I’ve come upon various Kitchener (and Kibbe) videos here in YT but yours are the only ones I truly found relatable and interesting because they resonate with dark souls like me. At first, I haven’t given it much thought, but now I guess it would be great to find clarity on what essence archetype I fall under. I’ve been battling with body image issues for a long time, but my undying love for dark aesthetics (since my late teens) have been a constant source of comfort. It feels good to have a sense of individuality amidst my imperfections because it’s that one thing nobody can take away from me. The first time I watched your videos on dark essences, aesthetics and style inspo, it was like an enlightenment and encouragement of some sort. Taking notes, perhaps I can now say I’m a mix of Dark Natural and Gamine, with maybe a hint of Romantic thrown in. When dressing up beyond my usual all-black basics, I lean towards Witch and a bit of Vampire style inspo. I’d go for Haunted Doll, if not for my age, but people think I’m younger than I actually am, so maybe I can get away with it? lol. You’ve been really helpful. And you are so lovely. I was being typed and eveything they gave me as an ingenue was white or pale pink while Im "I like the sheer overlay, but can I do sheer black or gray? what about a small floral on a darker or richer colored background? "

Late to the comments section, but I thought you did a great job with this video. 🐈⬛🦇 By the by, I stumbled on a great litmus test for whether or not someone has ingenue essence: Put their hair up in pigtails. If they can pull it off, that's one of their dominant essences. If they can't, it's safe to assume they're some other blend. I was trying to use pigtail braids as a basis for a different hairstyle today when I realized how ridiculous it looked on me. I went into gales of laughter. My partner has since remarked that pigtails aren't really part of my look, and he's right. While softness is a major part of my essence blend, it's not the small scale dainty softness associated with ingenues. I need something with more oomph. Again, thank you!

I just realise my sister has both Gamine and Ingenue, both of them are fighting in her face to have the spotlight, she looks so cute when she dress like a doll, but also when once she cut her hair very short and sharp, with lots of lasher like "punk", she actually look really good, I was surprise!.

it always bothered me but at first I thought I was overthinking it, but I delved more into what yin/yang actually mean and it's so far removed from how Northrup/Kibbe/Kitchener use it that it didn't feel right use it in this context anymore especially when soft/angular are perfectly fine terminology to use - and thank you!

Completely agree with u and Silkymochi! Bringing yin/yang into the mix makes it all too ambiguous and convoluted (it's already complicated enough lol) @_@ plus soft/angular is so much more useful and direct. Phew~!

I so appreciate you bringing up the problem of using yin and yang as terms against softer and angular. It's not something I'd thought of before, even though seeing the yin-yang symbol appropriated makes me cringe sometimes. Can't wait to check out everything else on your channel. This helped me sooo much thank youuu, my first essence is ingenue followed by romantic and ethereal. I’ve been really into the dark coquette aesthetic and haunted doll kind of aesthetic and this helped me so much in finding out what I want style wise. I’m also a theatrical romantic so I am a bit confused on how to incorporate my body type with my essences.

omg i have been waiting for this!! i recently stumbled upon your channel and saw the dark essences video and man, i went into a rabbithole. I personally think my essence combinations are Ingenue-Romantic-Dramatic and this is what I've been wanting to see bc i mainly wear dark aesthetics. even before finding out abt essences, i had a major obsession with lolita fashion, porcelain dolls and like the victorian era but I don't often dress very doll-like until around 2021 (because i have a loud, confident and hyper personality and i didn't think it would suit me lol) and when I look at my pictures from back then dressed up like that it kinda fits perfectly. i think that my Ingenue-Romantic combination works perfectly great together. My face screams romantic in every way but Ingenue is still very much visible (and also bc i'm so short and my body features are soft, rounded and curvy). thanks for this wonderful video, it makes me wanna go thrifting rn lol!! ps. (english is not my first language)

A fascinating video as always! Its so interesting seeing the different ways softness in facial features can manifest, i think my face has sime form of the softer essences but can't work out which one lmao so its fun seeing the variety so i can experiment. I was eagerly waiting for your take on the Ingenue Essence for so long! I've been going through rough times and last night I couldn't sleep but then I saw your post announcing you would post it today and it cheered me up. I still haven't figured out my Kibbe body type yet but I'm almost certain I have Ingenue Essence. I've always been inclined to the dark side of life and enjoy the beauty of it. I'm still halfway through the video but I already feel connected to it on a deep level. It feels like taking a glimpse into my soul. Thank you!

PS: I've been loving the the fashion in fatal frame and other japanese horror related games. People named this dark delicate style after them and I think it would suit Ingenues really well.

Hi~ Do you mind sharing some tips and/or things that you did in order to achieve that Gothy/Haunted Doll look? I believe I'm an Ingenue myself with a hint of Romantic and maybe some Natural and Ethereal but I'm not completely sure so any kind of help would mean the world to me.

@@bull3tcoff1nOMG hi i just saw this, But yes! What I love doing is making myself look like a doll with a more mature waistline/sillhoutte as my ingenue is in my face and romantic is in my body! I also love wearing cute black mod dresses or fluffy mini black dresses w romantic chokers!!

Love seeing you come into your own with all of this! I love how you just describe the VIBES of each essence rather than specific features. It's a fun unique take in the youtube space. Also love seeing how you develop your knowledge in each video, it really feels like a journey we are on together! I love the examples you give and the fantasy archetypes etc. I definitely relate to the fairy tale aspect of ingenue. I really hope you do more deep dives in astrology and fashion. I donno what you think of this, but, I think Jenna also has some dramatic in her blend (imo) which is why she can do ingenue looks that are really intense, like almost the maximum in terms of like silhouette (like the very volumized hair and intense cut/ textures of her Met Gala outfit) it's almost like she is ingenue/gamine but someone turned up the dial to the max. If that makes sense? Like Jupiter, dramatic kind of maximises everything and intensifies it. She also does have quite an intimidating/powerful side to her vibe in a way. Like a haunted doll - but the kind that would defo curse you lol. (In a good way)

I feel like with each video I make I realize something new or learn what I can do better from my last video and I'm so grateful that you and everyone was even here when my videos were still at the beginning stages And I absolutely can see that, the dramatic is subtle like very subtle but youre right her bone structure is very extreme- her face is like daintier version of Tilda Swinton who is definitely a Dramatic so I would see it as Jenna's tertiary

This latest iteration states “ingenue”. I dont disagree, so I’m leaning in to find inspiration and craft my style. I’m 45 though, so it’d be cool if you come across (and share) some mid aged baddies that haven’t conformed.

Thank you! And in ways yes I would! Obviously take it with a grain of salt but for example when choosing suiting or button ups opt for collars that are soft & not as sharp, patterns can be subdued, and Victorian looks would look amazing on Ingenue masc individuals ✨

Leaving another comment under this wonderful video! Would you consider Amy Lee from Evanescence an Ingenue? She's my number 1 style icon and I feel she's Ingenue with maybe some Romantic and a tad bit of Gamine thrown in the mix. What do you think? Based on her facial features only, of course. I feel she's a textbook Romantic through and through!

I definitely have ingenue in my face essence and I LOVE dark ingenue, however, I feel like I’m too tall and boney to feel at home in those lines which make me sad. Gamine works better for me I believe in a intuitive sense but I wish I felt more cute and comfortable in ingenue 😪

Gamine and Ingenue definitely have a lot of crossover and always wear what makes you feel your best! If its any consolation, my muse in this video, Pandora who has Ingenue in her essence blend she actually looks quite tall & still wears Ingenue elements mixed into her style 🖤 so you can absolutely mix and match

I never watched Victorious but from afar I always loved her style and green hair - her and Cat's earlier styles is very much 2000s Emo/Scene style like that's what my middle school & high school style looked like And the actress who plays her, Elizabeth Gillies no doubt is a Dramatic / Romantic essence, some say she has Ingenue but I think that's when she was a teen - and I don't recommend finding your essence until you fully grow into your facial features

I mentioned in couple of videos like my intro to Dark Essences is the main thing is to research as much as you can, really get to know each one, ask a loved one, ask a stranger and not always a sure fire way but if you've ever been compared to someone like a celebrity then look into what their essence is - it takes time, and an outside perspective

I apologize I do try to include diverse examples and it's unfortunate we lack diversity in Hollywood and mainstream media - also keep in mind I focus on dark/goth/spooky aesthetics but nonetheless I do try my best to include diverse models in my examples for mood imagery, runway shows, etc don't just look at my muses but the entirety of my video
