I feel bad for the farmer. He just wanted to live a normal day with his family. The fools who drove him into violence get no pity from me.

After my uncle did a hitch as a green beret, he came back to the farm. After I did a hitch as Infantry, I came back to the farm. Farmers have always made the best soldiers.

“Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves.” - Confucius. “When you begin a journey of revenge, start by digging two graves: one for your enemy, and one for yourself.” - Jodi Picoult When revenge is the only thing keeping you going, once you've gotten it, well... There's not much left except the hurt. A necessary tale, a pertinent warning, a tragic ending. A thing we wish wasn't needed... Your telling is a great work Narrator, of such a somber material.

Except in this case, there was more. More work to be done. More lives to save and villains to punish. He could have walked that road with our other heroes.

That's fucking stupid, I'm killing more than 2 people. I'd need like, 12 graves
@alexistaylor969

yeah see that's the thing though. Those quotes are never adequate simply because in real life there is no finality to revenge, there is always some other motherfucker to kill. You just keep killing until you are finally brought down or you kill enough to realize the people you are getting revenge for would want you to live a better life and you try to honor them.

13:12 “my guns are bigger and I know where you live” I’m pretty sure that’s a reference to Justice League Unlimited where Batman intimidated Amanda Waller and Deadshot respectively.

I related to that farmer's pain. My wife is the reason I pulled myself out of my depression and guilt. She is the literal reason I breathe and if someone took her the visceral response would be beyond brutal. Words like wrath, rage, anger, fury, etc... they don't fully discribe the feeling that starts to form when thinking about it. There would be nothing holding me in place or even together. So, yeah I get it, and I understand why the farmer did it. They took his reason.

I can completely understand. My only reason to stay breathing is my wife of 36 years. I tried the easy way out & was unsuccessful(obviously). I saw what I put her through and shall never to so again. My wife passes by anything not natural, the one responsible shall have a bad time since death is too easy for them.

Interesting story. I must admit to being a little confused at the start. But that small confusion kind of fit the theme of the story. Very much loved the middle and end.

That was a pretty realistic dive into the pain of an individual that has their reason to survive/thrive taken from them. It touched just enough on that all consuming feeling to pull you in without overwhelming you emotionally. Good balance of emotions and imagery. Thanks for the story.

Young pups want to run and gun. Older folks get set up, take one solid shot. I never got good beyond 300 yards. (Ok 200 if anything important, any physical activity in 5 minutes before). But have seen many who can hit at 600 every time smaller then I can at 200 on my best day.
