There are simply too many large teams that require the goalkeeper to play out from the back, whereas the smaller teams (which usually don't play such a possession oriented style) simply don't have enough money to cover his wages, besides he may not like the prospect of downgrading further down the ladder of European competitions. A dark horse to sign him in my opinion is Roma, as Mourinho frequently signs players that performed under him. Rui Patricio is 35 at the moment and, whilst he is still performing consistently, David de Gea performed spectacularly when Mourinho was at United. Furthermore, de Gea's mediocre passing abilities are far less of an issue in the negative, counterattacking system that the Roma manager is famous for. Although tbh idrk what im talking about and there's been no rumours at all
