David Allan Coe performs "The Ride" and "Long Haired Redneck" live at the Farm Aid concert in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 18, 1994. Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers. Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's board of directors in 2001.

I am proud to say , I worked with David in the late 80 ' s I played bass ,drums guitar and sang a lot of background ,I will say I learned more from him then any of the slick singers that I ever worked with , the man is one of the least appreciated Entertainers of all time. Never invited to any of the the phony Nashville event s, Thanks David for the Memory's

I have seen david allen coe so many times.. This dude is real fucn outlaw country from my state of ohio , wrote plenty for others and himself... Lifes journey he wrote from... Thats real country... Not some harvard grad that looked ok in a cowboy hat that people are throwin songs at already wrote... Just sayin DAC gets no where near credit he deserves from CMA... Give credit where its due... David allen is a bad ass country outlaw musician/song writter....

My wife used to wait on David Allen Coe at the Shoney's Inn when it was still up on Music Row in Nashville. He alays ordered the spaghetti. And always left a one dollar tip.

That $1 tip is more than his Band and Crew would get paid. Try waiting 6-8 weeks for a paycheck. The best day of my job with DAC from 1986-1988. Was when we walked out after a show in Dallas TX 1988, and find the Bus and Semi had been Repossessed. And DAC's Credit sucks so bad he couldn't get Rental vehicles. But Called around begging for others to loan him Money or Equipment. I along with 2/3 of the Band/Crew combined left.

@@kennyg63 David blew his money on himself first before anything else. Band and Road Crew would go 6-9 weeks without being paid. When I walked off in 1988, David still owed me 7 weeks pay. But I came from behind after hired by Waylon driving one of his Trucks.

David Allan Coe is great I saw him in Carbondale, IL for ten bucks at a bar called Pinch Penny in about 1999. He kicked ass, funny he was playing behind a cyclone fence. I think they had it there in case anyone threw shit at him....LOL!! True story !

I have worked with them before. I have worked in the entertainment industry for 35 years. Either playing, mixing, running lights etc. he is truly one of the worse musicians I have ever seen in my life on that level of pay. but he really did write all of those songs. got to give credit where credit is due. he just aint worth a crap and performing them.

Just about everyone. I used to be an audio engineer on a live radio show. It was called Jamboree USA. It's the second longest running live radio show second only to the Opry. It was actually called the wheeling Jamboree and is still in existence but it was called Jamboree USA for the 30 years I worked there. It was country show that featured up and coming during the first half and then a current star.

I do still do some work in the country field. I stage manage a large 4 day out door country music festival for Live Nation called Jamboree In The Hills every summer in July. That show was actually started by Jamboree USA. Live Nation had owned Jamboree USA and Jamboree In The Hills. They shut the theatre down where the Saturday night show was because they didn't want to fix the building and kept the outdoor concert selling only the rights to Jamboree USA.

O recently read where someone was wondering why DAC was not asked to be part of the Highwaymen Super Group. I simply told him, "It would only be a Duet with Willie Nelson and David Allan Coe. Waylon, Johnny and Kris avoided DAC as much as possible.

It's really nice to read your comments. I always love to get some insight knowledge of my favorite singers. But on one of his last recordings for Columbia he recorded with Willie and Waylon, and also Johnny Cash. So your comment is very interesting. In the biographies of waylon, willie and Johnny is not much mentioning of dac.. I always wondered why 😝

That’s what electric acoustics sound like. Not fond of them but they are much easier to play with live because you don’t have to stand in front of the guitar mic the whole show,or deal with the feedback from that mic.
