In this short game lesson Danny Maude teaches you 3 different short game shots that will help you lower your scores on the golf course.
You will learn to play the chip and run, lob it over a bunker and the one that everyone loves how to get backspin on your chip shots.
To make chipping and pitching easy you need to be aware that the short game technique is slightly different for all 3 golf shots. Danny covers all the details in todays golf lesson

ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZfaq and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

I am 74 years old and play 3 times a week with practice sessions mixed in. I have read and watched countless videos from known and unknows and taken 3-4 day golf clinics. I can honestly say that Danny's golf instructions are clear, concise and informative. Very well communicated and demonstrated. Keeping it simple and clear produces results. Thanks Danny for keeping it simple to follow and informative to train us.

Thanks Danny. One part of my game that really allows all of my body an opportunity to work in sync. While not always exactly what I am looking for while playing it is usually a fun shot. The more opportunities the more confident. Resulting in short game improvements.

Another great video Danny, thanks alot. I agree with the chip and run technique - get the ball rolling on the green as soon as possible. I only use a lofted wedge from a further distance from the green (unless I have to clear a bunker or other object).

Danny Maude I have been watching studying and practicing using your videos as my foundation for practice and play since the beginning of the Pandemic. At age 67 with a hip replacement shot 82 from the regular men’s tees last week, carding my second career hole in one and kick in birdie for my lowest score in four years. I know I can shoot in the 70s again with a little more practice and play keep up the excellent instruction, your a brilliant teacher so I nominate you as a true Professor of Golf!

Once again Danny your skill to bridge the mind of the Coach to the Pupil has been achieved. A complex movement simply explained and executed to perfection. I’ve had some really excellent coaches over past 10 years, none has achieved the ability to get my swing to behave naturally and fire the club head through the ball with accuracy and power. Thank you. 🙏🏾👏🏾

Danny, thanks very much for the videos. Very precise and intuitive (for me). I started golf three years ago (at age 60) and was in the low 100's. I'm now in the mid-80's and hope to break 80 soon. I have to watch each video at least 10 times to fully understand the uniqueness of each situation and the choice of attack but your advice is spot on. The rest is up to me. Thanks again and please keep the videos coming. This video is perfect for me at this point in my journey because I can't get to the green to reliably leave 2 putts.

There wasn't the advantage of internet and KZfaq when i was in my teens, growing up we just swung a club everyday until you became proficient. Its been 30yrs since i swung a club until recently in my early 50s, i decided it was time to rekindle my love of golf again. Bombarded with so many teaching videos its easy to become burnt-out with all the unrelatable styles. It took me a few weeks to stumble across Danny's videos and instantly felt at ease with his enthusiasm and friendly manner in which he comes across. I suffer with anxiety and my head noise gets the better of me at times, but watching these drills actually sinks in, giving me clarity when i need it most. You've a great way of making the watcher feel involved, and engaged in your teaching technique Danny. I've a long way to go to get my confidence back, to where I'm relaxed and able to find consistency again in my game, but your technique of simplifying and breaking down each shot to a basic form, is something that will help me get closer to the fairways and greens in a lot less shots than it currently does. Thank you for making the time to help so many others enjoy they're golf 🙏

Great lesson Danny - best words ever "fully commit to the shot". These are my three fave shots to work on around the house - I have three "holes" cut in the yard for my grandson to play to (roughly 20 to 25 yards apart). I can play each and have some semblance of real course action. Nothing like be near GIR and knowing that I have the shot to get the ball close to the hole for a shot a par.

This is such a great, concise breakdown and demonstration of three shots all golfers must have. I am going to watch this 100 times until I get confident with all 3. I use my 8 iron a LOT. The other two are not so easy. I have the MOST trouble on tight lies. Very tough and nervy.

Thanks Danny. Hope your well. Really enjoyed this lesson. I have practiced the 8i shot for a wee while now and love it. It is one of my go to shots that I’m now starting to enjoy using. I’ve only just recently added a set of wedges to my bag so just starting to get used to them. I’ve noted from this video that I’m playing the ball too far back in my stance when playing wedge shot around green. Thanks again for the tips and looking forward to putting them into play. Hope you and family stay safe and well. Glad you had a great time up here in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 this week. Kindest regards Mark

Messing around with this stuff I found out how to control a bit of distance on the flop shots. For closer shots, flip/release early and smack the ground with the bounce of the club. For farther shots, throw the lead arm forward harder/farther depending on how far you need to

Thank you Danny. One point I would add if I may, and that is to be fastidious about keeping the grooves clean. I carry a retractable 3-in-one brush tool in my pocket and use it after every shot with the wedges. This promotes far better contact and thus spin and will give you much longer club life. I have to say that spending many hours practicing these shots in recent years has transformed my game and taken a lot of pressure off my approach shots. They helped me rapidly move from 12 to 4 (so far!). Cheers and thanks from Sydney, Aust - Dave

Watched this video last night just before bedtime. I did not have a chance to practice the second and third shots in this video. I had already put the first one in my game from another video. Put the flop and lob shots into play today. They helped me save par three times. The chip shot helped me birdie the hardest hole on my home course. Shot a 82 (lowest score in the past 3 seasons) six shots lower than yesterday. Your videos along with a lesson from a pro a few months ago have helped my game improve. Thanks for the great instruction. Please keep up the great work on your videos.

I wish you posted this video last week! 😂 Great video, I just started playing again a few weeks ago and your videos have helped me not only get back to where I used to be, but I’m already seeing quick improvement in my irons. Now if I can just make solid contact with my driver...thank you again for everything you do!

Danny, I enjoy and benefit from your golf instruction. The pitching video with Pete Cowens was one of the best, I thought. He recommends in that video a lot of wrist hinge and little travel back of the hands on the backswing. Recently, I have watched several instructors (Cameron Smith’s among them and the folks at the Index Experiment) who recommend the opposite-a standard pitch shot where there’s little wrist hinge and the shot is controlled almost entirely by body rotation back and through. The latter instructors argue this makes for a shallower approach angle and thus better use of the bounce-even if the strike isn’t perfect you are just going to hit it short rather than duff or skull it. (This is all in the context of hitting off fairway or similar lie.) I has been working with the Cowens approach and liking it, but then I’ve watched recent pga tournaments closely and see the standard pitch used by pros more closely resembles the less-wrist-hinge-shallower-approach model. This seems to allow for greater use of the bounce. Is this simply a matter of preference? Or do you believe one approach definitely superior to the other?

I’ve come to realise over the years that the ball doesn’t really care what your swing looks like. What all of them do when they pitch a ball is strike the ball then the ground. They do this consistently while also controlling the depth of arc. If you can control these two things it doesn’t matter what technique you choose. Simply choose one that works and you believe in. There are two extremes in pitching. Jordan Speith and Phil Mickleson who love to hit the ball and take a little divot versus the Cameron smith and Steve stricker who like to use the bounce I’ve also learnt that those that say the bounce is more forgiving because you can hit the ball a little behind are correct when ground conditions are soft but not so much when they are hard. In conclusion, I use both depending on what shot I’m trying to play

Thank you so much, Danny. That makes perfect sense. It all depends on the lie and the shot one has most confidence in. It’s strange how many problems I have created for myself because I didn’t feel what I was doing was “correct”-or I had permission from the golf gods to play that way. For instance, since I’ve been a kid, I’ve lifted my left heel to enable a full backswing. When that was out of favor I tried to rework my swing without it. Screwed up my timing, sequencing, and most of all my lower back. Now everyone has rediscovered that Littler, Sneed, Nicklaus, etc. all raised their left heels and it helps! I should have just spent my time perfecting my natural swing (which looked and worked great by the way) rather than screwing myself up being “correct.” At 70 I’m back to swinging like a (slower) 14 year-old and playing better!
