And yet "Coming in at No. 1 is the hard-touring Dave Matthews Band, which banked nearly $530 million from the sale of 11.6 million tickets since 2000. His tour stops included the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, most recently in 2009. Not too shabby for being "under-rated"!

You will have a field day getting into DMB if you like the drums on this one. Carter Beauford is one of the best out there right now and one of my favorites of all time. His cymbal work is so fun to listen to. There are probably others more familiar with the totality of DMB's catalog who can suggest good songs but their first two albums ('Under The Table And Dreaming' and 'Crash') are the best place to look in my opinion. The drumming is incredible throughout.

DMB is the rare rock band that is not electric guitar-based. Matthews himself plays acoustic, but the sax and violin sounds fill the space that in other bands would be an electric guitar. Made them unusual on the jam band scene in the 90s. Obviously, the rhythm section is off the charts great.

The song right after #41 is called Say Goodbye, and I think it's better than #41, but my favorite will always be "Don't Drink the Water". It's as if Dave tried to write a Peter Gabriel song and succeeded. Alanis Morrisette sings backup on it. The lyrics are incredible and stark and shocking and necessary and poignant. Please do that song! The video features Native Americans dressed as Pilgrams. Phenomenal. Really.

I was a huge Dave-head back in the 90's. Even though through the years I have transitioned into metal, I always come back to Dave for good memories and when I need a serious chill-pill. I love all their albums before 2001. For some reason, just everything after never did it for me. RIP Leroy, you are missed dearly. I also wish that Boyd didn't fuck himself over. Even amidst all the sexual assault stuff, quitting the band was a stupid move. He used to be my favorite band memeber.

I also like "Typical Situation", "Don't Drink the Water" (which I've requested from you), "Ants Marching", and so many more. They are a guilty pleasure and I love them. I like a lot of Dave Matthews Band. Glad you enjoyed listening to this. I need to go back and listen to their stuff again to know what I'd recommend, because I just like the general ambiance of all their work. I like his voice. Sorry I was a bit harsh about metal bands in my last comment on your channel. I never got into metal when I was young, and I certainly don't know all the modern permutations. All I know of metal is probably a stereotype of metal. And since I'm getting older and my tastes are mellowing a bit, I can't really see myself ever going there. Your history of non-radio-listening is somewhat similar to mine. My very early tastes were based on what my older brothers liked. In middle school I listened to music, but it was usually the oldies station.

There's no doubt, if you ever wondered about Dave and the boys, all u have to do is listen or go to a show. The hook is real and subtly pleasing to the soul. Dave Matthews Band is the 2nd most popular band in the history of the world, behind U2, based on ticket sales.🥁nugget from a drummer fan. See...Carter Beauford on drums. 🤯blowing bubbles, wearing golf gloves....lol

Dave Matthews Band is one of my all time favorites. Their live music is the absolute best and you can watch a video of Carter playing drums and recording the song...I think "Stand Up" is one of their better yet underrated albums.

Easily their best song ever written. If you look at large fan base consensus, its in everyone's top 5's usually, it can range from 8 minutes to 32 minutes with amazing chord changes built perfectly for solos and an absolutely bomb chorus. Its really hard to beat a #41 added to any DMB setlist

100% listen to Two Step and Say Goodbye. I also am obsessed with The Stone...but this one live KZfaq video. I’m so happy to see you feel exactly what this band is about. #41 is my all time favorite. It’s exactly as you described. Chill, then right into contentment and joy.

Ha. I'm going back through your videos as a new sub and now I see you turned on to DMB. Man, you're getting introduced to so many phenomenal artists and mountains of music to discover...I'm a bit envious actually, like when I recall hearing the absolutely captivating guitar intro to Crash into Me for the first time again. Really enjoying the channel. Cheers.

Damn dude, I look over to the videos on the left while listening to your discussion of just not having been exposed to different types of music, and I see Genesis and Zappa Shout out to the other viewers here for the great suggestions. Your viewers are at least giving you a Master Class in "must listen" music. If I had to throw in a couple of artists you may not be familiar with but we genre-defining in their own rights: 1 Mahavishnu Orchestra - no words to describe, must listen lol 2 Allman Brothers Band - "Southern Rock" Pioneers (but so so much more) Enjoy.

God, this particular song takes me straight back.....DMB is amazing. I would have recommended you listen to both #41 and Say Goodbye together, as the band intended. It is perfection. So beautiful, so touching. May I suggest Halloween, Don’t Drink the Water, Crush, Typical Situation, Louisiana Bayou.....I could go on and on. I’m so glad this touched you....that’s what good music does.

You need to go to a show. The gorge is where you want to be. It's just like you imagined, wife, amazing back ground and chilled vibes. They play better live than on the albums. Daves lyrics are amazing, quite profound at times. So much meaning amongst the musicianship. Theres no one else like Dave in the world, very unique and special.

Just found their first 3 CDs at the thrift store... This is from their second LP which has several tasty tracks. The first LP is really sweet. This reaction was before I found you... Glad I searched to see what else you've done on these guys... Only see one other tune from their 3 LP... Really surprised... I'll have to see if you do any research on the next one to see if you discovered that these guys are really really philanthropic and gave back an awful lot to charity... Not only were they noted for very animated live shows but they liked to never play the same song exactly the same so fans really enjoyed the unique riffs and solos which changed with every show.

If you want more like this, I think Tripping Billies is in a similar vein. However, my favorite song is The Idea Of You, followed by Grey Steet. I also have to say, I love to see masters of a craft explain what blows them away about something. They pick up on subtle things that a less knowledgeable person wouldn't, and by shining a light on it, you learn a lot about a craft.
