The number of apologists for Barton on here is frankly pathetic. And mostly defending him purely on the basis he played for their club. Look at the bloke's history. It's appalling. Incident after incident of violence all well documented. He should be in jail if it weren't for some very well paid lawyers.

That “switch” is all about insecurity. I grew up with a dude just like that. Anytime we all went out drinking he’d end up fighting because deep down he was very insecure and alcohol only heightened that feeling. So if he thought someone was mugging him off he felt like he had to fight him to prove to the room that he wasn’t weak. This is very common. The big badass in most rooms is usually the most insecure.

Of course it's bloody relevant. They both come from the same background, and shared the same experiences. That background led to his brother becoming a murderer and Joey Barton becoming a violent thug and going to jail. It explains a lot...

Joey has got a lot of fans recently, especially for slagging off womens football, etc. And even though i agree with most of the points he makes, i still wouldn't be a "fan" of his because of the things he has done in the past. Mills is only telling true stories that most of us knew already but the joey fanboys dont want to hear it for some reason. Im not a fan of mills either, but a lot of the comments here are from grown men upset that their hero joey is being spoken of in a way that doesn't put him in the best light. I actually don't think mills says anything controversial or untrue about Joey and i don't think Barton would even have a problem or be offended at a single thing Mills says here.

Ok Barton is a head case the arguments about a woman who said someone who scored 20 goals in 40 games is one a game and says do your maths - and she said Manchester City and West Ham fixed the price to sell rice to arsenal at a fix higher price she is a big joke to football

I bumped into (not literally) Joey Barton at the cinema in Newcastle the day Andy Carrol was sold to Liverpool. Weirdly had walked past Danny Mills ten minutes previously filling up his car with petrol. I shook his hand and had a brief chat with him about the Carroll situation. Mentioned I'd just seen Danny Mills, knowing that they had previously been teammates, he didn't seem too enamored at the mention of Mills... The two lasses with me (one was my girlfriend at the time, the other I'm now married to 😅) thought he was just an old mate, as he was affable. I was amazed how small he was in person, considering his reputation. He was a very good player for Newcastle. Arguably our best at times. Clearly has some issues though. Sometimes nature and nurture combine to ill effect. I know plenty of people in my small town who have done much worse than him and served little to no time. Anyway, enough of my cool story, bro's.

Two points to mention here, 1, Huyton is an area just outside of Liverpool. 2, In the 1980s, people in and around Liverpool used to refer to Fools as "a Joey" ... That is why I refer to Mr Barton as "Joey" !.

Not sure what that’s got to do with anything? People from Huyton, Kirkby and bootle are still scousers if that’s the point you’re making. Makes no odds if it’s a 1 minute walk outside the city boundary mate.
