I am not sure if you are aware of this but you are missing some logic 1) The King would have taken the Kings Road. That is the preferred route is taking a larger group, which he was. That does not mean it is the fastest route, especially due to potential traffic jams. They were riding with chariots, those are not exactly ATVs'. Rough terrain would slow them down. They do not want to give the King or Queen a bumpy road. This is also why you do not see Chauffeurs doing 100mph on dirt roads taking shortcuts to get their CEO client to a meeting in a Rolls Royce. 2) How many people arrived with the King? For the sake of discussion let's just say 300. The King, his family, some maids, knights, soldiers, and 80+ whores. The longer the caravan, the slower the progress. The King would not simply take his meals "on the train". They would stop and eat. He would also want to perhaps make stops at other places, especially Harrenhal. So I could see that trip EASILY taking 2+ weeks. 3) Were they in a rush? Absolutely not. The King had nothing better to do and this means the caravan was not rushed. More importantly the North, and Winterfell most of all needs time to prepare for the Kings arrival. Banquets setup. Guest quarters. Sleeping quarters for soldiers. The amount of preparation it would take on Winterfells' behalf would take no less than two weeks. 4) Were Arya and the Hound pressed for time? Absolutely. They were not messing around. They would have sprinted as much as they can and taken as little rest as possible to arrive in Winterfell. 5) Could Arya and the Hound take detours? Absolutely. They did not need to stick to the Kings Road, they could get around any possible traffic. So two experienced riders in a hurry to get to Kings Landing while NO ONE ELSE should be en route and in their way? I can absolutely see that being the case But you want to compare that with a royal fucking caravan proceeding at a TROT pace that is in the opposite of a rush?!?!?!? Robert likely stopped at Harrenhal and the Crossroads. If you have been traveling around Europe for a week on holiday you are not "traveling 24/7". You stay in hotels, you take meals outside of transport. I am laughing because your stupidity is evident. Im so glad that Disney decided to drop the Star Wars trilogy they promised these two dunces after seeing the outrage season 8 caused.

Imagine planning the series finale of one of the biggest shows of the entire decade and then completely forgetting some important plot points central to the entire show. The humiliation of having your lazy screenwriting exposed to the entire world must be unimaginable.

Can't wait for that D&D Star Wars... oh wait, never happened. Glad they ripped apart an epic series for money that didn't even happen.

If I'm not mistaken some dothraki manage to escape to winterfell during battle. In episode 5 you don't see that many dothraki. It almost makes sense to me, it only falls apart when taking into account the inexistence of any dothraki or any army soldier alive for that matter except main characters when the battle of winterfell was almost over.

There are many things they many things that change within episodes. It didnt look like there were 20000 people in the golden army as well. They butchered the narrative, story and consisty just for twists, surprise moments and visuals, filled with plot holes, plot armor and bad writing. And to me GOT was one of the best in storytelling and narrative. That is why D&D destroyed GOT for me.

But they all didn’t die. The retreated back to the gates on winter fall. Sir juror was with them and he didn’t die in the 1st charge because he ran back. I don’t think most of y’all rewatch the show a second time to see what you missed the 1st time.

Literally in two episodes. The previous seasons had problems, but they were still good enough. Ep1 was fun and ep2 was excellent. It's amazing how fast they've destroyed plot lines and narratives they have spent several years producing.

I think they're all just burned down by this series, actors, writers and staff included and they just want it to be over one way or the other. These last two episodes especially have been such dumpster fires, but also these people have been doing this for 9+ years now, it's a long time for a show like this and they can't really wait for Martin's input. I watched a bit of the making of videos for this season, and there just seemed to be this fatigue over it all, and the performances of the actors have been a bit bland honestly. They just don't give a shit anymore, it's one of the most popular TV shows ever made so it's not like people aren't gonna watch the last 6 episodes of the whole series so might as well just throw some shit together.

Just look at the NK death scene just to make a fresh , recent example . Yes , very good acting, great costumes, good visual effects but simply garbage screenwriting, expecially since they had to make their path without Martin's help. The first two season were so promising...

To be fair, Martin takes years and years to finish a single book and has no true authority dictating his schedule. In such long timescales you have a much better opportunity to produce something of quality. Not that this excuses a shoddy end product, mind you, plenty of shows are able to deliver right up to the last episode. (Though the finale is almost always trash)

Can we stop referring to Martin as a genius please? A Song ofnIce and Fire is pretty good, but I wouldn't call it the work of a genius. There are a bunch of fantasy authors that I prefer to Martin. Erikson, Esselmont, Sanderson, Lawrence, Rothfuss, Butcher, Tolkien, the list goes on. As for the show's writing going downhill, I can't argue with that. We're in the endgame now, and sticking the landing is often the most difficult part of storytelling; especially when you get handed time constraints like the show has been. The quality was bound to slip. As will Martin's writing if he ever gets around to finishing another book, which he won't.

What about the fact that Tyrion told Cersei that she's "not a monster"?? I rolled my eyes so hard I saw my brain! Also, because the ballistae are below the sails, Dany should have been able to see the ships by their sails before they saw her. It just seems like bad writing, and Benioff's comments in this video are just further confirmation of that.

Send scouting ships or just look around because dragons can fly so high no one can really hit them. And these ballista shots are crazy, they fly in straight line with no ballistics involved, pinpoint accuracy miles away despite dragons being fast, mobile targets and absolutely destroy big ships as well. Mary Sue? More like Mary Ballista or Ballista Sue. Then after killing Rhaegal, crews handling the ballistas suddenly shoot like stormtroopers. Another thing: if they could perfectly shoot Rhaegal why not shoot Drogon with Dany on it and spare us the rest of this series. Cersei wins, Euron the Horny Pirate fucks her in the bum over and over, everybody dies, bye.
