelerate when you change lanes because the distance traveled at an angle to maintain forward position is longer.

Danny - You are addressing the subtle things good golfers know, but most teachers don't teach. I just watched the video on driver club head path. The opposite thing happens with shorter irons - an outward actoss the line swing when the club head is still descending. An open stance fixes that. If a player tends to hit chips with his hands ahead of the club head, the easy fix is to buy a wedge with more bounce rather than changing technique. Why fight natural tendencies when they will come out when the golfer is under pressure anyway?

Hi Danny, To me you just have shown the reason for a ChipR from Ping or other brands. It just plain gets you in the right positions for chipping with good bounce on the club, plus head weight. This may cause a stir but to me is true. I use a ChipR from about 120 yards and in depending on where the ball position is. I use my wedges just in those odd situations say like in the sand traps or large up or down slope lie's and or thick rough. Honestly, yes that is what wedges are designed for but for someone who doesnt want keep changing clubs the ChipR style clubs can sure help you out keeping your posture and positions and swing correct for your shots like you have shown here.

Man, this is awesome Danny. I've been working on my short game for the past two years and just go so out of sync with everything that I lost my feel. I'm a low handicapper and I've got decent hands and I've gone from Phil's hinge and hold, to Siekman's outside in, etc. and while some have been great at times, they have so many moving parts; they just break down when one part is out of sync. Had a caddy name Lewis Mainwaring at Porthcrawl over the summer and he went through this technique with me when he saw me struggling. As much as I want to use my hands, this method has the highest percentage of success with little hands and just letting the bounce and loft work. It's fantastic. I just chipped in for a big skin on Sunday using it! What I also like is that getting the heel off the ground reduces the amount of club that needs to get through the turf making it glide better. Honestly I was hoping to run into the person who knew this technique and today was the day! So thanks!

Excellent video. Reinforces so much of what I've been working on. In fact, after much trial and error, I have settled on my 50 degree and 9-iron as my standard chipping irons. But what I've also practiced and learned -- maybe you could address this in a future video -- is not making the hole my target but some point between me and the hole. Choosing a spot 1/3 of the way to the hole for fast greens and longer chips with the 9-iron, for example, or half way to the hole with the 50 degree for shorter chips on level or downhill shots, for example. I don't always get the intended result but my success rate is higher than focusing on the hole.

Yeah I was watching the video and the whole time I'm like "thats a chip with a 9 iron all day" :D I actually just recently started chipping around the green with my irons when I got a set of 2020 Cobra Forged Tec irons, I had some Tommy Armour game improvement irons before and Nike Slingshot 4D before that and I never liked the way those giant soles interacted with the turf on chip shots, not to mention all the flyers that would come shooting off the face! Thanks for the great lesson!

Thanks Danny. Excited to use this next time to recover my short game from the trash. I learned how to play golf on a par 3 course and as a consequence got exceptional with my chipping. One day I went to a driving range that had rubber tees; hitting my short irons off the rubber tees. In one day my short game was destroyed. Would always top (thin) my chip shots. Extremely frustrating. No matter what I did to try and correct it-- nothing worked. I will let you know.

Hi Danny, thank you for all your great videos that I find all very helpful. I would have the following questions to this one: 1. do you adjust your aiming to reflect the changed lie of the club? 2. If standing on a upward slope as in your video, do you need to adjust your setup and maintain the bounce with regard to the slope rather than to the horizontal plane? 3. How does the advice regarding the movement and the end position of the shaft fits to the other advice you gave in another video of yours explaining that the shaft end should be moving along an "L" curve? Thank you from the Czech Republic!
