I am 23 and unemployed for the first time after being fired for not being a "culture fit". I have really been struggling and I do believe that you have already helped me so much. Slowly and surely I am learning how to "play the game". Your NO bs and straight to the point communication I believe will lead me to a fruitful future. Your videos give me hope. I literally sit with a pen and paper and take notes on all your videos. Thank you so much for taking the time to help others. I feel like everyone not binge watching your videos in the corporate world is at a huge disservice. You are authentic, real, honest, and also entertaining!

I can not thank you enough Darnell. I have been searching for REAL advise high and low! I have been struggling; banging my head against the wall trying to figure out what it is I need to do to get to the top. I kept asking for advise from my managers and senior leaders and NONE of them are willing to tell me the TRUTH straight up. My company “says” they want to promote women into senior leader positions but every important meeting (that I get lucky enough to be invited to) is 98% male and I don’t see any real action plan to promote women. If I compare the number of women on the organization chart (director or executive level) from ten years ago to now, the needle has moved insignificantly. Thanks for helping me understand what it is I need to do to level up.

I am a woman and person of color. If someone makes a mistake, it’s a “learning opportunity” but if I made a mistake, it’s really looked down upon. It’s really not fair. Also, apparently people are uncomfortable when someone like me are “too quiet” when in my world, I only want to contribute in divisions when I have something of substance to say. Apparently, they encourage people to speak in jibberish and complaints, which I don’t. It’s tough but I am THANKFUL for this video. Edit: Wow! Your resume is impressive!! 🎉 its so cool you were an athlete and then went on to other fields! I am in IT!

I just have to come back and comment. This is phenomenal material! Ty, ty, a million times ty. I was so lost wondering why as a usual high achiever I’ve been struggling presently...my strengths are not being tapped into. I should know this; I’ve even thought it but when you are in the pit of despair you can’t see the forest for the trees. This video has reawakened me in such an amazing way. There is a ‘come to Jesus’ talk waiting for me tomorrow at work. Now I’m feeling prepared; no matter what happens.

I’ve shared it. Question: I’m currently working for a highly profitable, global pharmaceutical company as a team leader, making less than $60k/yr. I’ve been with the company for about 2 years, and in my current position for less than 9 months; I’ve done very well, as evident on my recent performance evaluation. It seems like I might get promoted within the next 12-15 months, with a salary increase of between $70k-$75k. I went and got a 6sigma black belt certificate and took Minitab classes to improve my skills and market value. After doing process improvements and working on a few projects (extra responsibilities), recruiters started contacting me on LinkedIn because of my accomplishments. A recruiter contacted me with a job at a top (global) but struggling food and drink company. The pay is almost double what I’m currently making. Should I be offered the job, would you recommend leaving my current company for the struggling company?
@DarnellClarke
@DarnellClarke 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Freddy, great question... I would not leave my current company to go to a "struggling" company. No matter what the pay will be. Stay at your current company, get promoted, then leave after 2 years in that new position, if you still want to leave.

Darnel, you’re the man. Would your opinion remain the same even if I told you that I was pretty much entry level (less than 4 years professional work experience)? I came to the conclusion that the company is struggling based on its 5 year negative stock report. Is that an accurate way of determining if a company is struggling? By the way, your word is gospel.
@DarnellClarke
@DarnellClarke 5 жыл бұрын
@@freddyn6668 - Hey my friend, no having a negative stock report does mean anything. I thought you meant they were struggling because of their negative cash position. Meaning, they did not sell enough products and services, therefore, they are in a laid-off phase. And thank you for calling my words "Gospel"! 👍

Darnell, a passionate video. Suggestions | For greater adherence breakout into (2) 30 minute parts. Regional bias and generational lens vary significantly (e.g. Millennials have entered mid-level management, and too many people really don't care enough about historical facts. Throw in a few projected trending stats. Refine the story telling. The '5 to-dos' and 'rules of the game' are easily lost during the 70+ minute long presentation. Educate brother - lol. Lay them out up front and minimize redundancies. Storytelling to re-enforce the to-dos and rules. -Sab
