HFY is a story/series that takes a “human element” in either humanity or an “other” (race/species or object) that exists in a “setting” (future or other world/universe) with varying levels of culture, technology, society and history that help show in some shape or form the potential good or bad for humanity’s race/culture. In These stories Humans are often referred to as Human, Humanity, Deathworlder, Hellwolder in reference to the human planet of origin , Earth. This planet is seen by most of the universe as a place where only death and chaos can survive.

Humans Are Space Orcs (HASO) or Humans Are (Fantasy Race) Are used as a guide when writing.
In these Stories we normally View humans like the other races view orcs in a Fantasy Novel. We (Humans) share the same characteristics and personalities as orcs. Humans are normally treated as the outsiders and barbarians. Humans tend to be underestimated as well in these stories. Unlike Humanity Feck Yea , these don't always put a positive spin on humans\humanity sometimes looking at the darker side of human and humanity from the perspective of aliens.

@@Ryu_D Well, if we are to speculate on such a thing, I would say it would be a mixture of their newfound individuality and their older culture. Kinda like how the trope works for humans, but probably on a more societal level for them, where they are all individuals but they can all be one. the idea has been used in a few anime/series I've seen/read but I can't really recall them off the top of my head. Combine that with the whole "Anyone can become a queen!" thing they now have, and it becomes probably more sailor moon-ish.

To be fair, there is some basis in that clowning once you do your research into a great deal of them. Most of them came from money, even if it wasn't "rich" money, it was still of means. Or they came from those who were once money and knew how to get it back, and were the ones who did so by pulling themselves back up into wealth. Now, if one looks at a family that manages to get there over a few generations, that has more basis in reality, but the self-made millionaire is very rare, and never without a lot of luck, and often outside help, involved. Look at how many made fortunes back in the days of the Robber Barons and how few of their descendants remained wealthy. Those who learned to husband what they have and be wise with their money kept it, but a lot of those who made fortunes rather quickly (in less than a couple of decades)... don't. This still applies today.

This was somewhat reminiscent of the conversations between Sherlock Holmes and the doctor. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is a good inspiration for storytelling. Kudos

Good lies to distract from the cruel unrelenting vicious brutality of the world we rose in so that we could have hope and forget our troubles for a time. A way to escape it all, for a little while, and be something else, someone else, somewhere else, seeing sights only the imagination can show and listening to songs only our hearts can sing. We have grown quite good at it by now.

This is sort of what happened in the star maker with the evil empires. They would conquer systems but ultimately their species or culture would either fall apart or they would be assimilated. It got to the point where the evil empires cut off all communication with the good world minds and just started obliterating them at a distance so it's not to risk contamination.
