Lyrics
Heaven loves ya, the clouds part for ya
Nothing stands in your way
When you're a boy
Clothes always fit ya, life is a pop of the cherry
When you're a boy
When you're a boy, you can wear a uniform
When you're a boy, other boys check you out
You get a girl, these are your favorite things
When you're a boy
Boys, boys
Boys keep swinging
Boys always work it out
Uncage the colors, unfurl the flag
Luck just kissed you hello
When you're a boy
They'll never clone you, you are always first on the line
When you're a boy
When you're a boy, you can buy a home of your own
When you're a boy, learn to drive and everything
You'll get your share
When you're a boy
Boys, boys
Boys keep swinging
Boys always work it out
About David Bowie:
David Bowie redefined musical genres and the potential of live performance for generations of music lovers. Creating and discarding a variety of personae and restlessly challenging musical boundaries, Bowie released timeless albums including Space Oddity, Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust…, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, Young Americans, Station to Station, "Heroes,” Let's Dance, Heathen, The Next Day and many more. Blackstar, Bowie’s 28th and final studio album, was released on his 69th birthday, January 8, 2016. David Bowie died on January 10, 2016, two days after the release of Blackstar. His body of work, his influence on the worlds of music, art, fashion, film, theatre and beyond, and his legacy of innovation and reinvention will live forever. 2022 kicks off with Bowie at 75, a celebration of his 75th birthday with the Brilliant Adventure box set, the previously unreleased Toy, the 50th anniversary of Ziggy Stardust and a series of special events.

It surprised me how much of a good actor he was. As the concept of a musician trying to act always has me think twice, regardless if they were as talented as Bowie, musicians like Billie Eilish or Doja Cat, or an untalented hack like Cardi B (who fucking can’t fucking act or fucking do anything for fucking shit!). It always has me go “hold up, can you actually act or are you being a sellout?”

@@d1jezek Marlene Dietrich. He'd done a film "with" her the year before in 1978, her last, called Just A Gigolo. Unfortunately it wasn't very good. She and Bowie had to shoot their one scene together in separate places because she was too old and weak to travel to Berlin. Her parts were shot in Paris, where she lived. Dietrich had always fascinated him. Bowie lifted his pose that's on the cover of Hunky Dory from a book of 1930s photos of her.

I was a huge Bowie fan throughout the '70s, and really got a kick out of his trilogy...this album didn't have the consistent genius of 'Low' or 'Heroes', but it certainly had its moments...I still can't believe that the Man who Sold the World was a mere mortal after all...

The SNL has something pretty shocking if you watch the original video. You have to look close! The version you saw probably had that cut out, not the lyrics. Look close at the crotch area in the original video. I didn't catch it when it originally aired, but years later noticed it. It flashes on and off pretty quick.

It was rumoured (so don’t quote me) that Bowie insisted on members of his band playing different instruments to their usual ones for the guitar bit at the end so it would sound totally [censord] up. Think he achieved the sound he wanted
@theunrealtimemm
@theunrealtimemm Ай бұрын
@@Garylpool1 Carlos could drum ok. Bowie played guitar. The drummer - well, even Eno thought it wasn't very good, so Tony Vosconti replaced his bass line. It was more Eno's idea - his oblique strategy stuff generated from written instructions on cards. Belew did several passes on the guitar solo, as they wouldn't let him hear the track before he recorded. I imagine it got better, so they picked and chose.

You have heard the expression, “tongue in cheek” I hope. He got away with these lyrics because he was Bowie who sings about many topics showing how knowledgeable he was on so many topics. His more pop side songs are even a little divergent from the same unimpressive blob of unimportant lyrics. Think of all he wrote. Who else can write, “So I turned myself to face me, but I’ve never caught a glimpse...” or “what can I do for you? Looks like you’ve been there too...” or “From where dreams are woven, bending sound, dredging the ocean, lost in my circle...here we are, one magical movement from Kether to Malkuth...” and lastly, “Should I believe that I’ve been stricken? Does my face show some kind of glow?” And the answer to the last one is yes, you should believe that “I must be only one in a million...” There will never be another Bowie. Never. He is more than one in a million-he is once in the history of mankind. Like I started with, even his pop songs had a point. Have you listened to “Right” lately? Great dance song. And this, “Boys keep Swinging” is a big hit to me. I was playing it yesterday.

This is effin brilliant. Pure art the way David knows best. In fact the combo of visuals singing lyrics and iconography are dop drawer Bowie. If you don't like it it's probably because you are the little old bewildered lady at the end. But Bowie offers you a pitying old lady kiss. Brilliant 👏

Even when he's singers come in like rappers and others I always listen to David Bowie and most people my age listen to rap since I'm 16 but not me. I've been a David Bowie fan for about a year and the first song that got me into his music was starman, but this song keeps me motivated to be honest. 👍

You're unique in not mindlessly accepting every popular musical trend at your age plus you show excellent musical taste & will doubtlessly explore other great musical genres/bands/artists that most people of your age would ignore. Keep that open mind & your excellent musical discernment will never let you down. Be safe in these chaotic times.

@@JStarWWE2005 I became a Bowie fan at your age & have never regretted it. Music such as Bowie's opened my mind up to other talented artists/bands: T. Rex, Mott the Hoople, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, etc. Also listened to the 1960's British Invasion music & developed a taste for psychedelic rock: The Warlocks, Status Quo, Roky Erickson, Ultimate Spinach, to name a few. Great texting with you & greetings from OK.
