the Lamp: Just Believe has everything: a great plot, compelling characters, amazing actors, and also none of those things are true. This low budget movie is bad and oh baby I'm gonna cringe.

WHY DO I CALL MY FANS GREG?
Greg is the strongest family on the internet, we're the fastest growing channel on KZfaq, and we make fire content. So, instead of making up some pun using my name and calling my fans that, I decided to use a different name entirely. A name so strong, haters tremble when it is spoken. WE ARE GREG. AND WE ARE TAKING OVER THE INTERNET. And all you have to do to join is hit subscribe and turn on notifications.

Danny is unironically more strong than any “alpha male” KZfaq channel… because he doesn’t even have to try. He doesn’t have to put on a front of strength and confidence, he just naturally is confident and unafraid to be goofy or cry or care if people think he’s not masculine for it. He’s just himself and chill and it speaks volumes about his confidence, unlike alphas who are obsessed with how they’re being perceived.

The rest of the movie absolutely should have been Stan’s ever-increasing rage at his continued failed attempts to destroy the lamp. It should have been like a Warner bros cartoon and he gets bigger tools each time like a jackhammer and then a steamroller and industrial shredders, like he has to literally drive to these locations, and each time the wife just slaps her forehead, riding along with him in the car, saying “Stan no stop it”

Stan’s an abusive douche and I feel really bad for Lisa but there’s one moment in the movie that really gets under my skin. Why didn’t Lisa tell Stan she was giving away their sons stuff? Like I totally get why she would want to do that on her own, she wants to heal, but there is no way she was thinking in her head “You know what would make my grieving and unstable husband get better? Giving away the last outlets he has to his son. Surely this will fix our marriage and he’ll say ‘you’re right Lisa. I’ve been too attached to my dead son and you giving away his stuff without consulting me really changed me for the better.” Obviously not on Stans side, but Lisa should’ve thought that decision through a little more

Grief is so difficult to process. When my boyfriend died… me, his mother and father, and brothers all handled it very differently. It’s been a year and half, and while I see his father occasionally he’s told me it hurts to be around me because it reminds me to much of his son. His mother and I grab coffee and catch up at least once a month. There were times in the first few months after he died that there was short tempers and lashing out, especially from his dad. I know the dad in this movie was an asshole, but having gone through a death myself I can understand it. He knows deep down how cruel he’s being but I know how it feels to be imprisoned in your own grief.

Personally I don't think that the movie was THAT bad. Also as someone who witnessed a few times how families or a couple can get shattered after the loss of a child, I can say that the dad's attitude was pretty realistic. Especially if he blamed himself for his son's passing. Some people deal with events like this differently from others. And as someone pointed out in the comments, what he really needed was just some therapy to go over all this

my personal headcanon abt charles is that he can only exist as a being within the physical realm while someone is like. wishing for something or whatever, so more or less he is summoned by the lamp and is only able to exist while someone needs him there, and that doesn’t happen often, so he doesn’t get too many opportunities to eat food because he doesn’t technically need to eat and where he resides between realities there’s no food or whatever. so he treats himself to a little snack while in the physical realm, it doesn’t have to be extravagant, it’s just a little treat for him. that or it’s just good toast have you ever had a good tasty slice of toasted bread with butter? heavenly.

Don't know if I would consider him "extremely abusive" . He is being mean, and probably the worst thing he did was throw the lamp but TBH I would probably chuck that lamp if my S.O said that they believed it summoned a strange magic man. He yelled at her, but couples do argue some times . At worst he's being kind of a dick, it isn't like he's beating her or something.
@schlorping5156

@sethappleton7628
@sethappleton7628 3 жыл бұрын
@@schlorping5156 I agree that abuse doesn't have to be physical , but he only ever just argues with her. Arguing and yelling is indeed a sign of a failing relationship but not always an abusive one. I would get rid of it because maybe it would help them to stop having these delusions . Honestly if my partner told me that they thought that a magic lamp had summoned a genie it wouldn't take very long for me to think that they were deliberately trying to fuck with me. After a little while longer I would start to think there is something actually wrong with them. Stan just didn't have enough time to get to the point where he would want his wife to go see a shrink.
@sethappleton7628
@sethappleton7628 3 жыл бұрын
@1 1 everyone is entitled to their alone time even when they are in a relationship , he was mean in requesting that but it's not abusive. When he was arguing or yelling with her, it was because he was upset about her throwing their sons possessions away or for buying into delusions about genies so it wasn't like he was telling for no reason. He wasn't insulting her personally, or unfairly criticizing her person, or claiming she doesn't love him, it didn't seem like he was gaslighting or emotionally manipulating her. Throwing the lamp away was probably because he though that she was trying to make fun of him by continuously claiming that a genie came out of it.

The husband makes a wish that all of their memories of their son are replaced with memories of the the girl, as if they were always a family. But of course there is some mcguffin that holds those memories. The girl or wife finds it and opens it. And their memories of their precious lives come rushing back and they are PISSED. Mon because she never wanted to be rid of her son's memory, the girl because she loved her parents that had died in a car crash. Together, the ladies figure out how abusive and manipulative dad is, and they go on a journey of self discovery together. And they leave him to go on a road trip. A man appears in their life who seems nice, but then they get a glimmer of him being a gaslighting ass hole and up and leave before he can get worse. They return only after having found a charming bungalow in the countryside where mom finally follows her dream of becoming a sculptor and the girl discovers she's into girls anyway. They return only to sign the divorce papers. The movie ends with an idyllic montage of the girls before cutting to a door slamming shut and the dad looking at his own hands in horror having not learned his lesson and just struck his girlfriend. It's up to him now to break the cycle.

@rosemali3022
@rosemali3022 3 жыл бұрын
@@nixxdra I see what you mean. In my theory it wouldn't necessarily be a 1 for 1 replacement. It would cause interesting issues if it did though, imagine all your memories being from a male perspective as a girl. Or having completely separate memories from your parents. The conflict with that could go in some really cool directions! Originally though I was imagining some kind of holistic combination that did its best to ease the stress of rewriting memories. Thanks for thinking my idea is interesting btw!
