A L.A. Dash bus driver was attacked Sunday by a homeless woman in South Los Angeles, just two days after dozens of Metro transit operators staged a “sick out” amid ongoing safety concerns. Shelby Nelson reports for KTLA 5 News at 6, May 5, 2024.

At times that might be the best thing. In this case there's irrefutable evidence of an assault, regardless of what the suspect or witnesses might try to say otherwise. I'd hope that if weapons came out camera person might try to do something; but not knowing what half the street people in LA are capable of, they might think twice.

Why should working people have to put up with criminals who might cause them harm. When the attacker is yet another homeless person, completely useless to the community and to society, it makes it that much worse. We need to stop shoving our heads where the sun never shines and start asking some very uncomfortable questions about the current conditions of our society. We need viable solutions.

She was arrested but it means nothing when prosecutors and judges dismiss most charges, and give plea deals, probation on top of more probation and fines that are never paid. At most she will go for a few days, and walk out to do it all over again.

That no one stepped in for her/Dash Driver, is simply amazing. I do not know a single driver, (been riding since the 70's. Some drivers are straight faul, very few. But 90% are kind and at the very least not mean. They drive me to my destination and I say "Thank you" no matter what. I would of stood up for the driver. Sad. I am praying for her.

In New Zealand, if someone doesn't have any more money on his/her bus card, the driver usually lets them on and tells them to top up money on their card the next time they take the bus

I’m a bus driver also in Los Angeles County and we put up with these freaking people every day these people are walking around everywhere. All they wanna do is get free rides they don’t wanna pay for nothing and then when you tell them no because you’ve already given them 10 times free rides they want to hit you and bus drivers are just sitting ducks We can’t carry anything to protect ourselves and we do it all for chump change.

She's wearing a hospital jumpsuit, 100% just got released from a 72 hour psych hold and probably not medicated.. i worked right next to a similar 5150 ward, facilities charge medi-cal thousands for a 48-72 hold, then just release back into the streets. Its an awesome way to collect money without any Accountability...

My brother is a driver for FOOTHILL TRANSIT ARCADIA Division on Thursday someone pointed a gun at him over his driver cage.. FOOTHILL TRANSIT decided to punish my brother and send him to training because they said he didn’t manage the situation accurately. No police report was made and threatened him with termination. Supervisors are useless their Union doesn’t help for nada. Poor Drivers honestly.
