boxblade is an amazing tool. way under rated. I cant imagine anyone not loving it once you learn to set it up properly you will learn exactly how to adjust it. I can tell you it dont take much adjustment from the neutral position in either direction to gain results. of course soil conditions play a big role.

I did view the first one - first!! Equally as informative. I now realize I haven't been getting inconsistent results with my box blade because I wasn't paying close enough attention to the zero or baseline setting you emphasized in the video. I was leveling side to side but wasn't making sure both blades were applying equal pressure on the ground so sometimes it would cut aggressively and sometimes not. I blamed the hardness of the soil when I am sure it was the tilt of the blades in relation to one another. Thanks so much for demonstrating and explaining this aspect of operation! You have a blessed day and every day too!!

thank you for the very kind words. to be honest I have a slight learning disability this means I teach so even a person like me can learn lol. I also have a few years of tractor experience I was in the tractor seat at age 10 and I'm soon to be 57. there is no replacement for practice even when given the information it still takes practice to get efficient with a tractor. I break things easily so I see the tractor as a fragile tool that must be handled with precision not brute force. if more people looked at their tractor that way they would have less break downs and their tractors would last much longer. these new tractors today will never hold up to the abuse we put the old farmall or massey or ford tractors through from back in the 50's and 60's. my techniques are laid out so that a person gets the best results while putting the least amount of stress on the tractor and implement. better fuel economy and less fatigue on the operator and machine. most of these techniques I have simply studied "cause and effect" to deduce the best outcome. I'm glad you found these video useful there are several on this channel that really show and explain the best practices for the best results. it brings me a lot of joy hearing from folks that have success with my methods and express gratitude for the information. I like you wish I had of had some information like this when I started out. originally I was going to write books on this subject but youtube is much easier to share the information on. thanks for the comment and if you have any question just fire away. @@daveknowshow Like you I grew up on tractors even ran over my mom with a hay wagon lol. I was at that time just sit on the seat to steer could not reach the clutch. The most important thing I have taken from your channel and I have improved multiple things from doing so is! I truly hope and pray that you will come into enough money to get you a tractor. the amount of pure joy you will have is better than any therapy you could ever get from a head shrink. I'm very serious about that. plus all the things you can get done so fast will amaze you! even if you cant afford a fancy new tractor pick up an old ford, massey or farmall. until you can get you a nice 4x4 tractor with a loader. you will be so glad! life is so short and you deserve to enjoy yourself on a nice tractor! "the waves" I'm assuming you are talking about the "ripple effect" if so check my video series on the ripple effect secrets revealed. your drive way situation is one of those times when a floating side link may come in handy for that 10 degree issue where it transitions. also a road blade can work wonders in these situations especially when you have hydraulic top and tilt you can adjust on the fly. hope this helps. maybe I will get a chance to show this in a future video.

mine is an L2800 it took the place of the L2900 in production at the time the L3300 was built. mine is a 2005 model.

this is an older model L2800 I recommend something in the L series and at least 30 HP

using a " level transit " is the best way to inspect your grade and measure fall rates. you should of course start nearest to your building and leave the soil as high as possible there. you may have to add soil although you must use caution to not raise the level near the building so high that water runs inside the building. if you have massive wash out I would fill those areas with larger rock followed by crushed stone or native soil since it already is decomposed sandy granite. the large stone will hold the loose sandy granite in place and vice versa yet still allow water to drain. if the area is large enough you can simply do a gradual slope which will make the water disperse more evenly over a larger area rather than streaming aggressively down a narrow area. water is very powerful and what works in one area may not work in another. I wish I could give you a sure fire fix short of paving the area or laying concrete which in some situations can also fail from water damage. really appreciate your kind words and thank you for a great comment. there are many talented folks who follow my channel that may have suggestions for you. if they do they will leave it under these comments.

I allow it to float with the ground. if I get to a low spot that needs soil added I raise the three point to drop the load where it's needed. then lower it back down where needed.

Yeah anything that keeps you from having to hop off the tractor and make a manual adjustment is a beautiful thing. The top is more important so it's great that you have that.

yes it does. I have a video coming soon that talks a bit about roadway angles or crowns. a lot of times you dont need a crown unless you are on dead flat land. I typically run my roads slanted 5 degrees to the low side for run off.

I dont like it sitting on the ground as that promotes rust. I dont like a rusty bucket on the kubota. lol most of the time I tilt it down and lower it till the front edge is just off the ground. if it sits for long it will leak down so its a loosing battle. I dont go nuts worrying over it though. good eye!

the hydraulic top link does not have a depth gauge it does have a level indictor and can be seen in part 1 of this series and also in the video where I show making the level indicator. once the neutral position has been established you can use the three point lift position to set where you want to dump to or if you simply prefer as I do. set it all the way down and use the top link fully extended to "feather dump". then adjust the three point lift slightly up to smooth out as needed. travel speed is very important. don't drive to fast! also the speed in which the three point goes down is vital to a smooth finish surface. this can be seen in my video "the ripple effect secrets revealed Daveknowshow" parts one and two. very good information there. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q5OJodh6m9yYqY0.html

honestly a box blade is a must have tool. my second tool would be a road blade. the road blade is much like a land leveler as it cuts on an angle yet gives better results over a long distance than a box blade. however the boxblade can really move some dirt, cut down high spots and fill in holes, remove root systems as well with the rippers down. a land leveler is great for maintaining a roadway that is in pretty decent shape. what I dislike about the land leveler is you have only one angle choice. where as with a road blade you can angle left or right and even rotate 360 degrees. people who own land levelers swear by them however most of them also own the other tools to create the conditions where the land leveler can be used as a maintenance tool.

just adjust the side link. but keep in mind after making a few passes down both sides of the driveway you need to level it back up because once the lower edge is established you wont need to angle it since the tractor will be on an angle itself. you may watch my video on refurbishing a gravel driveway. it shows using a road blade which I like using along with my box blade for best results. a road blade typically creates a natural crown if that is what you want.

one of the best investments I ever made for this tractor! well worth doing for sure. the indicator for the top link is also GOLD! there is no better learning tool for teaching yourself how to use rear implements like a box blade than the indicator rod and the hydraulic top and tilt. I don't use the tilt as much as I thought I would but the top link is used all the time.

@@bigdog-wm5fi cat one and just measure your threaded top link when its the shortest and then measure when its the longest and try to get a cylinder that meats those measurements. the most important one is the box blade so be sure and get a top link that will extend past the neutral position and retract past the neutral position. I cant remember how long mine is for sure but it seems to work on all my implements just fine.

It look like to me that on yours it look to me as each lever would go in and out or did I see that wrong when you was installing them I like you could push it in and out on the lever if that makes since

absolutely just set the BB in the neutral position or slightly tilted towards the tractor by shortening the top link 1/2 turn. then drive slowly over the area where the gravel is deepest. once full you can drag the full BB to an area where you need gravel and simply lift the three point 1 notch to start dumping about 1 inch or so of gravel. then return to the spot where the gravel is to deep and lower the empty BB and drive slowly so it has time to fill. if you drive to fast it will simply ride over the area and only pick up a little gravel. if its a short distance where the gravel is deep then pull forward that distance and lift the box blade, then back up, lower the BB and pull forward again. repeat until BB is full of gravel then move the gravel to the area you need it in. you can also scoop up a portion with the front end loader if your tractor is equipped with one. just keep in mind if the gravel is deep to create a level driveway then removing that gravel will create a low spot that will hold water in heavy rains. if that is the case do not remove any gravel from that area. instead add sand on top of that gravel and after a few rains the sand will work its way down through the gravel and make it hard as concrete. this will remedy any sinking your vehicle may be doing in areas of the driveway where the gravel is to deep. hope this helps. most import is have fun learning and enjoying your equipment. don't get frustrated we all learn as we go along and its an art to it that you will soon get the hang of.

@@daveknowshow Dave, I have watched that video and it is just telling you to speed up your drop rate which will not help with what I have. Maybe waves are the right way to describe it. I have level ground but then it goes out onto an area that's been filled in to bring it up about 5/6 feet to match up with the yard and now about 18 years later it got big areas thou it that have settled down causing high and low spots throughout that area. So my tractor is not raising it's going down into the low spot and then back out of the low spot and the box blade follows so instead of leveling I'm just scrapping and lowering the whole area and not filling in and leveling. so I guess there is no easy way or cheap way to fix this I'm just going to have to have gravel or topsoil brought in and bucket dump it into the low area and build them up first and box blade and rake it after to make sure its level

@@NYTROeast exactly filling in the areas with trucked in material is a faster way. other than that allow the box to fill till full and then raise the box blade to dump it when you pass over the low areas. hope that helps.
